When Honeyfall woke the following morning, there were two new mares in the den talking to Pineroot. They quickly saw that the filly was awake and came over to introduce them selves.

The older of the two mares was named Ashberry, she was a bay roan, with smoke colored wings, and the other mare was Ashberry's daughter, Willowfrost. Apparently, Ashberry had a foal that had been born dead around the same time Honeyfall was born. And a few months before Ashberry's mate had died. The old mare had been heart broken, so when Willowfrost had heard that an orphaned filly had arrived in Snow Herd, she had volunteered her mother to become Honeyfall's foster mother.

The pair seemed nice enough, they certainly weren't her parents. But they were better then nothing. Since Honeyfall now had pegasi to watch over her, Pineroot had allowed Willowfrost and Ashberry to show her around the herd.

Honeyfall tried her best to pay attention to what Ashberry and Willowfrost where showing her, but she couldn't stop thinking of her conversation with Petalcloud from the night before. Serval times, Honeyfall caught the lead mare eyeing her with an icy glare that seemed to be saying 'hurry up'. Honeyfall would always give her head a little shake, and go back to listening to Willowfrost's endless stories.

A few times Honeyfall caught sight of Sunstrike, he looked tired and worn out. He wouldn't make eye contact with her. Honeyfall tried to walk up to him once, but Sunstrike had galloped off in the other direction. Was he mad at Honeyfall for making him stay in Sun Herd? Or had Petalcloud done something to him? Never the less, what ever had happened to him, Sunstrike clearly didn't want to talk.

Finally, close to nightfall, Honeyfall met her 'target'. Ashberry and Willowfrost were grazing near by, when two foals, about Honeyfall's age, trotted over. One was a blue roan appaloosa filly with light purple wings, and the other was a light gray colt with white wings. As the two approached, Honeyfall glanced over at Petalcloud, the lead mare nodded. This must be the filly I'm supposed to make friends with, she thought.

"Hi." said the filly, "My name is Pebblefrost."

"Umm... hi." said Honeyfall, "I'm... uh... Honeyfall."

"I know." said Pebblefrost, "My brother told me."

Honeyfall looked confused, "Your brother?" she said.

"Her brother was one of the steeds who found you in the woods." said the colt, "I'm Snowfrost, by the way."

Petalcloud wants me to spy on one of the pegasi who saved my life? thought Honeyfall, but instead she said, "Oh."

"Yeah, my brother is one of Snow Herd's finest." said Pebblefrost, puffing out her chest.

"Pebblefrost." said Snowfrost.

"It's not my fault Dragonfrost is so awesome." retorted Pebblefrost.

Honeyfall stared at the to foals for a moment, then said, "So... umm... do all your names end with 'frost'?"

"Oh no," said Pebblefrost. "'Frost' is just really common to have in your name if your in Snow Herd."

"Umm... so... when does flight school start here?"

"In a few months," said Snowfrost, "Because it's easier to fly in warmer weather."

"That makes sense." said Honeyfall, she was about to open her mouth to say more, when she heard Ashberry calling her name. "I got to go, see you tomorrow?"

Honeyfall heard Snowfrost say 'maybe' as she turned to dash over to Ashberry, but she ran head long into Petalcloud, causing the filly to hit the ground.

"Watch out little one." said the lead mare, then she bent down to help Honeyfall up, and as she did so, Honeyfall heard her whisper so now one else could hear, "Nice, I might not have to kill Sunstrike after all." And with that Petalcloud vanished.

Honeyfall gritted her teeth and resisted the urge to yell 'Keep your bloody wings off my cousin!', but that would have most likely led to Sunstrike being killed, or worse. Honeyfall shivered, she didn't even want to think about what Petalcloud might do to him.

Just before the filly turned and started back towards Ashberry, she glanced around, and her eyes locked with Sunstrike's bright blue eyes for a moment. But in that instant, Honeyfall realized that he some how knew what Petalcloud wanted her to do. Honeyfall didn't know how she knew she just knew it, and she also knew that Sunstrike was aware that at any given moment, he could be murdered. But he was still trusting her to keep him alive.

You shouldn't trust me, thought Honeyfall, I'm the reason your in a life or death situation. Honeyfall curled up next tp Ashberry, Well, I guess this is my life now. And that was her last thought before she fell asleep.
