(This is the story I’ve been writing for the Darkness on the Rise RP, and I’m posting it here so that Icy can see it. Other people are free to read it as well! It was supposed to be the backstory for Miranda, one of my evil characters, but it’s kind of turning into one for Remy, who died in three days. I never meant to kill him so fast, and writing this has helped me understand him better. Windfeather’s character, Kevty, makes an appearance, and one of Firesong’s characters are briefly mentioned. There will be more chapters, coming soon!)
Chapter 1
The Scrying Pool
Miranda Coulter sat on the floor of the small dark room, her eyes set on a small pool of water in an alcove in front of her. It was her scrying pool. At her side rested her lightsaber. It was double bladed red, with a black and green hilt.
“Show me the descendants of Henry Starchaser.” She hissed, swirling a hand in the water and opening her mind to the force. The water began to ripple, and an image appeared.
~
The tall woman watched as the young girl fumbled with the blaster. “Hit those targets in three shots, or there will be no rations fo you tonight!” The woman called from the balcony above the training room, where the girl was.
The girl aimed with the blaster, her hand shaking slightly. Perhaps she wasn’t used to any of this yet. She squeezed the trigger, and a blaster bolt ripped through the target, just short of the bullseye.
“Is that the best you could do!?!” The woman yelled. “Try again, Kevty Starchaser. Or maybe I should say, Kevty Blasterfumbler? Dragon’s Bane Guild does not have room for people who miss.”
The girl, Kevty Starchaser, focused on the target, her hand steady with determination. She squeezed the trigger again. Bullseye.
~
Miranda growled as the image of Kevty faded. One of the Starchasers was still living. “How did she ever escape? The clan issued an order to kill that whole family, my suggestion, of course. At least the clan leader listened, once I threw a couple of credits into the deal.”
The water rippled again, and a new image formed in the pool. Miranda gasped as she saw him. Henry Starchaser, her one true love. But he had never seen her. All he had seen was Lily Coulter, Miranda’s sister.
“I’m glad that you are dead…” She snarled, swirling her hand ans banishing the image from her mind. But it was too late as she was drawn back to a time much earlier…
~
Miranda’s nose was in a book as Lily landed the ship. She was always reading, always studying. She had to, because she was training to become a Jedi. There was so much to learn and so much to see.
“Miranda, we are here.” Lily closed the book with a snap. “Look alive, the real world awaits.” Miranda stood up, feeling very annoyed with her sister.
On the flight back from the Jedi Temple, Lily hadn’t even cared to ask her how life was going as a padawan. All she asked was about her makeup. Did it look nice? Should she go with this lipstick, this one? Miranda didn’t care. She didn’t care at all. She knew that Lily was stressed about something, but she didn’t cate enough to ask.
Lily flung open the door of the ship, waving at the crowd below, ans Miranda followed close behind. They lived on Mandalore, and Lily had just been bringing Miranda back from the Jedi Temple. But to everyone else, Miranda was coming back from an alternative education school on Coruscant.
Miranda smiled at the large crowd, shocked that so many had come to see her back from school. But they weren’t here for her, as she quickly realized. They were here for Lily.
“We love you, Lily!” Cried two young girls who had dressed themselves just like her. Miranda stared, slack jawed. The girls threw a bouquet of flowers into Lily’s arms, who quickly thanked them.
And then there he was. A Mandalorian standing nearby swept his helmet off with a flourish and gave a short bow. “My name is Henry Starchaser. Welcome home.” He extended a hand to shake with Miranda, who eyed it, stunned.
~
Miranda thrust her fist into the water, and the vision vanished. She glanced away from the pool, seething. Maybe Henry had acted all sweet at first, but soon his real intentions had become clear. He wanted her to get to her sister, and nothing more.
A knock at the door wrenched her from her thoughts. Miranda stood up, sensing for a moment to see who it was. “Come in.” She called.
Three stormtroopers entered, two of which were dragging a young boy by his arms. The boy couldn’t have been over six, but he was rather small. His eyes were wide and frightened, and he was trying to hold back.
“This child was recently captured as part of the raid that you ordered us to complete.” The stormtrooper in front said, and the other two brought the boy closer.
Miranda walked around the boy, examining him. She hated seeing children of any kind, for they reminded her of Henry and Lily’s child, Gade Starchaser. She had already killed the Starchaser family, or almost all of it, since Kevty was somehow still alive. Since she couldn’t bring anymore grief to them, she brought grief to other families.
“What is your name, young boy?” She asked, her tone sickly sweet.
The boy stayed quiet until one of the troopers pulled on his arm sharply. “R-Remy.” His voice quavered. “Remy Clayzer.”
Miranda looked into Remy’s face, one of her clawed hands lifting his chin. “Hello, Remy. Meet your new master.”
Chapter 2
Fire Burns Everything
Time passed, as it always does, but nothing would satisfy Miranda’s thirst for revenge. She checked up on Kevty through her scrying pool, but was helpless to tell where the girl was. She couldn’t track her through the force if she hadn’t even met her once. Five years had passed, and now Kevty was fourteen, and still living.
Miranda glanced at the door to her office as she heard someone knocking. “Come in!” She called.
Remy entered the office, his eyes lowered. The past five years had been hard on him. He had grown more quieter and subdued, and was stronger and more lean. He placed a small envelope on her desk. “For my family.” He said quietly.
Miranda took the envelope from the desk and turned it over in her hands. “Alright. I’ll send it. Now, the girl is due to arrive soon, and I would like for you to be out of the way. Go and help the others in the armory.”
Remy nodded and left the office, closing the door behind him. Miranda opened the envelope and pulled out the letter. A while back, she had made the promise that he could send as many messages as he wanted to to his family. It had been a lie, of course, but Remy hadn’t figured it out. He still tried to send a letter nearly every week.
“Ah, what sappy nonsense.” Miranda muttered as she read the letter. “It’s been five years, Remy. Your brother isn’t going to come and save you. Stop pleading.” She tossed the letter into the fire, and it burned to a crisp. She had saved them at first, but it had gotten too tedious. Still, she had about a year’s worth of letters in one drawer.
A stormtrooper stuck his head into the office. “Ma’am, the girl is here. She is coming this way.”
“Very good.” Miranda smirked, her face pleased. Finally, she would have her revenge.
The stormtrooper left, and Miranda stood up, checking the trap she had set by the door. A tripwire was in place, and once the girl stepped on it, she would be hit with darts that would come out of the wall. Miranda had designed the sedative in the darts herself when she had free time. No one besides her knew about this trap.
Miranda put on her cloak and the hood. The girl wouldn’t be able to tell who she was, as the shadows obscured her face.
“Come Kevty, meet your doom.” She smirked, watching the door.
~
After a few minutes, the door opened, and in stepped Kevty. She was holding a small container, of which Miranda knew contained spice. She seemed wary enough, but not as wary as she should have been.
“Come closer, girl, and set it on my desk.” Miranda hissed, her green eyes glaring from the darkness of the hood.
Kevty walked forward, instinctively stepping over the trip wire. She almost made it, but the hem of her cloak brushed over the wire, triggering the darts. They sailed from the walls, and one hit her on the shoulder.
Miranda stepped out from behind her desk as Kevty fell to the ground, unconscious. She looked up, sensing that someone was watching her. Remy was there, standing in the doorframe.
Remy’s eyes scanned over the unconscious girl, and he hesitated. “Help!” He screamed, and stormtroopers rushed to the office. It was all over now. The trap had gone off, but it had been too noisy.
Miranda pretended to be horrified, but Remy was still glancing at her uneasily. He knew that she had done this on purpose, but he wasn’t going to let her get away with it.
The stormtroopers came, and they dragged Kevty back towards the pod that she had arrived on. Back to Dragon’s Bane Guild, and an empty container of spice went with her. No credits given. Kevty’s mission had been a failure.
Miranda walked over to Remy and tugged at his ear. “You are going to regret this.” She hissed, and she meant it.
~
Remy cried into his filthy bunk in the room he shared with the other slaves. He didn’t cry as much anymore, but today, he was absolutely terrified.
Miranda had talked about how useless he was. She commented that his brother may have been a better worker than he was.
His hand trembling, Remy raised his pen over his small bit of paper. He had to pay for it by doing some of another slave’s chores, but it would all be worth it once his brother saw it. Miranda had found a way to send them to Sash, who was his brother, but not to his parents. That was fine. Sash could always tell them about what was happening.
“Please Sash.” He wrote. “I’m so scared. Why do you never write back? Are you mad at me? Please, if you are there, write me back. I need you. Miranda tries to be nice sometimes, but she is always faking it. She tried to kill a girl today, but I wouldn’t let her. She threatened that she would try to take you, because I’m such a bad worker. I’m really scared, Sash.” A tear fell from his face onto the paper, smudging the ink slightly. “I’ll give you whatever you want. Just please, get me out of here. Your brother, Remy Clayzer.”
Remy slipped the paper into a small envelope, that sat back against his bunk. Another letter that would be going into the fire, although he didn’t know it.
~
Miranda sat in front of her scrying pool once more. “Show me the descendent of Henry Starchaser.”
She waved her hand into the water, an image appeared. Kevty Starchaser was laying on her bed, beaten, bloody, and broken.
“Not what I wanted, but that works.” Miranda swirled her hand in the water, and the ripples disrupted the picture. She would find some other way to have her revenge…whether it was on Kevty, or someone else.

I loved it!! But her I go overanalyzing again....
"They lived on Mandalore, and Lily had just been bringing Miranda back from the Jedi Temple. But to everyone else, Miranda was coming back from an alternative education school on Coruscant."

I don't think this is right. You see, Force-sensitive children were discovered at around one or two and the parents were informed of the ability. Then at three or four the children were taken to the Jedi Temple and trained as younglings for about ten years, while they lived at the Temple. They didn't really leave. Then at 13 or around there, they undertook a series of tests to try and attract the attention of a Jedi Knight or Master. If they were noticed, they became that Jedi's Padawan until they were anywhere from 18-25, when they took the Trials to try and become a fully fledged Jedi Knight. (Sorry I went on rambling)
