Rainfeather heart fluttered. He knew where Elmwing was! At that moment Redwind looked at her. "Steady now. I hear your heartbeats quickening. We don't want to rush things now do we. Defeating Elmwing will be a challenge. And what Elmwing is up to is far too advanced for you to know. But I will promise this Anok will be fine."
"This Anok?" Lightray asked.
"Like I said, far too advanced. Now, what are your names?"
Rainfeather's eyes widened, marveling at the colt.
Redwind felt her withers and face with his wings, which made Rainfeather feel uncomfortable. But she had to remember this stallion was blind.
"Ah, the leader of the brave little trio. Small for a Desert herd pegasus, but lean like most of them. Your heart makes up for your mishaps."
"Thank you." She whinnied, perplexed.
"No need. And who are you?"
"Lightray" Rainfeather's best friend said, with the same tone of voice as her.
Redwind did the same to him.
"Quite. You carry everyone's hope on your shoulders, stay alive for them ok?"
Redwind looked at Hazelblaze, and she bowed her head.
Redwind did the same as Lightray and Hazelblaze.
"Mountain herd steed?"
"Your not as plain as most of your kind. All of you are so very rare. A leopard patterned desert herd, a vibrant mountain herd steed, and a gentle stallion built for fighting."
"And where are you from?"
"I was born to Jungle herd and belong to Storm herd. I left everything behind to get here. Storm herd is having problems with the Sandwens, and they sent me off to gather any steeds that aren't on the Sandwen's side. But alas, I find three yearlings, coming all the way across the dark water? I'm surprised."
The rest of the night they traded stories of what they have been through, Redwind was young, but wise. She guessed he was two or three. They had made a new friend, but something tugged at her when she thought about that. Rainfeather's gut flipped when she noticed what.
