I found this off of Wattpad titled Poem by bexie161
I read a book about a girl on fire.
I read a book about a fearless Prior.
I read a book about a boy with a wand.
I read a book about a girl whose drawings respond.
I read a book about a boy with Demigod powers.
I read a book about a girl who's weakness made her flower.
The girl on fire taught me to never give up.
And the fearless girl taught me all is corrupt.
The boy who lived taught me to follow my fate.
Along with the ruined girl who's destiny was great
The son of Poisedon taught me to be a hero.
The girl with cancer taught me to live for today, as there may be no tomorrow
They taught me to look up when things are bleak.
And make me strong when I, myself, am weak.
They showed me I don't need a wand or a knife
To be the saviour of my fictional life.
We call them the heroes of our generation
But no, WE, can be the heroes and our own inspiration
A lot to unpack here, but I think the biggest point is that books are more than just pages! I know that for me, books are my coping mechanism, and you can learn things from the characters/experiences. A lot more than some might realize.
This is a very nice poem. Very cool!!
Aw I love that!! It was so cool
Book nerd poem! I like it! It’s also interesting how the author says that the literary heroes are our modern heroes.
I don’t understand all of the book references, but I like how you found a lesser-known poem! The theme was one that I could relate to. I liked the last stanza the best!
While I like the name that you posed for this poem, I don’t think it should be renamed as it is not our work. I would agree that this poem could be considered an ode, however.
I think the books mentioned (correct me if I'm wrong)
Hunger Games
Uh...Divergent?
Harry Potter
No clue
Percy Jackson
The Fault in Our Stars?
