Dewberry didn't feel to good at the fact she was nursing a foal in front of all her friends.

Sweetroot came up to her and said: "Good job, Dewberry, you did wonderful! Your filly is happy and healthy. But quick question. Who's her sire?"

"I don't know," Dewberry answered truthfully.

"Were you mated in your sleep?" Sweetroot asked.

"No, I sleep laying down."

Sweetroot staggered back, as though she'd been hit over the head.

"I've only seen one case like this before, before Star!"

"Huh?"

"You have a spirit foal!"

The pegasi in the glade all gasped. Spirit foals were foals that mares carried when their mate or the stallion they'd loved had died and that stallion mated to the mare before they actually reached the golden meadow.

Dewberry felt like falling over.

"Who's foal do you think it is Star?" Sweetroot asked.

"Bumblewind's," Star said without hesitation.

The other pegasi nodded their agreement.

Dewberry looked at the foal and noticed that she was a chocolate-brown paint with wings that were emerald tipped in gold. The little filly turned and looked at her mother with big brown eyes.

"What are you going to name her, Dewberry?" Morningleaf asked gently.

"Bumbleberry, I'm going to name her Bumbleberry."

Spirit foals: Spirit foals are foals that are born to mothers that loved a stallion, but that stallion had died. They grow in their mother's bellies, but it doesn't show like a normal pregnant pegasus mare. The mothers usually die giving birth to spirit foals, and it's really rare when they don't, when they don't die giving birth to a spirit foal it means their soul and spirit are strong.
