(A word of warning, the story can be a But dark in parts (not exactly this part, but in the ones to come)
Eli ran down the hall, he was late for training and hoped he wouldn't get in trouble.
His best friend Lila, was holding the door of the training room open for him, "Come on Eli!" she called.
He ran faster and slid inside the room, tripped over his own feet and fell flat on his face. He let out a groan of frustration.
Master Traye looked at him, "You're late, Eli," he said with a sigh.
"Sorry Master Traye," Eli said, standing up, "I lost my saber and had to find it. For some reason it disappeared. But I found it!"
Master Traye shook his head, "Go join the others.... And Eli, don't lose your saber again, please," he said.
"Yes Master!" the 11 year old said, walking over to the other students.
Lila stood next to him, "You can't be late anymore, Eli."
"It's not my fault. I was looking for my saber."
She just laughed
"If you put your saber in it's box when you aren't using it you wouldn't lose it," Lila said, smiling.
Eli rolled his eyes, "Haha. I'll try that next time."
Master Traye had them pair up and start sparing.
Lila swung her training saber at Eli
Eli raised his saber in a block.
Lila quickly moved her blade, slashing at Eli's middle.
Eli blocked and hit her arm with his training saber.
Lila yelped and dropped her saber.
He used the force to call her saber to his hand and stood, holding both sabers.
"That's enough for today. Go to the mess hall," Master Traye said.
The students put away their training sabers and walked to the mess hall.
"Nice job today, Eli," Remo, a young togruta female said as she passed him in the hallway.
A large zabrak male shoved past Eli, slamming him into a wall.
Eli sighed, but he didn't say anything. Jereak, the zabrak, hated him.
"You shouldn't let people push you around like that, Eli," Lila said softly.
"It's fine. I was in his way," Jereak was one of the only students that Eli hadn't been able to befriend.
Lila sighed and grabbed a tray of food, "Let's go find a table."
Eli grabbed his tray and followed her.
They sat down at a table in the corner of the mess hall. No one ever sat with them, but that was normal.
Suddenly Eli heard footsteps and looked up. Master Traye was standing in front of their table.
"Eli, please come with me."
Eli stood, "Yes sir," he was confused as to what was happening, but he followed Master Traye.
(I know this is short, but it's leading up to the important chapters, and those will be longer)
