Frostfire looked up, the sky was bright this morning. Not a day had passed in the year since they had left Star's free herd that he didn't regret betraying Star and leaving with his family. "Frostfire, love." Larksong called softly, her voice gentle. "What?" Frostfire asked, snapping back to reality. "Come meet your daughter." Larksong called. Frostfire trotted over to his mate. He looked at the newborn filly. "S-she's perfect." He whispered. "What will we name her?" Larksong asked, nuzzling her mate. "Starsong." Frostfire said quickly. Larksong smiled. "That the perfect name for her." Starsong was a white filly with dark blue feathers tipped in white. She bleated softly. Frostfire looked away, tears in his eyes, he walked over to Starfrost. "Have you met your little sister yet?" He asked his son. Starfrost shook his head. "Not yet Papa." He said softly. "What if she doesn't like me?" Frostfire remembered asking his mother, Petalcloud, that same question about the other foals in their herd. "What if they don't like me Mama?" Young Frostfire whinnied. "They will, I PROMISE." Petalcloud said, a smile on her face. "Go introduce yourself to them. I'll be right here." She encouraged her son. Frostfire walked toward the other foals. "Hi." The other foals turnes and swished their tails in his face as they walked away. Frostfire turned to walk back to his mother but she wasn't there. He searched the sky and land until he saw her. Standing with his father Icewing. His mother had left him alone. "She's your sister. Of course she'll like you," Frostfire told his son. "I promise I'll wait right here for you if you need me." Starfrost walked over to his sister. "Hi I'm Starfrost. Your big brother," he said softly. Starsong whinnied in joy and hugged her big brother. Frostfire walked away, knowing that everyone but him had peace. His demons were finaly catching up to him. "I wish I hadn't betrayed Star. I wish we had stayed in the peace of his freed herd." He thought. After a hard disision he flew to Star's herd. He landed and bowed before Star. "Starwing, please forgive me." Star looked down at the captain in shock. "Of course I forgive you. I always have. Forgiveness was always within your reach. You just had to reach out and take it. Go back to your family in peace." Star exchanged breath with the stallion. Frostfire's eyes were wide. "Thank you Starwing." He flew home and smiled as he watched his family, their own little herd. He knew that his regrets would always haunt him. But Star had always offered forgiveness, and now that he had accepted it, he knew that forgiveness had ALWAYS been within his reach. The end
