Stormlake's captors rose into the air, heading east.

Stormlake glanced around wildly, looking for her friends, for any Sun Herd steeds, really, but there was no one there except them. She trembled like an autumn leaf, trying to push a horrific memory out of her mind. She needed her dam.

"Mama!" Stormlake bleated like a foal.

Nightfires cold eyes were full of amusement. "No one can hear you," he taunted.

Stormlake ignored him and continued bleating, even though she knew it was hopeless. But as they made their way over the vein, she had to finally accept he was right.

She changed tactics, trying to pull her wings out of the steeds' mouths. Stormlake managed to pull her left wing out of Nightfire's mouth, making her and the gray stallion lose altitude. The piebald pegasus dived towards her, catching her free wing and clamping it hard.

Stormlake tried her right wing, but the gray steed only bit harder. She winched as a drop of red blood ran down her wing, vibrant against her dark blue feathers.

They crossed into Mountain Herd's territory. The meadow was empty of pegasi. As they touched down, Stormlake could see they were in their caves, asleep. The two stallions led her into an empty one.

Stormlake watched the gray pegasus lay down next to her, and she did the same. Nightfire stood in the doorway, blocking escape.

The gray steed fell asleep, but Nightfire didn't. Stormlake tried not to fall asleep, waiting for Nightfire to do so, so she could escape. But soon her eyes began to close, and she fell asleep, dreaming of the millions of things Rockwing could do to her and one terrible one that her sister had already endured...

Starbeam- palomino filly with silver feathers, four white socks, thin blaze. Stormlake's sister

Stormlake- large gray filly with dark blue feathers, silver mane and tail, two hind white socks

Over-Stallion

Pinewing- brown stallion with yellowish-green feathers, brown mane and tail, two hind white socks

Lead Mare

Elmcloud- chestnut mare with light green tipped in white, white mane and tail, four white socks
