**SPOILERS FOR ROTR***
HOLY COW!! I got and finished Across the Dark Water today and I will just say that who thought Jennifer Lynn Alvarez's writing couldn't get better? And how many of those people were proven TOTALLY wrong when you read this book? You can say yes/me or no/not me in the comments. Anyway, here is a post to discuss it! Tell me your favorite part, least favorite, etc. And also, I plan to make a drawing of fan art for Across the Dark Water, so stay tuned!
thats wat i was thinking LOL
I bet Harak is I’Lenna’s father >.< (btw, sorry if I was doing that Dawn...)
Oi calm down it really doesnt matter what gender you are no offense but i really hate when people make a big deal. i have a friend thats trans. btw Tuni and Brauk no way! v Tuni dont need no person plus Tuni is gentler than brwany brauk. Tuni is my fav and i saw signs for Dewberry! my fav part was when Tuni brought Rahkki to the animal docter brim carver LOl
I agree Riverstar
And Tuni was sort of likable from a human perspective.
Yeah, but still, I can't stand hearing them call her Sula. I get why she did it, but that doesn't make me like it.
No, I liked that part. She was accepting Rakkhi, which is NOT the same as giving up, as she had first thought. And knowing Echofrost (aka Sula), it was probably a trick. She plans to get free again, as soon as she gets help for Storm Herd.
Speaking of Sula and Firo, what do you guys think of Echofrost and Shysong with Landwalker names? I personally hate it. Especially when Echofrost said she was no longer Echofrost.
Shysong/Firo!
Good point. Okay, the likeable characters were: Echofrost/Sula, Hazelwind, Dewberry, Rakkhi, Brauk (sort of), Uncle Darthan, I'Lenna, hmm, anyone else?
Yeah, I was really mad at Brauk and Harak when Echofrost tried to kick Harak because Brauk messed everything up. I did not like Mut Finn either. When I think about it, there weren't very many likable characters in the book. I think that that might have made us like the likable characters more than we would have otherwise.
Oh, absolutely. I liked that part where Echofrost was planning to kick him. I didn't like that she kicked Brauk, but her intentions were good. And toward the beginning, when Mut Finn took Rakkhi's eight jints? I would've punched him SO hard just then.
Okay, and was it just me or did anyone else feel like punching Harak in the face more than a few times?
I totally agree with all of that. I just finished reading ROTR for the second time yesterday. There are so many good descriptions in it. I definitely ship Rakkhi and I'llena, but I am not so sure about Tuni and Brauk (sorry Wispi!). After reading it, I liked Echofrost even more than I had before.
Echofrost wasn’t kidding though when she said Lilliam was like the human version of Petalcloud. The only difference about them is their species
That would be good
I think she should be imprisoned for life or something. Or given to the Gorlanders or Granak, the dragon. Yeah that was cruel, but so is she.
That sounded cruel O_O
I hope she would be murdered by Reyena or even Echofrost
She would probably whine but would be able to do nothing. The book said that she was not trained properly.
