    I have an art question...

    in FAN ART

Ok so I need some help. How do you draw a blue roan? I have tried several times but just can’t get it right. Any tips?

alright, so look for a slate gray color, or a blue gray, I find that they work the best for the color. Look up blue roans and try color matching with your medium, and if you don't have the exact color, then try layering like a blue gray color with regular gray and maybe a light layer of black. Maybe try using a light layer of navy blue or other kind of blue to get the right hue. You can also probably find a tutorial on it... maybe. idk XD I can probably make a little step by step tutorial on it too, if you want :)

@Riverglade's instructions is diffidently a preferred method, however, if your like me, and are limited to colors that are provided in a set of basic Crayola pencils here's how I draw roans:

Use the black pensile to super lightly color in your horse/pegasus (it should look light/medium gray). Then once everything's colored in, go back over the face and leg area to make it darker (make sure to kinda blend the lighter and darker areas). Now, to finish things off, I lightly go over the lighter area of the body with blue (or some times sky blue if I'm going for a lighter roan) to add the blue tint.

Yeah...I always get some grey....and if I'm using markers I use the blue grey marker that I have which is PERFECT for blue roans....and if I'm using colored pencils I add some dark shade of grey, then light blue, then white and light grey to sorta blend it....
