might as well update if I'm here XD I've now started taking lessons again, for around 5 months. I'm riding an OTTB lesson mare named PD a lot, and am starting to jump more regularly.
i am jumping 1-2 foot with ownie and i'm helping training a green horse/ppony named jam! SHE'S THE SMALLest PONY in the barn! and we've been working on a lot with her she's only 8 and we've been starting her training over since she has bad habbits
When I rode I rode Western, I rode for like a year then me moved right before the show I was going to ride in. Then when we moved back a year later I rode for another year and a half or so. Then I simply had to stop riding. But I want to own a horse one day and be able to learn to ride it
I ride English! I’ve been riding for about 5 years and I absolutely love it! I don’t think I can do anything else-horseback riding is my hobby and my passion❤️ I also do Eventing! I do competitions. I do showjumping, dressage, and cross country! Here’s a pic of me and the horse I ride doing a cross country jump at an out of town show a couple weeks ago!
(If y’all let me, I will go an a massive rant about how amazing this horse is 🥰 she’s literally the best)
Just like Riverglade, I'm late to the party XD , but I ride English!! My stable teaches Drassage and Jumping, but I'm not yet ready to get deeply into those lessons yet, but I'm excited to get there!1
oof, I'm late XD I ride English!!!! I used to REALLY want to jump, and I still do, but I actually REALLY REALLY want to learn Dressage!!!! I haven't ridden in like -counts on fingers- 8-9 months, because I'm very high risk to ze covid :( it's sad because my favorite lesson horse in the world had a foal this year!! (she's had other foals, but this was when she's my favorite horse XD)
my grandmother's horse, who I have ridden twice, is named Java. She is exactly 14 hands, bay (brown with black mane and tail), and she has no markings other than a small left rear sock. She's very pretty.
I ride Western (herding cows or just jolly riding is usually when I ride) As you all know, I ride my horse Tucker. But both Nike and Storm look awesome!!!!
I'm actually usually in lessons with my sister and grandmother, but my grandmother just rides for exercise so it feels like just two people even though its three
I'm not on a team either by the way, it's just there are so many people who want to take lessons were I do, they had to do group lessons. But I like doing them
I do both because I'm on a team(not competing this year), so I have to have time to work on specific problems that I have because I had been riding Saddleseat and I'm now riding Huntseat and also learn to navigate other horses for shows.
Sounds like you guys take privet lessons, I take group lessons, so I have to wait to move on to something new until the whole class is at (more or less) the same level
my instructor leads up to everything new "We'll canter on the lunge line," "Let's go the other way," "Try letting go with your hands from the saddle," etc.
My trainer hardly gave me any warning that I was learning to jump. She asked me if I had ever jumped and I said no. Then she asked if I wanted to jump. I said yes and she started walking away towards some poles and things that were on the ground. The I was like, wait do you mean today? She never answered but started setting up a small jump and told me to go out to the rail and trot and to press my hands into the horse's neck so she would jump instead of just stepping over it. I didn't have time to be nervous!! My mom was sitting in the pavilion doing her job and after the first jump I just thought, "I bet she has no idea that I just jumped." My trainer called her after a few jumps and my mom was like "WHAT!?!?!?!?" In a happy way.
GUYS!!!! GUESS WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I GOT TO JUMP FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AT MY LESSON YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do English hunter/jumper. I can walk, posting trot, sitting trot, two-point trot (that is the position jockeys and jumpers use), and I can canter on a lunge line.
It will probably be a while for me before I can't a jump because at the barn I used to ride at, they teach you to bring your hands way back and up before when you ask for the canter. So now I'm in the habit of doing that and the horses(and my trainer) do NOT like it when I do that. Also Starsun, are you a Cubs fan!?
I go to a camp to! I take riding lessons though. But the schendule is untidy. There is usually always something that cancells a lessons. I've mastered the standard canter, walk, sitting trot, posting trot, trotting without reins, but I never learned reverse...
Same, I take lessons at a place that is a kids camp during the summer so I can only take riding lessons during the winter and I can't ride December-February because it's to cold. But I usually ride western/English (western saddle and English bridle), I've sorta mastered the walk, sitting trot, posting trot, group trotting, circle, and reverse. I'm a certified CHA level 2 rider.
I just started doing poles at my last lesson. I was so excited! I was like Yeah! Finally! This Friday I have a lesson and then I get to go back out there the next morning for a test practice. Cass, you are so lucky to have a horse. I've wanted one for as long as I can remember.
Sorry guys, my phone refuses to work whenever I try to make a post. What I meant to say was: what style of riding do you do? I ride English Huntseat on an IEA team. I actually started riding Huntseat about a month ago. For the past three years before that, I was riding Saddle Seat at a different barn. My trainer there was very negative and never gave me any feedback on how I was doing. That was why I switched along with the fact that I wanted to learn to jump.
Might was well update lol.
I've been working on cantering a lot more.

I do English and I go once a week. I can canter, trot to jumps, and I am learning to canter into jumps. (I have a really lazy riding horse)
When I rode I rode Western, I rode for like a year then me moved right before the show I was going to ride in. Then when we moved back a year later I rode for another year and a half or so. Then I simply had to stop riding. But I want to own a horse one day and be able to learn to ride it

oh, well I definitely support joining the Air Force
Your lucky that you have at least one parent who wants a horse, I don't
I don't ride sadly. My mom and I want to get a horse and learn to ride though.

Winnie sounds like dewberry
Ooohhh COOL!
They have a bay pinto mare at the place I ride, her name's Winnie, she ha these really cool blue eyes
Nike looks a lot like one of the horses I ride named Flair
But jumping sounds so fun!!! I’ve galloped a lot but that’s the most experienced I’ve gotten
I ride Western (herding cows or just jolly riding is usually when I ride) As you all know, I ride my horse Tucker. But both Nike and Storm look awesome!!!!
Nike looks so pretty!!!! I usually ride an older chestnut quarter horse gelding named Storm:
(This isn't actually him, but it's pretty close. and he doesn't have socks)
I ride English.
I can jump, canter, trot, do dressage, and ride without a lunge line.
The highest i have ever jumped is 3 foot.
I have been riding for about 3-4 years.
I ride a horse named Nike. This is the closest image I could find that relates to her:
And wow you guys!! You all are so talented!!
Do you have your own horse Flamefrost?
I'm actually usually in lessons with my sister and grandmother, but my grandmother just rides for exercise so it feels like just two people even though its three
Same here
Yeah, it doesn't matter to me what kind of lesson I'm taking as long as I get to ride.
I'm not on a team either by the way, it's just there are so many people who want to take lessons were I do, they had to do group lessons. But I like doing them

I do English hunter/jumper. I can walk, posting trot, sitting trot, two-point trot (that is the position jockeys and jumpers use), and I can canter on a lunge line.

I need to know reverses and circles and stuff like that because I do group lessons

I ride Western, but I think it would be fun to try English
