At dusk, Patchfeather snuck away from the herd, she walked as quietly as she could so she wouldn't wake anyone. Then when Patchfeather was sure no steed could hear her, she spread her wings a flew to a secret meeting place, where she was supposed to meet Dragonfrost and Smokemoon.

When Patchfeather arrived, no one was there, then she heard wing beats in the distance. A few minuets later Smokemoon and Dragonfrost landed.

"Sorry we're late." said Dragonfrost.

"Yeah, we would have been here a long time ago, but every time Dragonfrost tried to leave, Pebblefrost would wake up and want to fallow us." added Smokemoon.

"Okay, we need to talk about Coldfire." said Patchfeather

Dragonfrost snorted, "I don't like him, but I still don't think he killed Whitesnow."

"Even after Oakberry's story today?" asked Patchfeather

"Yes, I just don't see how Coldfire could get a bear to attack someone." said Dragonfrost. "And for that matter, why would Coldfire do it. He'd have to have some kind of motivation. Right?"

"I'd like to know that to." said Smokemoon.

"Well, clearly Coldfire likes Sunnyglow." said Patchfeather. "Maybe Coldfire was jealous of Whitesnow?

There was a pause, then Dragonfrost said, "I guess that would make sense, but what would be his motivation for killing us?"

"Not us, you." said Patchfeather, "Your Whitesnow's colt, and a constant reminder to Sunnyglow of her loss. Coldfire must think if he killed you, Sunnyglow would forget about Whitesnow."

Dragonfrost sighed "Okay, you've told us why he did it, but you haven't told us how he did it."

Patchfeather thought about it for a minuet, then said, "I don't have an answer of that one, but I think we should keep a very close eye on Coldfire."
