Zayne:
He peered at her for a moment. "Do you understand what I mean?" He asked, cocking his head.
Summary:
Okay so, Sunpond and Kilroy are talking, Callumroot are just.... (SQUEEEEEEEE) THIS SHIP IS AMAZING. There's a celebration going on in the centaur camp and all the centaurs are there who are currently in the camp. That's pretty much what's going on!
RECOMMENT FOR NIGHTMISTTTT)
Heisly:
She giggled. "I know right? Do you think this might have an owl or two?" She asked excitedly.
Teirron:
"Uhhh... well, she can't... because... she's too hurt," he replied. "You need to come to her." Teirron hoped that the old mare would believe him and follow him back to the pegasus mare he still didn't know the name of. (SOBZ NIGHTMISTTT)

YO ITS MADE could I have some recomments? Bcus every time I get on, it's like you guys RPed all night long)
(Summary:
SOOOOO a massive wolf attack had occurred in the centaur campsite during the festival. The wolves raided the camp, but I think the centaurs were mostly able to drive them back again. However, there was some casualties. Sultaan, Kelly, Rayla, Raven, (i don't remember if there was any more) all got severely injured. Also, while the chaos of the wolves was happening-Snakefire was able to capture Cameron. So now, he and his small battalion are regrouping in the woods with their 2 new centaur prizes. Merrick and Kelly are currently cuddled up and sleeping together (EEEEEEEEEE) Sultaan is getting the help he needs with Reba. Raven and Zayne are talking and Raven is trying to convince Zayne that she'll be okay as he worries about her. Ben had bandaged up Rayla and he's also trying to convince her to not blame herself for the lost lives of some centaurs.
-Meanwhile-
Kilroy and Sunpond are still talking. Because it's getting late, Kilroy needed to return to his herd. After a quick hug with Sunpond, he is about to leave Sun herd and return to his campsite, but he plans on returning in 2 days. He has also offered Callum a place amongst his herd if he ever wants to be in a herd again.
Uhhhhh I think that's it! If I missed anything pls lemme know!!)
(Hey ya'll! Oh, and btw, Ash, I posted winners for the OC as an Animal challenge! And then I made a new art challenge LOL)
(Also, River, can you use your super power of summarization for me?)
(ALRIGHT IM GOING TO MAKE A NEW PART SO SAVE THOSE COMMENTS!!!)
Rayla:
"I-if I die. I don't want a funeral, ok?"
Ben:
He had fallen asleep, but the gentle sounds of Rayla's voice had pulled him out of his doze. His eyes cracked open and he yawned. He looked down at Rayla, her eyes twinkling off the bright fire. He straightened and tensed. "Rayla, I am not a diplomat. I do not care for the government. I am a Tavern owner, not a politician." He gently squeezed her hand.
"I will not take your place on the council. You're not going to die. I won't let that happen."
(Hey, Stormun do you want something to happen with Melly? I mean its kinda boring right now since they're sleeping)
Rayla:
She woke and dozed and woke again a short while later. "If I die I think you should take my place on the council." she thought out loud. "You'd make a good council member, Ben."
:)
Kilroy: โIf possible, I would like to meet you two days from now at the border.โ he told her, and then added, โCallum, if for some reason you need to be among centaurs again, my camp would welcome you.โ
Rayla:
She smiled slightly. "Don't underestamate your value, Ben." she closed her eyes and drifted into sleep
Ben:
He swallowed and smiled sheepishly down to her. "Yeah, but it also gets centaurs drunk." He thought, but he didn't say it. He held her hand that had tapped his shoulder. "Thank you, Rayla. Now, stop talking and sleep." He cocked a half-grin in an almost teasing manner.
Rayla:
"You matter. You, Benjamin Filo, matter." she gently tapped his shoulder. "Your life matters Ben, they need you as much as they need me. There are other council members but there is only one Ben Filo and only one Tavern. This place helps bring people together and gives people a safe place to stay."
Ben:
He startled by the tone of her voice. He blinked, in total shock that she used his full name. No one's ever called him by his entire name since he was much younger and he's almost forgotten what its sounded like.
A touch of blush reached his cheeks as he looked down at her. "Thank you for saying that, and I'm sorry if I upset you. But, I doubt a simple bar owner is more important to the herd than a council member. They need you, Rayla.." His cheeks flushed further and he looked away.
Rayla:
She looked up at him. "Don't you EVER say that again Benjamin Filo! Your life is NOT expendable! You matter very much to this herd!" And to me "No one's life matters ore of less than anyone else's, you are not expendable. You matter just as much if not more than me to this herd."
Ben:
He grabbed a nearby blanket and settled it over her coat, pulling it up to her withers. Ben sighed again and relaxed against the wall. "Same reason as you, I suppose. I wanted to help my herd. I'm just a tavern owner-my life is expendable. Your's is not. I wanted to help as many steeds as I could."
Rayla:
She nodded, still shivering. "Why did you put yourself in more danger?"
Ben:
"Are you cold, now?" He pulled the cold, damp towel away from her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders to share his body heat. He sighed and stared down at her.
Rayla:
She was shivering constantly, feeling like a block of ice. "Not alone. That's a nice thought." "I probably would have died out in the forest when I was looking for Kylie. Wh-why did you come after me? You didn't have to, and you put yourself in more danger."
Ben:
He nodded. "I know...I'm one of those centaurs too. But, try to calm yourself." He felt her forehead again and gently settled her against the ground. "I'll be right back." He stood up, took a clean rag, dunked it in cold water, then moved back to Rayla. He laid down besides her again and folded the cold, wet towel over her forehead to cool her temperatures.
"You're not alone anymore. There's nothing you need to be afraid of or worried about."
Rayla:
His hand felt extremely cold on her warm forehead. "I'll try. But I'm one of those centaurs who wants to be in constant motion, always working on something." she shivered, feeling cold, despite the fact she was starting to sweat. "C-can I have a blanket?"
Ben:
He smiled. "No, there's not supposed to be. Which is exactly my point-you need to focus on resting and allowing yourself to recover." He felt her forehead with the back of his hand, checking for a fever. "Sleep, Rayla. I'll be here, too."
Fawnroot:
She glanced behind her and gently nudged Callum to attention. She wrapped a wing over his back and guided him forward. "Farewell, Kilroy! When will we expect you to return?"
Rayla:
"I know I must have lost a lot of blood because I see two of everything, unless there just is two of everything."
Kilroy: He called around for Callum and Fawnroot. โI am going to leave now, if that is alright...โ
Ben:
"Trust your healers, Rayla. There's Ulrani, but there's also Andromeda and their apprentices. Both are experienced."
He scooted back against the wall, gently pulling Rayla back along with him. "Now, you need to rest and take care of yourself. You lost a lot of blood, perhaps too much. Rest." His voice was nearly pleading.
Sunpond:
"I'll see you out. And uh, fare thee well, to you too." She giggled, not entirely sure what that meant, but it sounded like some sort of goodbye. She stepped back and walked him out of the cave, keeping on wingtip trailing along the cave wall so she wouldn't misstep.
Kilroy: โRight.โ he said, face muffled in her feathers. He squeezed her back, eyes closed as tried to code the memory forever into his brain. Finally, he pulled away. โUntil next time, Sunpond. Fare thee well.โ
Rayla:
She sighed, "What if they need my help? What if Ulrani can't help them all?"
Ben:
"No! No, Rayla. You are in no condition to stand, let alone help." He gripped her hand and turned her gently to face him. "Please stay and rest. It's late. We'll help them in the morning."
Rayla:
She nodded. "I'm going to go help the wounded." she attempted to stand but she couldn't get her legs to listen to her and suport her weight.
Reba: โI should take you home, shouldnโt I?โ she signed outwardly. โUlrani!โ she said quickly, and signed asking her where Sultaan lived, as Sultaan was probably to weak to tell her himself.
Sunpond:
She gasped a short breath when she felt his hand on her withers. But, her surprise quickly melted away and she grinned at Kilroy, her face pure joy and happiness. She giggled and pranced lightly.
"Wait! One more thing." She stepped closer until she was sure Kilroy was right in front of her, before she wrapped her wings around him. "One hug."
Ben:
He snorted. "Rayla, don't feel sorry for yourself...If you want to believe your at fault, then go ahead. But, I assure you-it's okay."
Fawnroot:
She started to relax under his warmth, but then stiffened again when she felt him dozing against her. His hands relaxed and she felt his weight leaning down into her. She giggled and nuzzled him. "Callum, dear? I think we should get to bed."
Raven:
She smiled
Raven:
She stared at him. "I think you look very handsome when you laugh." she said
raven:
"Sure?"
Zayne:
"Wanna get dinner?" He asked, linking his arm with hers.
Callum:
He rested his cheek on top of her head for awhile, his thoughts wandering. Without realizing it, his eyelids drooped and he sagged into a doze.
Sultaan:
He looked up, pricking his ears slightly toward Reba, trying to perk up to help the mare's worries.
Rayla:
"It's my fault she died, she wouldn't be proud." she said, not sure why she was telling Ben this
Raven:
Her stomach growled loudly and she blushed
(AAANNNND I gtg. Of course. :(
Reba: She turned to Ulrani, grateful for her steadfast help. โI will take care of him. Someday I will find a way to repay you.โ she promised, gathering the herbs and bandages Ulrani (I presume) left for Sultaanโs further treatment.
Kilroy: โWell, if you can think of something you want to show me, then by all means bring it! But otherwise, no.โ he touched her withers gently. โIโd better tell your medicine mare and her beloved.โ
Fawnroot:
She smiled and rested her head against his chest. "I love you," She whispered gently. "Always." Fawn added as she wrapped a wing around his horse back and nuzzled his collarbone gently, feeling the slight lifted ridge from his oldest scar. The one he'd earned from the wolf before they'd even met.
Raven:
She looked up at him. "What time does work start in the morning?"
Raven:
She smiled. "You annoy me? Never."
Raven:
She nodded. "It was quite funny."
Zayne:
He laughed softly. "Really?"
Callum:
He turned his head as she pulled his gaze away from the cliff. He regarded her with his ears pricked for a moment. And then he leaned down and hugged the mare. "You're right, Fawn, and you're here with me. I love you," he whispered, kissing her muzzle. (AUGH THIS MUSIC IS SO CUTE IT DAH CALLUMROOT THEME NOWWWWWW)
Fawnroot:
"As long as you're there, I'm up for it." She nickered gently, then raised her eyes to his. Her face creased in concern as she searched his eyes. She followed his gaze back towards the Interior. Back to the mountains. Back to the cliff.
Fawnroot looked back to Callum and placed a gentle wingtip on his cheek. "H-Hey...It's okay. You're alive. You're here. That's all that matters." She tried to keep her voice from breaking as she spoke. She pulled his head away from the horizon so he would look back at her.
(Hey! I'm seein' some "Oh my goodnesses"...
Raven:
"You should have seen your reaction. Oh my goodness it was priceless."
Raven:
She giggled. "Kidding. I'm not THAT dumb."
Rayla:
"it was my fault she died, she wouldn't be proud of me."
Raven:
She bit her lip. "What's a bed?" she had to ask.
Ben:
He shook his head and gently stroked her hair. "Your mistakes in the past don't matter. That's why it's in the past. You learned from your mistake and now you're doing everything to make sure it doesn't happen again. That's very noble. Your sister would be proud."
Fawnroot:
"You can sleep in the medicine mare den if you'd like. It'll feel like old times when we would lay in the mountain side cave together." Those nights felt like so long ago, when it was only a matter of days.
Raven:
She felt like even if the wolves came back she'd be safe as long as Zayne was there.
Sunpond:
She smiled. She would much rather have Kilroy tell her the whole truth, than lie just to get her hopes up and make her feel better. Sunpond nodded. "Yes. I'll be there. Would like me to bring you anything in return? I'm not sure what I could offer, but if you wanted to see anything form my herd that you think might be useful in your plans for peace, then let me know."
Fawnroot:
She flicked an ear at the sound of gentle crickets. She tilted her head to the side and glanced up at the rapidly darkening sky. The first couple stars were beginning to twinkle as the last rays of sun disappeared over the valley's horizon. "It's getting late. We should sleep."
Raven:
She could barely breathe because he was hugging her so tightly but she didn't mind
Raven:
She smiled at Zayne
Sultaan:
He moaned softly when it was his turn to get medical treatment. Once Ulrani had finished, she stood and straightened. "Reba, unfortunately, I cannot take care of him. Especially with all these more wounded centaurs that need attention. You must care for him," she said, smiling apologetically.
Raven:
She felt safe, even surrounded by strangers
(I LOVE THIS SHIP!!! *Starts planning wedding*)
Raven:
She hugged him back, smiling
Raven:
She smiled, "I love you too," she meant it whole heartedly
Raven:
"But still, I'm an adult, not a foal. I need to get over my past and act my age."
Raven:
She hugged him back, "I was being stupid and stuborn."
Zayne:
"Sssh, it's fine," he whispered, hugging her.
Raven:
She felt frustrated that she was wounded and even more frustrated that talking took so much energy. She sighed, quickly wiping away tears of frustration before Zayne could see them
Raven:
She shrugged, annoyed and wanting to explain why she hadn't trusted Ulrani but she couldn't.
(Could I have some recomments?)
Kilroy: He thought for a moment, wringing his hands. Interestingly, he did not want to lie to Sunpond. โI donโt want to make promises I might break, but promise that I will do my best to come. Will you reciprocate?โ
Rayla:
She was stunned for a second but then hugged him back, stll crying, "But it feels like it's all my fault, like no matter what I do it'll never be good enough to atone for the mistake that got my sister killed."
Ben:
This time, he didn't hesitate. He quickly pulled Rayla up towards him and hugged her. "Whatever happened to your sister, it's in the past. You can't let it define you. You are stronger than those memories. Whatever you did. Whatever happened. None of it is your fault. You have failed no one. Not me. Not your sister. Not your herd."
Merrick:
Is asleep. XDDD
Kelly:
She exhaled and her hair fluttered gently.
She had cooled off a bit, and carefully moved the blanket up higher without opening her eyes.
Rayla:
"I. Failed." her voice was deeply sad. "I know you don't see it that way but that's the way it is. I failed our herd."
Merrick: His grip on her hand loosened as he relaxed and slipped into sleep. His dark curly hair fell over his eyes as his head rested more heavily against the wooden planks on the wall. Merrick felt Kelly's body pressed against him, and that was all the comfort he needed.
Sunpond:
She smiled up at Kilroy. "Yeah, sure! I'd love to try centaur food." She nodded again and spun around in a small circle, her hooves prancing lightly. "2 days. The border. You promise you'll be back?"
Ben:
He gripped the sides of her arms fiercely, his eyes stern. "Rayla, enough. You are a wonderful council member. I wouldn't be saying these things to you if it wasn't true. You know me-I'd never lie."
Kilroy: He sighed, sorry to leave this curious Pegasi behind. She had given him hope, and reaffirmed his purpose. โDo you think you could meet me at the border, two days from now? Maybe Iโll bring something for you. How would you like to try centaur food?โ he asked, trying to bring her spirits up.
(hi!)
Rayla:
"I shouldn't be a council member if I can't protect my herd."
Sunpond:
Her face fell. She, of course, had no idea where the sun was positioned in the sky and was somewhat surprised to hear that it was getting dark.
Upon hearing that Kilroy had to leave, her wings sagged. โDo you have to go? You could stay here! I want to keep talking to you. I want to hear more about your legends and your herd.โ She nickered exuberantly, but she knew it wasnโt worth the effort. She knew Kilroy had to return home. She knew he had a place with all the other centaurs. Sunpond sighed and nodded reluctantly. โAlright...Yes, Iโd love to meet you somewhere. Just name the place and Iโll be there.โ
Kilroy: He nodded, and smiled. Noticing the position of the sun, however, made his smile quickly drop away again. โThank you very much, Sunpond. I really have enjoyed getting to know you, but I must return home. Would you be able to meet with me again?โ he asked. His original plan of only coming to the border would not work, as Sunpond might not be able to meet him there.
Rayla:
Silent tears rolled down her face. "I should have done more. There has to be something more I could have done."
Sunpond:
"Most cases, yes. Like in Sun herd's case, Coalwing hasn't chosen a mare yet to be his mate and therefore also being the lead-mare. The over-stallion chooses single-handedly who the lead-mare will be. Technically, a herd doesn't need a lead-mare, but it also shows a sign of weakness to other herds. Without a mare to lead by his side, the over-stallion has to take up the lead-mare's responsibilities for himself. This can cause the herd to not run as smoothly and the herd to be considered weaker overall."
She shifted her weight.
"A part of it is popular consensus, yes. But, the other part is also simply self-admittance. On several occasions when there is no over-stallion to lead, a power vacuum can form. Stallions will simply admit themselves over-stallion, then fight it out between them. Whoever reigns triumphant rules the herd. But, this doesn't accomplish anything if the herd doesn't respect or support their leader. So, while the stallions not only try to convince each other of who is more worthy, at the same time, they must convince the herd that they are worthy." (YEESH these are long)
Ben:
He shook his head again gravely. His voice deepened. "Rayla, stop. Good centaurs die no matter what. Good centaurs can die in a storm-something that is beyond your control. I understand your distress, believe me, I do. But, your self-blame will not bring them back."
"If it wasn't for you, all those steeds who you just saved could have perished to a wolf." Ben said and gently grabbed her wrist in his fingers and stroked the back of her knuckles.
Rayla:
"I blame me. I should have been more alert, I should have been more attentive and I should have saved more centaurs. Good centaurs died because of my neglagence!"
Kilroy: โSo leadership is determined by popular consensus and merit. But only males can be leaders?โ he asked, trying to keep his voice light.
Ben:
He shook his head rapidly, his slicked back auburn hair becoming tousled. "No, you mustn't think like that. You did your job well. You helped whoever you could. Like I said before, you can't save everyone. The wolves are gone now and there's no need to worry any more. Injured steeds are getting treated and no one blames you."
Merrick:
His grip on her hand loosened as he relaxed and slipped into sleep. His dark curly hair fell over his eyes as his head rested more heavily against the wooden planks on the wall. Merrick felt Kelly's body pressed against him, and that was all the comfort he needed.
Sunpond:
She frowned and tensed as her ears trained towards Kilroy. She sensed something much deeper in his voice that cut much darker. She blinked and took a moment to think, wanting to give him the best answer she could.
"Well, I suppose that if the herd didn't think Coalwing was right for the herd, a number of things could happen. There could either be a revolution and the pegasi could riot for Coalwing to step down as over-stallion. Or a new stallion, one who thinks he's much more suitable for the role, could come along and challenge Coalwing. This happens very rarely though, considering the over-stallion has the last word in everything and has basically an army of captains and warriors to back him up."
She paused to take a breath and consider his second question. "Your second question is harder and there are more 'if's and but's.' If something happened to the over-stallion, leaving him unable to rule, then most likely the lead captain, or another trusted stallion, would take over."
(there's really no evidence for this in TGH books themselves, so i just kinda stole what would happen in a normal horse herd)
Kelly:
Her head slipped. Her breathing was slow and calm, not like before.
Rayla:
She shook her head, looking at the ground. "I should have done more. I should have helped fight off the wolves, I should have been more alert so when they first attacked I could have gotten more of the herd to safety."
Kilroy: โWhat would happen if the herd decided that Coalwing was not the leader that they needed? Or if something were to happen to him?โ His mind rolled into a dark place. It already treasonous to plot the fall of the centaur council, and to do the same with the foreign government... how far would he allow himself to go? He followed a different moral compass than others, that he knew, but who was to say whether it was truly higher order, or even more depraved than the rest of the world? But if the Pegasi would not have peace, he knew he would do anything in his power to force it.
Ben:
"Don't be, Rayla. I understand." He searched her eyes for a moment. "Don't blame yourself. You did everything you could. This land is dangerous-we cannot save everyone."
Merrick:
A smile tugged at his lips before he felt Kelly go limp against him, her head resting against his chest. Eventually, Merrick closed his eyes and fell asleep as well. The warmth of Kelly besides him and the long day behind him, he easily slipped into the comforting hold of darkness as his mind slowed and sleep found him.
Kelly:
"I love you too." She exhaled and closed her eyes.
She relaxed her shoulders, tired.
Slowly, she fell asleep.
Rayla:
"I don't know why I was crying."
Ben:
"It's alright, lass. I'm not upset. Today was hard for everyone."
Merrick:
He relaxed and rested the back of his head against the wall. He shifted his hooves so it was more comfortable for her, then pulled Kelly closer against him with the hand that he wrapped around her waist.
His breathing steadied and his eyelashes lowered. He brushed the back of her hand with his fingertips. "I love you. Sleep well." He whispered softly.
Kelly: She nodded and sighed. Her eyelids drooped and she leaned on him, and sighed softly.
Rayla:
Her crying slowed and stopped. "I'm sorry." she said quietly.
Merrick:
He nodded gently and squeezed her hand. He didn't think her dream was stupid-he knew nightmares were strange and he wasn't about to judge her for it- but it did concern him. He was worried-not about what she saw, but because she had seen it in the first place. "I'm sorry. That sounds horrible."
(it made sense!)
Ben:
He allowed her to cry and each time she sobbed and sniffed for breath, his heart strings tugged. He gently rubbed her arm comfortingly.
Kelly:
She swallowed.
"Well, I don't remember it all to well, but I went on a walk. The camp was a mess pretty much, and I arrived in the woods. The trees were black and ugly, with weird leaves. One of the trees was alive, and it grabbed me." After saying it out loud, she realized how stupid it sounded.
She blushed.
Rayla:
She sobbed softly, unable to continue holding the sobs in (Not sure if this makes as much sense as it did in my mind)
Merrick:
He exhaled and blushed again as he felt her press against him. He hesitated, but then wrapped a gentle arm around her waist. "Do you want to talk about it? Your nightmare?" He mumbled softly, glancing down at her. Even in the dark, he could still see her bright blue eyes and he relaxed as he felt her warm, soft coat against his.
Ben:
"Hey, hey...It's okay. You've had a long day-cry all you want." He gently stroked her hair with one hand and squeezed her shoulder with the other.
Kelly:
She felt her blush deepened, and she was honestly surprised he said yes.
Kelly leaned into him and sighed softly.
Rayla:
"I don't know," she kept wiping away tears, trying to keep from sobbing, she didn't know why she was crying but she couldn't seem to stop
Merrick:
He was glad his room was so dark-his face was as red as strawberries. He inhaled and blinked at her, his entire face flaming hot. Merrick swallowed, smiled, and squeezed her hand. "Sure." He said simply, not trusting his voice not to crack if he said anything more.
He stood and walked around her, hugging close to the wall. Once he had lowered down into the bed besides her, he found her hand again and held it in his. "You can lean against me, if you'd like. Or do whatever makes you most comfortable." (EEEEEAAAWWWWWWWW)
Ben:
"It's pretty late in the evening. It's dark out-" He stopped short when he felt her warm tears. He looked down into her eyes, then shifted his body so he could pull her closer. "Are you alright? What's wrong?"
Kelly:
She exhaled and squeezed his hand back.
Her head hurt and she chewed her lip. "Would you join me?" She asked, before she could chicken out and say she was fine.
Kelly glanced at him and inhaled.
(ehehe)
Rayla:
"Do you know what time it is? I've got work tomorrow, or later this morning."
