(don't worry there's no spoilers) if you feel like reading a sci-fi that will wreck your soul and leave you devastated, I think I have the books for you.

I am so mad rn. I CRIED last night, because of this book. I NEVER cry over books, this is literally the first I have ever cried over a book, like i was barely crying, but by my standards, that's basically bawling my eyes out.
I LOVE THESE BOOKS SO MUCH BUT WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT- WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO TEAR APART MY SOUL LIMB FROM LIMB AND THEN THROW IT IN THE INCINERATOR????? AFTER I FINISHED THE LAST ONE LAST NIGHT I JUST SAT THERE IN SILENCE FOR A SOLID TEN MINUTES TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THE AUTHORS COULD POSSIBLY EXPECT ME TO FUNCTION LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING AFTER THIS OHMYSOLS.
*cue internal sobbing*
ok I'm back after having yet another breakdown. Here's the gist of the series:
It's a sci-fi retelling of Les Miserables (which I've never read/seen but kinda want to now but also don't want to suffer like this again). It takes place on the planet of Laterre, and follows mainly three POVs. Marcellus (an officer of the Ministére, son of a traitor, grandson of the general), CHatine (a thief whose recruited by the Ministére to spy on Marcellus), and Alouette (a guardian of the last library on the planet). There's backstabbing (both literal and metaphorical), puzzles, revolutions and corrupt governments, romance, and its fast-paced but also slow-paced and the characters are amazing and the mysteries and there are so many REVEALS and how so many of the different characters just fit together- its just so amazing I love these books so much.
The three books are all around 500-700 pages, but they go by SO fast and half the time I was so confused about the authors could fit SO MUCH PLOT in one books it just WORKS and I need more people to read it because apparently the fandom is tiny and I NEED MORE IM PANICKING HERE.
also teh books are YA, but they're really for ages 12+, they're clean, no usual cursing (they have their own curses that are cool to say), overall just such an amazing read I cannot recommend them enough.
wow I can't believe I was able to do that without a single spoiler.

Oh my gosh, my mom would be SO happy with me if I read these books (she absolutely LOVES Les Misérables) so I might look into them once I finish up the books that I'm currently working on.
Also, a word of warning for the Les Misérables movies. I've seen them a few times, and despite it being a musical, there are defiantly some really rough/gross/intense parts so you may want to have a parent with you when you watch since there were diffidently things that my mom had to censor out for 13 or 14-year-old me. I'd also recommend the version with Hugh Jackmen and Anne Hathway which I know is available on Netflix
So now I want to read this, but at the same time, if it crushed you, what will it do to me XD!
Well I need to pay my 20 dollars of library fines first lol.
OOH I TOTLALY WANT TO READ NOW!!!! But I have so many other books to read!!!! Ugh, I need several more hourse in the day XD
Well I cried hysterically when Silverlake and Bumblewind died!
