Hi everyone, wow, it's been a while since I've made a post. Well, I'm doing so now.
You may have heard me mention Camp NaNoWriMo recently, and that's because I participated in it this April. It is an event run by the creators of NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month. The standard event happens in November, but Camp is held in April and July, and it's basically similar to the regular event apart from the fact that you can set an adjustable goal for yourself rather than the premeditated goal of 50K* words in November. Anyway, my goal was originally 40K words, but when I realized that was unattainable, I eventually lowered the goal to 20K words - cut in half - and I beat it today! I currently have 20,368 words of my draft done. It's NOWHERE near a finished novel, but it's progress!
*K is an abbreviation for kilo, meaning 1,000
Here's the question: do you guys want me to post it on here? I would be breaking my own rule, since it is not about pegasi (instead, the main character is a three-year-old unicorn colt). It is an original piece of mine, although if you read it you'd probably see similarities between it and several of the books I've read. I have 23 or so chapters already written, and I'm anxious for feedback. That desire for reader feedback is why I'm willing to break my own rule about sticking with TGH stuff.
Also, if you guys end up saying yes, I plan on drawing a rough sketch for the cover art of the eventual book, if it ever gets published, which I will probably then post here.
I'll put voting on whether or not you want me to in the comments. Press the "Like" button (little heart in the bottom right corner, for newcomers) on the one you agree with.
I'm writing 2 diffrent books, one is a dragon one about a few dragon friends going to search for The Golden Egg, which will be the new king of the land
and the other one is a wolf book, here is a part from it
A pup was hiding in the underbrush watching the battle unfold, Moon pack against Shadow pack, the pup looked up at the sky which was shining brightly with the full moon, the pup remembered her mother's last words to her before she ran off into battle stay hidden Moon for you will be the next heir to the Alpha Lineage. A black wolf suddenly appeared on top of her snarling
"F-father w-why are you d-doing this to u-us" Moon asked trembling.
"Because" He said Snarling " Your pack won't give us the seeds and the know-how to grow the Elderberries"
"It's a good thing too, it will be good for the world of it does not fall into the wrong paws." Moon said sharply.
"Fine, then your whole pack will pay." He replied
suddenly Moon's mother Spiritstorm stepped in front of her and glared at the black wolf "What do you want Shadowclaw." She growled.
" I was just telling little Moon here that the whole pack will pay for not giving us some Elderberries. " he replied sharply
"You and your pack don't deserve the Elderberries." Spirtstorm snapped.
"By order of the Alpha of Shadow pack, I demand you tell me how to plant and grow the Elderberries." Shadowclaw demanded
"By order of the Alpha of Moon Pack I declare that Shadow pack does not get Elderberries, until said otherwise." Spirtstorm declared
"What's happening mommy" Moon asked
"Don't worry Moon, Just Run" Spirtstorm told Moon quickly and
"B-but Mother" Moon said
"Just run! and take a pouch of Elderberries with you!" Spirtstorm said
"Ok Mother" Moon said as she ran off into the thicket grabbing a leaf pouch of Elderberries as she ran, she looked back once she was out of reach only to see her mother and father griped in a life or death battle, she looked away then ran off into the unknown
I use Google Docs.
Also, what kind of writing software do you use? I use Microsoft Word sometimes, for really nice things, and then for school projects I use Google Docs.
I’m hoping to do one story about a girl and this new culture and this tree with all the season’s leaves, but I’m not so sure because right now I’m sure it doesn’t sound like much but trust, I was making it into a full blown story in my head xd
Cool! What are you planning to write?
I really wanted to participate in this, but I had AirTesting all through that month so I couldn't. I'm DEFINITELY going to participate in July. And YES. PLZ. POST. IT.
Ohh, no. To both points. One of my chapters is, on average, 850 words or so. Normally I like writing longer chapters, but (at least for the first draft) it's easier this way. For reference, a one-page essay is about 550 words, regularly spaced. In simpler words, each of my chapters is roughly a page or a page and a half long – but that wouldn't be true if this were printed as a book, due to the weird formatting of book pages.
And for unicorns, I am NOT talking about that cheesy song "Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows". The unicorns I'm writing about are sentient beings, prideful and practical, with a general sense of well-being for their fellow unicorns. You'll see if I post it on here, which I expect I will be doing, based on the votes.
23 CHAPTERS WHAT?!?!? THAT IS
...
A LOT.
😱. I’m a super-long-chapter writer person, (Im writing a book and in it, 3 chapters is about 12,000 words.) SO WOW!!! THAT IS SO COOL THAT YOU HAVE THAT MUCH!!!!
And please post it here!!! I would love to read your story (although it has unicorns....... don’t get me started on unicorns.....)!
We also have an writing competition were I live 500words.
I vote post it
Yayyyy! Great job Flame! I voted post it.
That's great! Did you vote?
That is so cool!!! I am joining NaNoWriMo, Next month, I have to books one is at I think 15,000 words and the other is only at a mere 300.
NO– Like Flamefrost said himself, this message board is for The Guardian Herd and Riders of the Realm stuff ONLY! No exceptions, no matter how well-written they are!
YES– I miss when Flamefrost posted fan fictions, and I'm excited for this as an alternative!
