Callum: Light filtered into the darkness of his sleep, causing him to mutter and turn on his upper back. He lay an arm over his eyes with a sigh, "Morning... comes too soon," he mumbled with a chuckle.
Summary:
(I copied and pasted River's summary she did before! XD)
Ashtohn and Sage got captured by Hawkflight’s herd. Ashtohn was able to distract the herd and bring their attention off Sage so she could escape. Hawkflight offered to help Angelstar to fly-since he’s the flight instructor, it’ll be easy job for him. Fawnroot and Callum are still in the cave, but now Callum’s brother is there as well. They're waking up. Kilroy, Viola, and Espen are hoping to send a rescue party and help Sage and Ashtohn escape. And Inigo, Kavani, and Kollin are simply talking and eating fish by the lake I guess lol I think that’s it. oh yeah and Cole is now at the centaur herd after some help from Peacebringer and Avery is with the healer getting her wounds addressed.
Recomments!) Teirron:
He rubbed the back of his neck, "Well, uh... how about Skypoppy?" He asked, (HOLY CREPES THAT'S A WORD??????? It didn't do the red zigzags under it wut dah heck!?) He waited, "...No? Um, Skytulip? Ugh, I already said that didn't I? Uh, um..." he rubbed his face, "I've always hated guessing games." He chuckled, "Maybe it'll come to you when you're falling asleep," he said with a grin, "Happens to me all the time!"
Heisly:
She set it down, rubbing her right hand, "Ugh, that was a lot of carving," she said and then smiled, "I happen to love bunnies." She looked up at Reid with a soft smile, "Do you have an prefered type of thing to carve?"

(GUYS! I'm gonna make a new part now!)
Fawnroot:
"It-It's alright..." She whispered, her voice slightly wavering and wingtips trembling gently. "I'm just glad you're okay."
This made Hawkflight sneer, but he didn't say anything. Fawnroot gently pulled herself back, "Let me help you." She said then glanced over her shoulder at the pouting Hawkflight. "Help both of you." She nickered gently and stood up straighter.
She inhaled deeply and started inspecting both Callum and Hawkflight at the same time, her medicine mare instincts immediately kicking in. The mare zoned out and focused all her attention on the stallions, her face indifferent and serious as she started working efficiently.
She didn't speak or answer the stallions if they spoke to her. Hawkflight noticed how serious she was being and pricked his ears towards her. But, the mare ignored him. She suddenly stopped and spoke in a straight line, not looking at either of them. "Callum has 2 broken ribs, a serious concussion, a pulled muscle along his back, a sprained hip, and numerous scratches. Hawkflight has a broken leg, a serious concussion, a sprained jaw, and also numerous scratches." She said aloud, to both of them, her voice mellow and almost hollow sounding.
(Does that sound okay with you Ashsong? Are Callum's injuries okay? I can make them worse or better if you want. I just assumed that's what he would have based on his reactions)
Rowan:
"I do, even though I haven't been in here that long" She said with a nod
Kilroy: He felt his cheeks flush bright red. Kilroy was not used to blushing, not this sort of attention. Who knew the cure to loneliness was to befriend two children? Why, you did not even have to be kind to them, or even return the friendship.
Kilroy turned to Rowan. He remembered all the drama a while back with her, what with her parents and all. Well, it would be easier to skip the awkwardness and cut to the chase. “So you know your way around the tunnels?”
Rowan:
She nodded slowly after a few minutes. "Alright"
Espen:
He nodded with a wide smile. "Yeah!" he agreed. "Kilroy is super brave."
Viola:
She is happy to be reunited with Espen. “Kilroy is nice! He is trying to bargain with the pegasi to get Ashtohn back!” She reassures Rowan, not knowing the the centaur probably didn’t need any reassuring.
(Hey, @Brightriver is it likely that Kilroy knows who Rowan is?)
Hawkflight:
He growled gently and bares his teeth, but didn't say anything or acknowledge Callum. Fawnroot pinned her ears at Hawkflight, flaring her wings in his direction, "Be nice, you two. I'm not in the mood to babysit." She snapped, mainly to Hawkflight, who grumbled something, then laid his head down, pulling his wings close to his body..
Fawnroot went back to Callum and lowered her head to look at him. "He's...Hawkflight. He should be fine. His leg looks broken and he has some nasty cuts, but now that we're in here, I can see and properly diagnose you both." She said, offering a small smile. The mare raised her head and inhaled deeply. They were safe, out of the rain, and they now were getting proper medical attention. So why was her heart still racing so fast?
Rowan:
She looked at Kilroy cautiously, but ended up just nodding at him
Rowan: She followed after Espen, but stayed absolutely silent
Rowan:
"Okay" she said with the slightest nod
Callum:
He looked up, his eyes widening in happiness. "Fawn..." he whispered, trying to sit up. Groaning, he slumped again. His eyes landed on Hawkflight and worry flickered in his gaze. "Is Hawkflight... alright?" He asked softly.
Rowan: She nodded. "Nice to meet you" she said.
Rowan:
"I'm Rowan, Rowan Wild" she said to Espen. "And I'm guessing you're Espen?" she asked him
Hawkflight:
He opened his eyes and gasped, rolling quickly to lay on his knees. He groaned as he gathered his legs underneath him and slowly rose to his hooves.
One leg screamed in pain and his other 3 legs couldn't hold his weight, so he collapsed back down. He grunted and huffed for breath, his head throbbing and his chest burning. Very faintly, he heard wingbeats. He raised his head and saw Fawnroot descending down the mountain towards him.
"Are you alright?" The mare asked when she landed, trying to hide the quiver in her voice, but Hawkflight caught it. "I think so...Are you?" Fawnroot stepped closer to him, "No...not really...but I'll get over it. Right now, we need to get you back to the cave." She said and started inspecting his wings and body. "Your wings look okay, so can you fly?" She asked, anxious to get back to Callum.
Hawkflight flexed his wings and nodded slowly. "I hope so...My leg hurts the most, so walking is a nope. Flying's my best bet." He said as Fawnroot helped him to stand. "Alright. Take it slow." They lifted off together and slowly rose over the cliff face, the stallion clearly struggling. But, thankfully, he made it back up to the cave with no incident.
As soon as Hawkflight was over solid ground, his wings gave out and collapsed to the ground. Fawnroot landed and gently nuzzled him, "Good job...C'mon, get inside." She said as she helped Hawkflight painfully limp into the cave. She laid him on the opposite corner of Callum, facing one another, but Hawkflight didn't look at Callum or Lloyd, as if they didn't exist.
Espen:
He looked past Viola. "Who's this?" He asked.
Kilroy: He watched the affectionate scene in the tunnels with a sense of disbelief. How could he be living in the same world as them, just a series of buttercups and rainbows?
This is why you are better than them, Kilroy thought. You live in the real world while they prance through dreams. It was tempting to blow out the torch he held, leaving the siblings lost in the darkness. He would not though, because Sagtohn was right there. But he watched them with apathy flowing through his veins like blood.
(The bearded guy is me saying that I could make him die... and the other guy is Callum:
(I might be off for a lil while!)
(Yup sorry!)
Fawnroot:
She stayed there for a second, as if she didn’t believe him, her blue eyes twinkling with concern. “Stay. Awake.” She repeated seriously before moving her head back and nuzzling his chest. “I’ll be right back. Stay here and stay awake.“ She said for the last time before backing up and looking at Lloyd. “You should stay here with him. Me and Hawkflight will fly up, if he’s able to. But, you should rest after that hard climb. Thanks for your help.”
She nickered kindly before sending another worried glance to Callum before opening her wings and dove down the mountain towards Hawkflight.
(You there, River?)
Callum:
He inhaled and nodded, his brow wrinkling in worry and then furrowed suddenly in determination. If he had enough energy to make it back to the cave, then he could certainly stay awake.
Fawnroot:
“H...Hang on, Callum. A couple more steps.” She nickered encouragingly as she could see the outline of the cave above her. She pushed through and they were able to heave themselves over the last step up the mountain. They now stood in flat ground, the dark cave never looking more welcoming. “Let’s get him inside.“ She said as she helped him settle into the warm moss bed in the cave. She poked her nose right on his lips, making him focus on her.
“Listen to me, Callum. Stay awake. Please, don’t fall asleep.”
Fawnroot:
She blinked the tears out of her eyes, trying to collect her rampaging heart. She breathed deeply as her wings continued to shake. The mare whimpered and shook her head hard. “Come on, Fawn. Snap out of it.” She looked down at Callum as he leaned against her-Callum couldn’t afford her to fall apart right now. He needed her, almost now more than ever.
She still trembled, but she stood up straighter and nuzzled him. “W-We have to k-keep moving...We’re a-almost there..” She mumbled loud enough so Lloyd could hear her.
(I responded River!)
Callum:
He collapsed into Fawnroot, breathing weakly. He had to get to the cave; but really, he had no strength left. Or perhaps enough to endure- his determination energy possibly would keep him going. His mind was strong, but his body was very, very weak. Much so that it almost seemed that it wouldn't respond to him.
Espen:
His eyes widened as he inhaled excitedly. "Viola!" Forgetting his fear of the dark and what might lurk in its depths, he rushed forward nearly smashed into her. He held her tightly in his arms so much that he was practically holding the little filly up. "I thought you were gone for good!" He squealed. (AUUUGH THE SIBLINGSHIPPPP)
Fawnroot:
At the first sight and sounds of the bolt crashing down from the heavens, Fawnroot froze. The sound of her own screaming filled her ears, and felt every bone in her body tell her to fly away, but she forced herself to remain grounded. “No!” She spotted Callum pushing himself in front of her to block her from the bolt, but she couldn’t allow him to get more injured. Fawnroot grabbed Callum, pulled him back, and hugged him tight. The mare wrapped one wing over Callum’s head and the other over Lloyd’s head. Memories from that dreadful day of losing her beloved grandsire stormed back to her. The sound of his neck cracking, the blinding light from the lightning as it struck his back, and the way he tumbled towards the ground. Long after the thunder disappeared, she still hugged Callum, afraid to let him go. Her whole body was quivering, she breathed shallowly, and her blue eyes were wide and filled with panic.
Rowan: She backed away a step, letting Viola see her friend
Viola:
As they walk, she spots Espen looking for her. “Espen! I am over here!” She calls.
Fawnroot:
She slowly lifted her head and glanced at Callum, “Wh-What is it?” She mumbled to him, still breathless as she nuzzled his shoulder. She felt his panic, and his racing heart rate became her own.
Her eyes went wide and her ears pricked forward.
Callum:
He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, his breathing high pitched. "F-Fawn..." he wheezed, looking up into the rain. Panic thundered through him, his heart beating wildly.
Fawnroot:
They slowly began half-climbing and half-dragging Callum up the cliff, stopping every few feet to regain footing or check on Callum. The path was barely big enough for the pegasus and 2 centaurs to fit through, but that was the least of their concerns. The rocks were slippery from the rain, the climb was getting steeper, and Fawnroot’s concern about the 2 wounded stallions increased with every step. They were about halfway and Fawnroot’s muscles were screaming. “C-Can....we st-stop for...a second...?” Her weak voice barely managed to call to Lloyd over the rushing winds and rains. As soon as they stopped, her neck lowered to the ground, her nostrils flared, and her wingtips trembled gently from the effort of holding up Callum. “Ack...okay. I-I’m good. S-Sorry we can keep going.“
Espen:
He teeth chattered. "C-c-come... on, Vi-Vi-ola," he whispered, rubbing his arms.
Callum:
He groaned softly, giving a dry cough, trying to put on a brave face. Blackness swirled in his vision and he blinked it away. Don't pass out, don't pass out! His thoughts screamed as he struggled to stay conscious. Callum felt as though he was under water, fighting to stay afloat and keep his head above the waves that continued to push him under into darkness.
His mind was wandering away quickly, escaping from reality as he thought more. He inhaled deeply, but air rushed into his lungs with a squeak. He couldn't relax.
Rowan: She nodded and continued walking
Kilroy: He stared into the dark tunnel, imagining why he though would happen next. Viola would not answer or materialize, but Espen would keep calling for her like a love-sick idiot, and Coleslaw would come along and ask why centaur children were so stupid.
The wry humor could not keep Kilroy’s thoughts off of his unease. Why Espen reminded Kilroy of himself... screaming and screaming but nobody comes...wanting to do something in his life that other people would admire, for once... but all that happens is screaming alone in the mud, blood dripping down everything, and his dreams beginning to crack under the pressure of misery and enmity...
Kilroy leaned against the cave wall to prevent himself from dropping the torch. He stared into the flame, as if to burn the images out of his head.
Fawnroot:
She breathed deeply as they steadied him. Now that he was standing, the hard part was about to begin. She stared up the mountain and sighed deeply, bracing herself for the difficult climb they were about to face. Nuzzling Callum’s forehead, she spoke, “Let us know if you need to stop.” She said warmly with a forced smile, but she tried to make it look genuine. Fawnroot looked at Lloyd and nodded determined, “Let’s go.” She said then they began the slow ascend up the mountain, keeping a firm and supporting wing over Callum’s back.
Viola:
She smiles at the compliment. “Thank you. Espen is probably worried about where I have been though, so we might want to get moving. I am sure that they will welcome you.”
Callum:
He inhaled sharply as he was gingerly heaved to his hooves. His legs trembled as pain shot through his spine when his muscles stretched. Groaning quietly, he looked from Fawnroot to Lloyd and then rested his head against the mare's neck.
Fawnroot:
She shifted her body so she stood next to Callum. “You might have to grab his arm and lift him up by his shoulders-I’m not sure how much he can move.” This made her nervous he could have spinal damage, but she tried to reassure herself by thinking his body could just be stiff and in shock from the fall.
She gently removed her wings from behind his head so she could use them to help lift him. She wriggled herself beneath Callum’s right arm so it draped around her neck. “You get the left,” She added to Lloyd as she placed one of her wings around his horse back.
(Could I maybe join?)
(ASSHHHSOONNGGG has to reply tomorrow, me to, so goodnight everyone!!)
Lloyd:
He barely heard her say 'Darling', and at first he thought Fawnroot was talking to him, but then realized that she was actually talking to Callum.
"Right." He replied, holding a hand out for Callum to take.
Callum:
He whimpered as he heard that his brother was there to help. Heat rose to his cheeks at the fact that he was helpless as a newborn foal as he lay there up against Fawnroot. He didn't know how in all of the world he would be able to get back up into the cave in the rain and especially how he felt like every bone in his body was shattered into pieces.
Rowan: She touched the bracelet lightly. "It's beautiful" She said after she pulled her hand away and started playing with the necklace again
Viola:
”I don’t know. They were happy with me. I just woke up one morning to find them gone, and this,” she twirled the bracelet with her fingers, “half buried in the mud.”
Rowan:
She tilted her head. "Why would they leave you?" Rowan asked
Viola:
”At least I don’t know if my parents are dead. They just left me.” She shrugs. “I don’t remember them super well.”
Rowan: She smiled at Viola. "Maybe we're more a like than I thought" she said, then added, "It was my mother that was taken. I was six, and I foolishly went into the woods alone. There was a cougar, and my mother was the one that saved me. Saving me cost my mother her life" she said the last part quietly
Viola:
”The look in your eyes.” She whispers. “Like something was taken and never returned.” She rubs the bracelet with her fingers.
Rowan: She stopped. "How could you tell it reminded me of my family?" She asked in a voice so quiet it didn't quite sound like her own
Viola:
”It is interesting, how we both have jewelry that remind us of our family.” She pulls her mother’s bracelet out of her pocket. “This way my mothers.”
Kilroy: ”Easy there, Espen.” he called down gently, slightly disgusted with Espen’s excessive ethos. “Keep a cool head.”
(AHHHH NUUUUU Y'ALL ARE KILLING MEEEE!!!!!! ...byeee)
Fawnroot:
"Lloyd...?" She repeated, then gasped, "Lloyd!" She nuzzled his cheek enthusiastically, "Darling, you're a genius!" (AAUUGGGHHH SHE CALLED HIM DARLING I CANT RIGHT NOW) She stayed close to Callum and grinned happily as she spotted the very centaur they needed run down the mountain pass.
"Lloyd! Thank the Ancestors! Help me, please. Callum and Hawkflight, my herd mate over there, fell from the cliff edge. You have to help me bring them back up to the cave-I can't lift them on my own."
She summarized the whole situation, knowing that how they fell wasn't important. The important thing was getting them back up to the cave. "Callum goes first. We'll come back for Hawkflight." She said, then stepped aside so Lloyd could reach his brother.
Lloyd:
He woke up scolding himself for falling asleep again. He looked around frantically for Callum and Fawnroot, then looked outside finding in the rain, all the way down the mountain, were two figures-no, three.
(Correct about the rain and the mountain?)
Callum, Fawnroot, and a pegasus. He raced as fast as he could down the mountain, sometimes stumbling, then got to them...
(GTG IM SOO SOORRRYYYY GTG!!)
(I GTGGGGGGGG)
(YAASSSS)
Fawnroot:
She whimpered loudly as she felt Callum's hand on her neck. She gasped in short breaths, more tears rolling down her face. She wrapped her neck around him, pulling him closer against her. She released a weak nicker and looked around. "Please! Anyone!" She whinnied loudly again, her voice cracking as it reverberated through the mountains.
(EARTHQUAKE HEREEEE)
Fawnroot:
She stared down at Callum and read his eyes, his expression, and she saw his pain. She saw how much he wanted to move, but couldn't. Her breath shortened and she lifted her head up to the sky, feeling the rain pummel against her head, drizzling down her neck.
"What do I do? What do I do? Think Fawnroot! You can't give up yet! They're too big for me to move by myself. Even if I could move them, I don't want to injure them more. Hawkflight's unconscious...Callum can't move. I have no idea how badly their injured. It's raining, it's cold...and I am alone."
She thought to herself, her mind racing with worried thoughts. She inhaled deeply and hugged Callum close, trying to keep him warm and out of the rain. She thrusted her head backward, "What do I do?!" She brayed into the sky, her distressed voice echoing through the clouds.
(AUUGGHHHH i am dyingggg)
Guys, my mom just showed me the BEST thing ever!
Espen:
He sniffed. "VIOLA-! Please..." he choked on tears, shaking too much to go any further. The little centauress was dear to him, and he felt responsible for her. Like she was his own younger sister that he never had. (Oh but Espen, dear, she IS your sister! XD)
Fawnroot:
“I-I’m so s-sorry...” She mumbled in between quivering breaths. “Why-Why would you-...You could’ve been...” She couldn’t finish that sentence as her wings started to shake.
The mare bit her lip to try and steady herself, not wanting to rattle Callum and make him uncomfortable.
She stifled a whimper and looked around for something-anything- to help her. She lowered her head to a nearby oak tree and ripped up a root from the ground. She broke the root in half with her hoof and waited a few seconds as the rain washed off the dirt. Then, she nosed the root next to Callum’s hand.
“Ch-Chew on this. I know, the taste is bitter, but it’ll help.”
Kilroy: He watched Espen, wondering what could drive a person to be so loyal to someone they had only just met. Kilroy had never understood that, and he was equally jealous and perturbed by it.
Callum:
He inhaled sharply and coughed again, nodding. He lay against the mare, never being in so much pain. It seemed too deep to bear, and his only way of tolerating it was holding his breath, which really did no good. Struggling, as he knew, didn't add wellness to him either; but it just came naturally. Ever so that he could hardly stop himself. He wanted to escape his feelings, physical and mental, but there was no way of doing so.
Tears formed in Callum's eyes, but none of them fell as he buried his face in Fawnroot's wing, letting the feathers engulf him.
Rowan: She looked at the filly. "Three years ago when I was 16, I left my home and my father, and never returned. Not much else to it besides me and my father never got along" Rowan said with a slight shrug as she clutched her mother's necklace
(ya, XDD)
(yeah, I'm so sorry, last night I was going to comment but it was like 11:30 when we got off, and I just realized in bed that I didn't finish my comment and so it's gone. I gotta do school, so I'll comment later. Ignore my last comment I know what happened, LLOYD WILL COME AND HELP< DO NOT FEAR MY COMRADES!!)
Viola:
She followed Rowan. “How did you become a loner? My parents left me, so I had to go it on my own.” She asked.
(Earthquake, Lloyd can wake up or something and come down to help Fawnroot. Both Hawkflight and Callum had crashed at the base of the mountain after Callum rammed Hawkflight to let go of Fawnroot. (Hawkflight was trying to force Fawnroot to come back to the herd by pushing and pulling her away from the cave. Naturally, Callum didn’t like that so he tackled Hawkflight, sending them both tumbling over the mountain edge) Fawnroot, being a small mare and also heavily traumatized, can’t lift them both-she needs help to bring them back up to the cave so she can treat their wounds, but she won’t leave them lying there to go look for help. Hope this helps you!!)
Fawnroot:
She watched him awake with a start and try to move and stand. Her heart broke as she heard his cries of pain and as he coughed and choked, trying to get a solid breath. Fawnroot immediately kneeled down next to him. “Hey...you’re okay. Don’t try to move.” She nickered softly and moved a wing behind his head and neck as a pillow, propping him up in the crook of her wing, and laid the other across his horse back.
“Don’t try to get up. Lie still. Hawkflight’s okay, I think, so just relax and try to breathe.” She said as she attempted to soothe him. She nuzzled his cheek, tears still rolling down her face from the trauma.
Callum:
He gasped for air, clutching his chest. Rolling on his human stomach, he heaved himself up with his hands, his arms trembling as he confusedly tried to get on his hooves. Coughing, he blindly managed to be on his knees, getting ready to by on all fours. He was half way up when his hoof slipped in the mud, causing Callum to fall back on his side with a thud, splashing muddy water all over himself.
He rolled back on his knees again, attempting at a leap to his hooves. The moment his knee began to take his weight, he cried out softly and collapsed.
Kilroy:
His breathing hitched as worry began to overtake him into a near panic attack. "VIOLA!" He half screamed, hoping- praying that she would be alright and come through the darkness like nothing happened.
(WAIT, WHAT SHOULD LLOYD DO)
Kilroy: As Espen made his attempt to summon Viola, Kilroy took a brief peek outside. It was still raining. He imagined the centaurs back in the camp would probably notice by now the disappearance of five of their number.
They would whine about how the wheat deliveries were late. But they would not know who to complain to. He wondered if his father had noticed. Maybe. They were running out of time.
@Ashsong (I edited it a little! If you wanna comment now, I think it'll be easier!)
Fawnroot:
Her breathing hitched as she felt his hand on her cheek. She opened her eyes, since she had closed them, to see Callum's smiling face. She nickered happily, her heartbeat returning to normal, and pressed her muzzle into his forehead. "Check, Haw-Hawkflight," He dropped his hand and his eyes closed again. Fawnroot sighed, content that he was alive, and nuzzled his chest one last time before turning to look at Hawkflight.
The stallion was laying on his side, his wings open and splayed out to either side of him. She wandered towards him and checked his body over for any injuries. His breathing was labored and he had small cuts all over from thorns scratching up his hide, but otherwise, he looked fine. The stallion suddenly grunted and rolled onto his stomach. "Don't move, Hawkflight. Lie still," She instructed gently. He moaned and laid back down, pulling his wings closer to his sides.
She moved back to Callum. Similar to Hawkflight, he has multiple thorn wounds, but he looked okay...but then again, it was dark and raining and she could hardly see. She needed to get them back up to the cave, but how was she supposed to do that? She turned back to Callum and nuzzled the hair out of his face. She raised her wings up high, blocking the worst of the cold rain from reaching Callum as he laid beneath her.
(Actually, I'ma backkkkk! We can make dinner later!)
Rowan: She sighed. "Follow me" She said trotting away
(Welp, I gtg!)
Espen:
He whimpered and took a few steps deeper into the tunnel. "VIOLA!"
Viola:
”I think I heard someone call my name! Combined with your knowledge of the tunnels and their voices, we might be able to find out way out!”
(RIVER WHERED YOU GOOOOOOO?)
Espen:
He sighed and stepped deeper inside the opening, looking back at Kilroy. He inhaled deeply and went further in. "Viola!" He called, letting his voice richoteh (?) off the walls.
(@Ashsong you can go ahead and describe Espen’s next actions if you like. Kilroy is not going to react yet.)
(RIVER YOU MUST LISTEN TO THE BIG HERO SIX SONG WHILE READING ITTTT)
Callum:
He inhaled sharply, moaning. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. His heart thrummed, mixing with the loud sobs of Fawnroot as he lay motionless. He could feel rain pummel his face... or was it her tears? He couldn't tell now that his mind was muddled with pain and agony. Both emotional and physical. He had drawn it out too far by charging Hawkflight and causing them to fall- almost killing himself and... was that stallion alive? He opened his eyes a slit and tensed to get up, but all energy drained from his body. Guilt of almost breaking his promise to Fawnroot and possibly killing Hawkflight soared through his body, causing him to be deep in pain.
After a long while of lying there, he slowly moved his arm up toward Fawnroot's face, placing his hand on her cheek. He stroked her face, breathing in wheezes as he struggled to speak. Finally he managed a smile. "Check... Haw-Hawkflight..." It was all he could get out as he quickly slid into unconsciousness.
Fawnroot:
She felt a sudden jolt that knocked Hawkflight off his hooves. She also lost her balance and fell to her knees. She blinked in shock and looked up just in time to see both Hawkflight and Callum’s falling figure tumble off the mountain.
Her heart skipped a beat as she realized what had happened and what Callum had done. Tears stung her eyes and she scampered clumsily to her hooves, galloping to the cliff edge, “No...no...CALLUM!” She screamed, her voice catching, reaching out with a wing, as if she could catch him in midair. The mare watched helplessly as Callum crashed down the steep hill. Forgetting her fear of storms, she descended quickly, landing next to his head. The mare nuzzled his cheek, “C-Callum...?” She whispered gently as tears poured down like a waterfall. “P-Please...you s-said you’d never leave m-me...” She trailed off as she choked on a loud sob.
(this absolutely SHATTERED my heart 💔💔 this made me so sad to write 😭)
Kilroy: He nodded. ”That sounds like a good idea. Would you like me to hold a torch for you out here?”
Callum:
He yelled, whipping his hand back as Hawkflight clenched his jaws around it, causing his weapon to break free. Ignoring his fleeing sword, he charged after Hawkflight, and using his shoulder, he smashed into the pegasus hard, a large thud erupting as a result. He suddenly lost his footing and grabbed the pegasus down with him, descending the mountain faster and faster in a tumble on wet rocks and grass. Callum flew over Hawkflight's body and crashed at the foot of the mountain, lying still.
(I'll reply soon! Just not right now!)
Hawkflight:
He snorted with wide eyes and tried to pull his head from Callum’s grasp but he held him tight.
”You let go, you sick horse!” All within one movement, he twisted out of the way of the sword, grabbed the hilt of the weapon with his teeth, biting Callum‘s hand in the process, then threw the sword against the opposite end of the cave wall. He then backed up and grabbed Fawnroot with his wings. The mare whinnied and tried to move back towards Callum, but Hawkflight shoved her outside.
Fawnroot: The rain pummeled her coat and her eyes dashed around fearfully. There was no thunder or lightning, but Fawnroot bucked and reared as if she was about to get struck.
“Stop resisting me, Fawnroot!” He whinnied angrily at her and pulled her towards the cliff edge. “No! Don’t ask me to follow where you lead! You can’t make me leave.” She skittered her hooves across the grass, her hooves making trenches in the soil as she braced backwards.
He grunted and strained his muscles, his face contorted in concentration, “Please, Fawnroot! The herd needs you! Callum doesn’t need you! But, your herd does! Pegasi are sick and your choosing to stay here. Stop being selfish!“
This made Fawnroot stop and blink rapidly in shock. No one has ever called her selfish before, and his words stung her heart. Was she being selfish?
(I’ll stop there so you can do something! Again I’m sorry these are so long >_< This is hard and I don’t think I’m very good at it)
(BAI!)
(I gtg after this! ) Hawkflight:
His head snapped towards Callum and his ears pinned. He stopped pacing and lowered his neck, as if he was about to charge.
Fawnroot flung herself in front of Callum, “Don’t!” She whinnied, “You’re always so quick to judge and blame him, when he had nothing to do with it! Hawkflight, calm down and try to go back to that calm stallion who asked permission to land in a storm.” She snapped, furrowing her brow. This however, just made Hawkflight angrier. “We’re leaving. Now.” Before Fawnroot could say anything, he grabbed her shoulders with his wings and hauled her forward away from Callum. Hawkflight bucked with pinned ears, landing a solid kick to Callum’s flank. “Callum!” She shrieked and tried to reach out to help him as Hawkflight nudged her outside, herding her with his massive size. “No! I am not leaving! I am not flying in this weather! You can’t make me leave Callum either!” She whinnied as she stared up nervously at the dark gray clouds. “Fine then. We can run, but we’re going home and your coming with me.” Hawkflight nudged her forward again.
Hawkflight:
He eyed Callum’s hand on his sword, obviously not believing a word he said.
Fawnroot smiled gently at Callum, “I believe you, for what it’s worth,” She said gently, nuzzling Callum’s opposite hand, before glaring at Hawkflight. “If you came here to tell me that our herd has captured centaurs and almost started a war, then congratulations, the message is received. Now, go home.“
She nickered fiercely, but Hawkflight didn’t move. “No. I’m not leaving without you. How do you expect me to believe his words of ”protecting our herd” when he can’t even protect you?” He snorted harshly and extended his wings angrily, nodding at Fawnroot‘s shredded tail. Fawnroot pinned her ears defensively, “It’s not his fault so don’t even try to blame him! A gator snuck up on me-without Callum it would’ve ended a lot worse.“
Hawkflight growled and paced back and forth, “One of these days, Fawnroot, something’s going to happen and you’re going to regret you ever met that centaur.”
Fawnroot:
She nodded, "Yeah. Hawkflight. This has nothing to do with Callum." She asked, flaring a protective wing in front of Callum's chest. Hawkflight lashed his tail, "In return for the male centaur, they have offered us..crops? Is that right? They offered us other things that we have no use for. So, when Coalwing declined the offer, one of them said he could teach us how to control fire."
This made Fawnroot freeze, her wings tight. "That's not...not possible." Hawkflight sneered, sensing his advantage, "Oh yeah, it is! He grabbed two rocks, clacked them together, and a flame formed. I'm honestly surprised your centaur friend didn't tell you he has that ability."
Fawnroot glanced at Callum, her breathing quickened, but she shook her head and looked back to Hawkflight. "What does that matter? Our main focus should be keeping the peace-"
Hawkflight reared, his patience dimming. He slammed his hooves down inches from Callum's face, which spooked Fawnroot from his sudden outburst. "It's matters because they can control fire! Nothing can control fire-its unnatural! Don't you see?! If they wanted too, they could wipe out our grazing and breeding lands! They could destroy all the remedies and roots you need to heal. They could destroy us!"
Kilroy: He gave his hands a good wringing. “Of course I care. But, haven’t you ever heard the saying along the lines of ‘the heroics of a few of us is not worth the suffering of hundreds’?
“Besides, the chances of us finding her in a labyrinth of tunnels are slim. Especially without a rope.”
(BTW that quote is from one of my favorite books, The Road Back, by Erich Maria Remarque. The incredible character who says it is Max Weil. Also the original quote says “millions” , not “hundreds”.)
Hawkflight:
He nodded gratefully and shook out his coat and wings. Fawnroot raised her wings to shield herself and Callum from the frigid droplets. "So...what happened? Where's the battalion? Why are you not...angry?"
Hawkflight snorted harshly, "No battalion. And yes, I'm angry. But for once, it's not at him." He pointed to Callum before continuing. "I was patrolling the southern border when I found 2 steeds of his kind spying on the herd. A stallion and a mare. Of course, I had to take them captive back to the herd-"
Fawnroot recoiled backward at this news, interrupting him. "Hawkflight! That could start a war!"
She snorted back, but Hawkflight remained indifferent. "Yes, Fawnroot, I know that. And despite how much I absolutely despise your...Callum...I don't want to fight the centaurs." He said which appeased Fawnroot, and she settled back next to Callum.
"Who are the 2 centaurs?" "I don't know their names, and I don't care. With my help, the female escaped. She was supposed to escape with the stallion, but he was too protective of her and didn't trust me enough. But as I feared she would, she warned the centaur herd and brought back about 3 other centaurs to 'negotiate'" He spoke sarcastically, "A treaty and compromise with the herd in return for the cenaturs release. As you can imagine, Fawnroot, the over-stallion is not pleased." As he finished, he sent a glare at Callum, as if this was somehow his fault.
(SORRYYYYY!!! I'm trying to keep them short! It's not working DDDDX)
Callum:
He glanced at Fawnroot and then at Hawkflight. His thoughts were colliding into each other out of confusion, but he nodded. "Yes, you can... of course." He gestured for the stallion to come into the cave from the rain that was blown inside by the wind.
