Heat rose up her neck and she spurred Arenathe gently to move forward and up. She flew a few wing lengths away before stopping to hover in midair. She stared into the forest and could’ve sworn she saw something move, but she quickly brushed off the thought and went back to running through all the reasons she hadn’t become a rider.
Her face flushed and she instantly felt awkward. "Uh.. I-I don't....." she trailed off into her own doubts and regrets when this was brought up. Arenathe turned her head and flicked her ears forward to Tora, wondering what was wrong with her rider.
Xylia watched as Tora practiced the move, and was amazed by how fast she and Aranathe picked it up. "Why haven't you joined the Sky Guard." asked Xylia after a wile
Tora:She let out the breath she was holding. She hadn't done bad! She grinned at Xylia and practiced the move over and over until she could do the third step comfortably.
Her eyes grew wide at the complicated steps of this tricks. She had once done something similar at a show, but she hadn't done it for years. She took in a deep breath, and set off in a series of whistles that caused Arenathe to do these things. Arenathe shot upward while spinning upside down, her wings tucked t an interesting angle, and pointed her hooves up. Tora adjusted her position through all of this, taking in the way it looked and felt to do this part of the trick. When Tora whistled for Arenathe to stop, she looked towards Xylia, properly sitting on the horses back and asked, "Was that even close to right?"
"Pretty good." said Xylia, noting that yet again, Tora was a little bit high, but that was probably a result of the first ascent. "The last part of this is, getting Aranathe to fly up at the same time as spinning upside down so her hooves are pointed up so she can kick off the belly of an opponent. Then once she's kicked off, she's gotta flip back around to your right side up."
The girl nodded, bit her lip, and concentrated. She blew a very strong yet low note and Arenthe dipped quickly. Tora slid the note up an octave within a second and Arenathe spread her wings, shooting up even quicker before.
Xylia nodded in approval, but noted Tora let Arenathe get a little higher that was preferred, but it wasn't bad for a first try. "Okay, now you have to dive," she said, "But you'll have to pull her out of it pretty fast, so be prepared for that."
She nodded and demonstrated that she could do it by whistling A high pitched note, and Arenathe shot up a few feet, then stopped when Tora whistled a lower note.
"So this is actually a series of commands," said Xylia as she began to explain. "The first thing you gotta do is get Aranathe to fly up fast. I think you have that part, right?"
She smirked, and called down to Sira, "Don't worry, we know what we're doing." said Xylia, giving Vigilans a pat on the shoulder, and tuned back to the now very pale looking Tora, "Wanna try?"
She shivered but didn’t move when Vigilans woodshed by her stomach. She pinned her ears and glared at Vigilans, clearly unhappy. “Didn’t have to almost slice my belly open and cost my rider more..“ she grouched.
Tora:
She paled when Vigilans and Xylia nearly harmed her steed, but she trust3ed her friend, and sure enough, Arenathe was fine. She let out her breath she had been holding, and grinned at Xylia. “Nice moves! I don’t do that jerky of moves...” she trailed off in thought, wondering if she could perform the same trick after some practice.
She had gotten Tekuri groomed and she put the bridle on, which Tekuri wasn't too happy about. Sira grabbed a training saddle and slung it over his back, ignoring his pinned ears.
The training saddle was basically a normal saddle but instead of leather, the insides were filled with sand, giving the saddle more weight. It gives the impression of a human sitting on their back so that the steed can start to get used to how that feels.
She cinched up the girth to the saddle, and walked him out toward the arena. Her plan was just to walk him around and lunge him. She walked out at the same time when Xylia was showing-off her new trick. Sira peered into the sky and smirked. After Xylia had finished her trick, Sira called up to them. "Carful, Xylia! You were about a millimeter off from slicing Arenethe's stomach in half!" Sira said, enjoying teasing her friends.
She chuckled to herself and opened the gate to the training arena.
"Well, most of what we know is how to stay out of combat." Said Xylia, patting Vigilans on the neck again, " But we do know some basic moves just in case. " To demonstrate, Xylia gave her mount the signal to do a battle move the pair had just mastered, and Vigilans obeyed by suddenly shooting up to just above Tora and Lilith's heads. He then went into a steep nose dive for a fraction of a second, and once he was clear of the other steeds hooves, spread his wings causing him to shoot up again at the same time as he twisted around, missing Aranathe by a hair. If he had been any closer to her, she would have ended up with two deep gashes on her underside and most likely a few broken ribs.
(Well, we're kinda waiting for Cats to be less busy and Riverbreeze to get back from her trip rn, but wile we're waiting, would you like to give you a run down on how things work in the Sandwen clans? I know you said you haven't read ROTR yet, and I'll try to avoid spoilers)
(Awesome story so far! But Im sorry that I cant join offically just yet! I’m super busy this month with school and drawing contests! I hope to start RPing soon!)
"Well, most of what we know is how to stay out of combat." Said Xylia, patting Vigilans on the neck again, " But we do know some basic moves just in case. " (I gtg, sorry)
She cocked her head in a thoughtful gesture. Then she turned toward Xylia and asked, “Can you show me some of the techniques the guard uses in combat and flying?”
Immediately, her heart sank and she slumped forward on her steed’s neck and watched the ground fly by below them. Her hair whipped freely in the wind. She felt how her hair looked, struggling to be free and fly, but tethered to the ground with no way up other then death. She sighed and sat back up straight on her horses back. “I thought maybe since you were a trick rider you’d know my mom or your family would’ve. Haven’t seen her in a while, so I’m trying to find as much things as I can abo it her,” she told Lilith.
She shrugged, confused. Tempest acted up and reared. Lilith sighed, wondering what could be the problem while also holding onto Tempest's neck hopefully staying on.
Xylia leaned over and parted Vigilans on an uncovered part of his neck, a little confused by Tora's question. She knew that the other girl's mother had been sold as a slave to another clan many years ago, so why in the Sandwen Clans did Tora think Lilith knew her mother? She guess it was just wistful thinking, so Xylia decided to just stay quiet.
Her once hopeful heart sank to the depths of her stomach. Then she told Lilith, “I trick ride to get enough money to buy food for Arenathe, but I mainly do it for fun!” Then she asked a question that she hoped Lilith would say yes too. “Did you know my mother? Her name was Helena Skyglazer. She was an expert trick rider.”
Lilith half smiled, "Tempest and I like to practice after training and patrols, only diving, spirals, and loops. Nothing else."
She gave her stallion a pat, promising to give him a few treats after. Lilith glanced over at Xylia guiltily, knowing her few tricks were risky but after all, she was a little bit known for taking risks.
She smiled at Xylia and waved. The reason she was a trick rider was to get at least enough money to buy her some meals. Otherwise she normally ate fruits from the jungle, making sure they weren’t poisonous first.
She then looked back to Lilith, too much hope rising in her chest that Lilith could’ve possibly known her mother.
Xylia rolled her eyes, she found it ridiculous that Tora and Lilith were showing off with crazy tricks. Especially after Tora had fallen off of Arenathe's back. It all seemed like a waste of time to her, and it was recklessly endangering both the Kihlari and their riders. But swallowing her distaste for her friends actions, Xylia guided Vigilans into a spiraling descent, and glided in next to the other two riders.
She watched Lilith in awe. She had been training and perfecting her tricks all her life in honor of her mother who was currently in slavery. She clucked Arenathe to sidle up along Lilith. Then she asked, “Where did you learn to do tricks like that?” She asked a completely awestruck and curious tone. “I don’t meet many other trick riders around here.” Maybe she knows my mother?, thought Tora, but all hope of that possibility son left her mind.
Lilith lazily led Tempest near and around Tora and Xylia. She watched as Tora fell, Arenathe would probably catch her. Lilith hooked her legs behind Tempest's stormy wings, and she let Tempest dive down like a breeze while she leaned down closer to his down turned neck. Lilith sat straight up right before the muddy ground and Tempest reacted the same, abruptly spreading his massive wings and letting them head back up in a spiral.
She lofted her head from. Arenathe’s rump and smiled. “Yes! I am so ready!” She exclaimed, swinging up into a crouch on her mount’s back. She whistled the word fly in their language and felt the same feeling when taking off. Like the world was tumbling at your feet just so you can rebuild it anew, over and over again. She laughed and stood up as Arenathe’s flying leveled out. If she had been from the human world, it would be like a jet airline. ( Correct me if I’m wrong Dragon ) Jets would have an assigned altitude to avoid crashing with other jets and planes.
Arenathe tossed her head and whinnied in delight. Tora sat back down in the proper position on Arenathe’s back. Arenathe turned her head, gave an almost cocky and mysterious look, before flipping over and letting Tora fall face first out of the saddle. Tora resisted the urge to scream, and quickly righted herself while falling so her toes pointed downwards and her arms weren’t flailing. She was alerted of Arenathe coming to meet her by the sound of her wingbeats. Arenathe appeared in her sight, diving. Her wings were bunched close to her sides, and her nose was angled downward. The two made eye contact and Tora nodded.
Arenathe tucked her wings to her sides comepletely and dived faster. At the last minute, she splayed her wings wide and rocketed up to meet her free falling rider. Tora bunched her lugs up and landed lightly on the perch of Arenathe’s back and laughed. She looked around for Xylia and Lilith her flying at ease in front of her.
Xylia led Vigilans out after Tora, and then began to check her mounts armor, double checking all the straps. The equipment was all made of a special light weight metal that was held in place with criss crossing strips of leather, and all the pieces were fitted in a way so that Vigilans would not be inhibited by it. This all came in handy for missions the pair were sent on because one moment they could be having to move silently through the jungle, and the next be involved in combat situation.
After she had finished, Xylia swung up onto Vigilans. "Ready to go?" She asked.
Khallo smiled at his brother's words. "Aw, come on Aspentail. Their not all bad. That girl standing outside your stall seems to really like you." He said, flicking his ears toward the entrance, looking for Glen.
Aspentail(Tekuri):
He scoffed and shuffled his hooves. "A little Landwalker girl likes me and wants to tame me. Yay me." he said, his eyes rolling with sarcasm.
Khallo:
He chuckled. "If you're not gonna eat that carrot that she's offering, can I have it?" he asked, his round eyes pleading.
Aspentail(Tekuri):
"No. I'm gonna eat it! I just needed water first." he said, lowering his head to get a long swig from his bucket, before raising his head again and taking to carrot gratefully.
(Lol, I saw you two's rping in the dragon and pegasi one, Nightmist and Riverbreeze I believe. Your writing styles are actually similar to the authors's books ive read(what is it with me and grammar today -sigh). Haha and the author books I read are usually Riordan I HATE MY GTRAMMAR ISSUES TODAY!)
She smiled at the girls and nodded her head yes. She looked behind her and pet her steed’s soft gray and brown muzzle and whispered, “We’re going on another flight girl!” Her steed whistled in a a F sharp tone that meant, yes and please. Torn giggled, waved hello to Siva, and mounted Arenathe ins ide the stable.
As they trotted out of t he barn, Tora turned her head towards the other girls she was riding with. ”Are we going to a certain place?” She asked as she eased into a laying position on Arenathe’s back, her steed’s wings splayed out for balance when ready tot take flight.
( I apologize if there is a lot of mistakes, this is on a mobile device so I will also be typing slower XD )
Lilith continued to wait and see if Tora would come with them, waiting for Xylia to start casually training. She hated wearing heavy armor, sticking to tough leather that had some lightweight metals. She tugged at her moonstone necklace, staring at the girl with short blond hair she had never really talked to, though she looked like a friendly person.
She sauntered into the stables a few minutes after Tora and Arenethe landed. She waved hello to Xylia, the twins, and then Tora. Her straight short blonde hair fell around her shoulders. She wore dirty pants with a dull, blue, jean jacket. She went to the farther end of the stables and looked in.
Tekuri was standing still, leaning against the back to the wall for support. He was still sleeping and Siva whistled gently. "Hey, boy. Wanna take a walk around the arena?"
Tekuri was captured from his herd about a moon ago and he was starting to trust her and a few weeks ago, Siva started riding him. At first, he didn't like it and bucked and reared. But, he got used to it and was now getting used to the bridle. Siva was determined to make him as tame as Khallo, who was Tekuri's long lost brother. Siva glanced in the stall next to Tekuri's-where the handsome stallion stood, awaiting Glen.
Tekuri suddenly stretched his wings, bringing Siva back to the present.
Tekuri:
He snorted and pinned his ears. "Don't Landwalkers ever shut up?!" he snapped, lashing his tail at Siva and at the chattering people talking about their plans for the day.
Siva:
She chuckled. She couldn't understand him, but she could tell he had awoken on the wrong side of his stall today. "Awww. Is the big, bad Tekuri in a bad mood? Poor baby." she teased, offering a carrot to him.
Freya was working as a groom, trying to raise money. Her family had enough to support them but not as much as the higher class generals and such. She stared at her twin, Lilith and her sister's friend, Xylia. Tora was also with them as Freya started grooming the other kihlari. The clan meeting was in two months, thought Freya as her parents would let her buy a kihlara at the meeting.
She helped her older sisters, Quinn and Reyna also groom and tack up their horses, also staring after Ivy and Erik, her younger siblings.
Lilith led the way out, mounting Tempest outside. She sat tall and proud, her feet covered and tucked behind Tempest's stormy violet grey blue wings. Lily paused and waited for Xylia and Vigilans.
(Xylia is pronounced with a z or a sh sound? Zylia or Shylia?)
"Sure." Said Xylia , glad to have something to do. She quickly grabbed Vigilans's saddle and armor and put it on him. Then proceeded to strap into her own armor, witch was designed to fit snugly over her leather garments. Once she had finished, Xylia prepared to lead Vigilans out of his stall, but was, instead, greeted by Tora. "Getting ready to go practice some airel maneuvers with Freya." said Xylia in response to the other girl 's question, "How bout you?"
The young girl of 15 was currently out riding her beautiful mount, Arenathe. Tora sat tall on her pegasus's back with no saddle nor bridle. She had adapted to this adjustment ever since Arenathe seemed to perform better without the tack in the way, although occasionally she'd ride with a bridle. It also made it easier to sit on Arenathe without pinching her feathers. The leopard appaloosa shook out her mane and snorted. Clearly, she wanted to go for a fly. Tora rolled her eyes and moved her hair out of her face and glared at the back of her mounts head. "Do you really want to go for a fly?" Tora asked in a sassy tone.
Her question was met with a whistle, one she understood as the word, yes, in the language they used for Arenathe to communicate. Tora grinned nodded okay. She whistled a pitch that meant fly. Immediately, Arenathe shook out her feathers, arched her wings, and took to the sky. The jump exhilarated Tora every time it would happen. She laughed as Arenathe banked sharply to the right towards the arena outside the barn where the pegasi would stay who were a part of the guard. The arena was around the size of 20 winglengths in length and 15 winglengths in width. The sand had been freshly turned and there were no hoof prints. Green fencing served as a border and there was a South and North exit. The jumps were beautiful, almost all of them themed with the sky and pegasi. (Did not intend to rhyme XD) Arenathe dipped her head slowly and arched her wings behind her, creating a sort of glide and draft. Soon the pair dropped lightly on the ground, and Tora slid down Arenathe's wing. It was morning, a few hours past dawn, and she heard voices inside the barn. It was expected, since it was the morning and there were patrols.
Tora walked in lightly and quietly, careful not to disturb the pegasi. She walked up to Xylia and her pegasus's stall. The stall was beautiful, the wood of trees from the jungle freshly polished and kept clean, which was hard to do with pegasi pooping and sleeping in the stall. Xylia's mount's name was engraved on a beautiful birch plaque just beside the handle to open the door. She leaned her arms and elbows up against the bars above where the feeding bucket and water bucket sat in the stall. She looked in, and for a moment was quite jealous of Xylia. She coudn't afford to board her pegasus in the barn. She only had Arenathe because her mother had given her to her before they were sold as slaves to another clan. (Is it okay if I include that? If not then I will glady edit it out) "Watch'ya doing?" Tora asked as Arenathe nudged her shoulder
Freya tacked up the black stallion pegasus with a black saddle and a black saddle pad that fit his large wings, a black bridle, and durable lightweight silver armor inset with moonstones that covered his hind end, chest, front legs, and face.
Lilith raised a shoulder questionably, "Wanna go on a ride? Train?"
she shrugged, "I'm not doing anything in particular." Said Xylia , "I keep thinking that Lilliam will want someone to go on a scouting mission, but nothing is happening right now."
Xylia was grooming her mount, Vigilans, in the stall next to the one the Cassimara sisters were grooming Tempest. The young Sky Guard was very involved in her own work, so she was completely ignoring the sisters, but finally, after Xylia had finished, she came an leaned over the wall that was separating the two stalls. "What's up?" She said.
Lilith helped her younger sister, Freya groom Lilith's kihlara, Tempest. His pure black coat shined in the bright sunlight, Tempest's ears perked as he was in high alert of everything around him.
Tora:
Heat rose up her neck and she spurred Arenathe gently to move forward and up. She flew a few wing lengths away before stopping to hover in midair. She stared into the forest and could’ve sworn she saw something move, but she quickly brushed off the thought and went back to running through all the reasons she hadn’t become a rider.

What made her turn away from being a Rider?, her mind thought genuinely.

Tora: She let out the breath she was holding. She hadn't done bad! She grinned at Xylia and practiced the move over and over until she could do the third step comfortably.

She surged, "It was a little sloppy, but over all not bad." said Xylia

(Ok! that alrighty)
(Awesome story so far! But Im sorry that I cant join offically just yet! I’m super busy this month with school and drawing contests! I hope to start RPing soon!)

"Ok, what should we do, Xylia? Tora?" Lilith asked.
Tora:
She laughed at Xylia and clucked at Arenathe to fly faster towards the tree line.
Xylia-
"Finally." Said Xylia, trying not to sound to eager.
Lilith smiled brightly, "Now, anyone up for some aerial stuff? Including you, Tora."
Tora:
She laughed. “That’s okay Lilith. There’s always tomorrow to look for people who knew her,” she told her.
(Woah deep)
Lilith sighed as the stallion settled down, "I don't consider myself a trick rider but no, I have no idea... I'm sorry Tora."
Tora:

She shrugged, confused. Tempest acted up and reared. Lilith sighed, wondering what could be the problem while also holding onto Tempest's neck hopefully staying on.
(Wait I just realized something! Tora with the h is the Torah. Ans "Why in the Sandwen Clans xD")

She fiddled with her necklace some more and held the black leather reins. She whispered to Tempest, "Wanna do tricks after? Privately?"
Her high spirited stallion snorted and Lilith took that as a yes*.
Khallo smiled at his brother's words. "Aw, come on Aspentail. Their not all bad. That girl standing outside your stall seems to really like you." He said, flicking his ears toward the entrance, looking for Glen.
Aspentail(Tekuri):
Aspentail(Tekuri):
Torn Skyglazer:
Siva Windwatch:
( Thanks Scippy! I don’t write much, so that’s a lot coming from you! )
(Hoi anyone?)
Oki))
(Btw Lilith's nickname is Lily)
Lilith led the way out, mounting Tempest outside. She sat tall and proud, her feet covered and tucked behind Tempest's stormy violet grey blue wings. Lily paused and waited for Xylia and Vigilans.
(Xylia is pronounced with a z or a sh sound? Zylia or Shylia?)
(were are you Misty?)
Xylia-
"I 'm ready." Answered Xylia, grabbing Vigilans's lead, but paused waiting for Tora's ryply
Lilith already wore her black leather vest-like armor and long boots. She always had a dagger by her side just in case of a surprise attack.
Lilith thanked Freya for helping her tack up and led Tempest out of her stall. She sighed, if only her sister could be with her...
As they walked into the aisle, she saw Quin and Reyna, her two older sisters. They were with the dawn patrol ready to take flight.
Ivy and Erik, their two youngest siblings were playing near the kihlari pasture.
Lilith glanced over to Xylia and Tora, "Ready? Tora you could join us too?"
Xylia -
"Sure." Said Xylia , glad to have something to do.
( HOLY HUNDRED YEAR STAR THAT WAS LONG DON'T BOTHER READING IT ACCEPT THE LAST PART IT'S MANLY DESCRIPTION AND BLEH I AM SOOOOO SORRY xd )
Tora Skyglazer:
Train?"
Xylia -
she shrugged, "I'm not doing anything in particular." Said Xylia , "I keep thinking that Lilliam will want someone to go on a scouting mission, but nothing is happening right now."
Sorry I can't join but I haven't read Riders of realms
(Two months before clan meeting btw)
The twins both flashed a smile towards Xylia, "Just getting ready to ride, what about you?" Lilith asked.
Freya finished the finishing touches of grooming and started to tack up.
Xylia Moree-
Xylia was grooming her mount, Vigilans, in the stall next to the one the Cassimara sisters were grooming Tempest. The young Sky Guard was very involved in her own work, so she was completely ignoring the sisters, but finally, after Xylia had finished, she came an leaned over the wall that was separating the two stalls. "What's up?" She said.
(owwwwww I just broke a nail)
(Lilith Cassimar, Tempest, Freya Cassimara, Khallo, Glen Sunclimber, Tora Skyglazer, Arenathe, Cedarpond, Maiya Yellowsun, Xylia Moree, Aspentail(Tekuri), Siva Windwatch)
Lilith helped her younger sister, Freya groom Lilith's kihlara, Tempest. His pure black coat shined in the bright sunlight, Tempest's ears perked as he was in high alert of everything around him.
(Just to give this RP a spark)
TWO MONTHS but I planned a prophecy.
(Two months before clan meeting sound good?)
