Morningleaf's plan had worked well. She had found out how Star felt about her relationship with Brackentail. Perhaps this meant Star did love her like a mate. Suddenly it hit Morningleaf how she truely felt about Star. She loved Star! That's why she had to know if Star loved her the same way. " I exept your opinion. " She said. Relief spread over Star's face. Morningleaf was pleased, the tension was now gone between them. They finally arrived at Crabwings Bay and landed. She and Star settled into the sand, because it was growing dark. " Star," Morningleaf began. " Yes? " He asked. " Do you-" "What is this?" Suddenly, Brackentail had jumped out of some near by bushes, kutting Morningleaf off from what she was saying. Morningleaf stammered. " We're.." Brackentail snorted. " That's what I thought. " He galloped away as suddenly as he had come. " Why was he spying on us? " "I may have said something to him that might have made him mad. " Star said. " What did you say to him? " Morningleaf asked with curiosity. "I told him you wouldn't be his mate and he chased me off a cliff, falling with me in the process. " He said with no regret in his voice. Morningleaf wasn't mad. In fact, she had been planning on telling Brackentail herself. In fact, she desided to do it right away. " I'm going to go talk to Brackentail. I'll be right back, I promise. " She quickly set out to find him. After a few minutes of searching, she found him in a nearby forest, going in the direction of the United Herd. She landed in front of him. Before Brackentail could speak, Morningleaf said, " I can't be your mate. I love Star. I see that now. " Brackentail reared, and said, " You WILL be my mate! " She shook her head. " No, I won't! I love Star! " Morningleaf galloped into the sky before he could say anything else. "You will be my mate! Maybe not today, but soon! " Brackentail yelled after her. She flew as fast as she could back to Crabwings Bay, and Star.
