Here is the plot: Once every 20 years, a black foal and a white foal are born. The Twenty-Year Star appears in the sky before the foals are born, and the star flares brighter each passing day, worrying the herds. The star disappears at midnight on the foals birthdays, but there is a five percent chance that the power will corrupt them. This year, the white foal, Seashade, and the black foal, Stoneheart, are these special fillies. One will be executed, and one will be used. Seashade will need to unlock her true power in order to find herself, and save her home. There are 4 groups of horse-like creatures. They are usually ranked based on abilities. A horse has no abilities, so they are common. To find one in a herd is very rare because the pegasi, unicorns, and pegacorns banish or kill them because they have no abilities. A pegasus has the ability to fly, so they are uncommon. To find one in a herd is common. A unicorn has many abilities, such as teleportation, fireballs, and more. They are rare. To find one in a herd is uncommon. A pegacorn, which is a cross between a pegasus and a unicorn, have the most abilities. They can fly, manipulate themselves and others, time-travel, teleport, and more. They have incredible strength. Their ranking is mythical. To find one in a herd is ultra rare, usually only leaders have a horn and wings. There is a 0.1% chance of one being born a pegacorn. Onto the roles! If a name has cloud at the end of it, for example, “Dawncloud”, that mare is considered the “over-mare” of the herd. The lead mare takes care of the females, weanlings, and foals. She usually leads the migrations that happen twice a year. They migrate to warmer lands when it gets cold and cooler lands when it gets hot. A stallion that has wing at the end of his name, is considered the "lead stallion", for example, "Lakewing". The over stallion controls the army and stallions. If a steed has fire at the end of his/her name, for example, "Nightfire", then they are a captain. A captain's job is to lead a section of an army, but most of the time they set up scouts to patrol the herd for predators. Sometimes, they take orders from their over-stallions to go raid another herd. It's very rare for a mare to ever be a captain. Weanlings are between five months to a year old. They don't need their dams for milk anymore, so they graze. A yearling is a colt or filly between the ages of 1 and 2 years old. If a name has root at the end of it, like for example "Dustroot", that mare is the "Medicine mare" of the herd. She is the healer, and since they don't have real medicines like humans do, they go out, find some leaves or roots or something, mash them up, and feed them to whoever is hurt.
