Rainleaf galloped cheerfully around her friends. "I can't to meet Star and Morningleaf's foal! I bet she or he will be soooooo much fun!"

Rainleaf's best friend, Flamesong, Larksong and Frostfire's foal, looked at her with wide eyes. "Will it like us?"

Rainleaf's other best friend, Dewberry and Bumblewind's foal, Mossblaze rolled her eyes. "What do you think?"

Flamesong thought for a moment and decided, "She or he will not like me at all! Because once Star and Morningleaf tell her all about us, I'm sure they will talk about my sire's not-so-great history with Star or Morningleaf. Oh-no, it will HATE me!!" Flamesong started pacing. "I am soooooo doomed. If it knows my family's history, I'm sure it won't like me or any of us."

Mossblaze, logical as always, answered," It won't know Rainleaf's family history, because no one knows who her family is."

Rainleaf's ears felt pinned down all of a sudden. She felt the familiar burning sadness in her heart.

Mossblaze saw her ears and her wing went to her mouth. "I didn't mean..." she started. "I meant, I.. I .... I'm sorry, I forgot, I wasn't very thoughtful, I, um, I have to go."

Rainleaf didn't stop her. She thought of all pegasi, Mossblaze would understand the hurt she experienced because her sire, Bumblewind was gone too. Rainleaf felt her eyes go wet, for the first time. Little blue flowers sprang from where her tears had dropped. Rainleaf nickered in amazement. Flamesong heard her and started trotting over to her. Hurriedly, Rainleaf stomped on the bright blue flowers so that no one would know such flowers existed.

"Are you alright?" Flamesong nicked in a concerned voice. Hearing her friend's voice made her feel happy.

"I'm fine!" Rainleaf neighed excitedly. "Let's go see how Morningleaf is doing. I'll race you!"

As the rest of the day dragged on, Rainleaf could not get the blue flowers out of her mind. What happened? What did it mean? She was no black foal. She was a normal tan color with Morningleaf's bright blue color, but brighter feathers. It means nothing. Rainleaf thought to herself. I am a normal, average, ordinary pegasus. Nothing is going to change, never, not ever. As she was laying down to go to bed a little voice inside her reminded her "never say never".
