Wait I have a question for some reason I can’t see when I got here and so how do I see it it’s just not on my account!
And @Embermoon I can't believe you only joined on Feb!
Hey! I have the same problem but I have found ways to deal with it by listening to an audio book and I have this app called Calm Sounds-Meditation Sleep. It's so calming and I fall asleep within 10 minutes. I have the same problem so since these help me I was thinking they could help you!
One more!
Read before you sleep it's relaxing (for me)
I have been through this many times. Waiting hours to fall asleep and then feeling like you never really slept when you finally fall asleep. I found a couple tricks I try when I can't fall asleep.
I think of a story and insert yourself into that story. (Try to use an already used world so you don't have to think about it too much (I used to use Percy Jackson a lot. Now I use whatever I feel like using at the time) Try to make it so your character/you are laying down. There are many ways to do this. Maybe your character got stuck in a rock slide and you are trapped beneath the rock. Or your character was injured and is in a hospital. or you are hiding on the ground from a bad guy trying to find you. (You don't have to be laying down in the beginning, but to try and get your character to be laying down helps your brain get sleepy) Maybe make your character light headed, or exhausted...Trust me. It sounds weird, but it helps.)
Sing a song. Whether it is in your head, under your breath, or out loud, it helps. But make sure it is a song you know well. This will put you into a relaxed state where your body will begin to move into a more sleepy state.
Whatever you do, Don't look at the clock that much if at all! All it does is causes your brain to go into panic mode, automatically waking you up further and making it harder to go to sleep. You then start worrying about falling asleep and are awake trying, but failing to relax because all you can think about is how late it is and how you aren't yet asleep.
Ask your parents if when you can't fall asleep at night, if you can read. Reading helps tire out your eyes and helps your brain get tired. Try to avoid a book you know has something big coming up, but that isn't all that important either.
See if the problem is your bed time. I know this can be a hard thing to get parents to listen to, but it was actually one of my biggest problems when i couldn't fall asleep because instead of using my brain for a bit longer and making myself more tired, I was going to bed before I was ready and was still had energy. Even just a thirty minute difference can be big.
Try to do something that gets your mind off of School before bed. Everyone has their thing. Mine is RPing on the MB while drawing and listening to music. It makes it so I literally can't think of anything that could/would stress me out. Some people would go with Movies or books. Falling down the rabbit hole of YT. anything. Whatever works for you. No matter how weird it is.
Electronics sometime cause people to be unable to fall asleep. Try to get off of any electronic,(Phone, computer, tablet, etc) at least 1 hour before bed. at least until you see if it may be your problem.
this rarely works for me, but ever once in awhile...it does. Imagine each part of your body, starting with your toes. Falling asleep and turning off for the night.
Not sure if this makes any sense, or will help. But these are all of the tricks i can think of right now off of the top of my head.
Been there. It actually gets better, trust me. What I do is I think of all that has happened that day, crumble into a imaginary ball and "fling" it across my room. I know, sounds stupid, but that's what I did, and it helped XD
Or I think about super boring stuff. Like teachers that talk and talk, or about doing dishes... that kinda stuff.
oof, not being able to sleep sucks. I unfortunately don't have much advice, but I totally understand not being able to sleep. I go through periods of time that can last a few days where it takes me hours to fall asleep, and I've been going through one now actually. For me, the steriotypical "count sheep" thing NEVER works, and I truly don't understand how it does work.
Here's one thing that I do: I think of a song that I really like and have listened to a lot, and try to go through the entire song's lyrics without messing up. If I remember all of the lyrics, then I do another song. For me it really helps calm me down because whenever I can't sleep for a while, my brain goes into panic mode making it even harder to sleep.
I hope it gets better soon!
Umm i have a few...
Go to sleep earlier
Count sheep
Get a noise machine
