I drew this for @Skypetal's Random fairy tale challenge!
This is actually the second time I've "introduced" this guy to the MB, but the first time was a
reeeeeeeealy long time ago, and since I never ended up doing much with him I kinda forgot about him until I happened to be assigned "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" as a prompt for the drawing challenge. Right off the bat, I was pretty excited about the prompt since I have absolutely loved the whole Chronicles of Narnia series for years. I literally used to be constantly listening to the audiobook versions of all 7 books on repeat! However, I decided to put a hold on the project while I completed a few other drawings, but in the meantime, I started brainstorming ideas about what my Narnia inspired pegasus would look like, then *boom* it hit me! I already had one! In fact, one of my oldest (and I'm talking probably I came up with him at least a year before I joined the MB) just so happened to be inspired by Narnia! Anyways, since I realized that I have never really done much with him, I wanted to update his look a little bit came up with an origin story for him (plus I also wanted to have an in TGH/ROTR universe reason to draw him with armor). Anyways, here he is:
OC Description - palomino pinto stallion, flaxen mane and tail, four white leg markings, a wide blaze, light brown eyes, light feathering on legs, and bright red colored wings tipped in gold
Lionfire's Backstory:
*Contains spoilers for Beneath The Weeping Clouds*
Lionfire was born to Sun Herd and quickly rose through the ranks to become a captain and was known for his bravery and loyalty. After Star received his starfire on his first birthday, Lionfire ended up following Thunderwing's lead and joined River Herd. Throughout the turmoil that befell Anok in the time thereafter, Lionfire fought fiercely in defense of his new herd, however, in the end, he along with so many others, was rounded up and held captive by Nightwing's Wind Herd. After what he viewed as an eternity, he finally had his chance to break for freedom and became one of the few that was able to escape Nightwing's clutches and head south towards a new life with Storm Herd. At first, Lionfire detested his new home, and felt guilty about having left so many others behind without knowing if they would survive, but most of all he was incredibly uneasy about the presence of the landwalkers on this new continent. This unease continued even after Storm Herd was finally able to set off on their own after having helped Faylah Stormrunner retake her throne, and because of this, while patrolling Storm Herd's territory Lionfire often drifted close to the Sandwen lands to keep an eye on them. It was during one such time that he ran into a little trouble with the giant snake which left him badly injured and unable to fly home. Luckily, Lionfire was discovered by a 5th Clan patrol that were able to take him to their borla who with some time, managed to healed him. However, despite his anxiousness around the landwalkers, during his time with them, he had fallen in love with a kihlara mare named Tillei and knew that he couldn't live without her, so he ended up staying with the 5th Clan. Overtime, the Sandwen were able to train him to become a flier and gave him the name Fledge.
Here's a "naked" comparison of the original and updated versions of Lionfire:
Oh! I just remembered that in The Magician's Nephew when Strawberry became a pegasus his name was Fledge!
you did that on purpose @Dragon didn't you😄
That looks SO COOL and I LOVE his backstory!!!
(Also, my family and I are huge Narnia fans, lol. So feel free to talk narnia related stuff)
Oooh!!! I love him!!! And I love the Chronicles of Narnia too!!! Did you know Netflix is making a Chronicles of Narnia TV show? I just hope they start with the Magicians Nephew, and include the Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle. These are the few most people never do...*sighs dramatically
