It was midnight. I stared up at the sky, sighing. I silently reared and galloped towards the woods. Hey, maybe I could practise my Starfire? No such luck. THAT would cause a huge din. I galloped across the forest floor, when a sight caught my eye. I stopped and jumped into a huge thicket of interlocking bushes. The figures were coming closer. Finally, they stopped in front of me, and I could only just see who they were. "Okay, we need to do this fast," a gigantic stallion snorted. "Shut up, with a 'whisper' like that, you could wake up the entire of United Herd," a second voice sounded. I hasped and quickly slapped my wing over my mouth. I knew that voice. It was Brackentail! "Shush. Now, why are we here?" A female voice asked. I studied the three characters, and I slowly realized who they were. The gigantic beast with boulders for hooves was Stormtail, Petalcloud's moose of a guard, and the other was a piebald yearling, with purple feathers. She was only a yearling, but she had every bit of ferocity of her dam and sire. My brain collided with my head as I realized who she was: this was Petalcloud and Nightwing's long lost supposedly dead filly. This was Riversun. "To offer a pact." Brackentail said, jumping me from my thoughts. "I'm listening." Riversun sneered. "Star and Morningleaf's filly... she has the Starfire." "So?" Stormtail snorted. "Hush! You'll alert someone!" Riversun snorted. "And, to answer your very wonderous question, it means I have a CHALLENGER." Riversun stomped her hoof. "What's the pact?" She asked Brackentail. "The pact is... I give you Starsong, you give me Morningleaf." Brackentail said. "Then what?" Stormtail asked. "Then, you clipped wing, we kill her so I and I ALONE can rule Anok." Riversun snorted. "And so he can have his love," this time when she gestured to Brackentail, her lip curled back in disgust. Brackentail smiled. "Then we understand each other." "Give me the filly," Riversun said, she too smiling. "I'll give you the mare, and we both get everything we want."
