Hey, guys!!! So, I've noticed that SOME of us here on the MB take Riding Lessons, so I'm kinda curious, what Discipline do you ride (English or Western?)? Why do you like it? Have you, or would you want to, ride the opposite Discipline? If you HAVE ridden both disciplines, do you have a favorite, and which would you say is harder? And would you ever want to compete or show in your chosen discipline?
For those of you who don't take riding lessons, what discipline would you want to try and why? Would you want to compete in any horse shows (Show Jumping, Dressage, Barrel Racing, ETC.)?
Maybe this could become a riding chat, XD I DUNNO!!! LOL!!! I enjoy riding, and I got kinda curious about what you all thought as well!
I ride English have been for about 1 ½ years and rode Western for about ½ year, I personally like English more, but wouldn't mind competing in Barrel Racing.
I would have been taking riding lessons 2 years this April.
I have been getting into jumping, need to work on my canter though :/ Just it kinda scares me, like I'm going to fall off, (though I have fallen twice XD)
I would love to do Show Jumping or Eventing (like what Riverbreeze does)
English is DEFINITELY more technical, especially with leg position (took me like 4 lessons to get it down)
I love having tight rein (compared to loose rein with western) honestly just makes me feel more safe 😂,
Western saddles are just uncomfortably to me, they are way to wide, sompared to English Saddles.
I have lessons about once a week/2 weeks, depends wjem I earn enough service hours
The place I ride every 10 service hours is a free lesson.
Random picture of me jumping (personally my best jump yet XD)
Gah my position is so bad :/ this was taken in like Novemberish, and my Half-Seat as improved SOOO much , same with my heels, though the Horse name is Leo, he's a German warmblood, and I think he's 16 hands?
Also- here is a picture of me riding Western (cringe warning this was taken in July 2019 so I have improved LOTS)
Yeahhhh 😅 this horse had a bouncy trot, and it was my first time riding him as well, plus my parents were there, so extra stress to do the best I could.
Sooo yeah this is a long comment
