Emergency news for all Herd Nerds!
I believe most of you have heard about the fire that swept through Sonoma County in 2017. Well, a huge fire has happened there again.
When my parents told me about the fire, I instantly remembered that Mrs. Alvarez lived there. So, I decided to do some research. As it turns out, she was probably evacuated and her house may be in danger. Over 100,000 people were evacuated and 2 million in California are without power (due to the PG&E Power Safety Shutdown).
76,138 acres of land have been burned along with 200 structures. There have only been 2 injuries so far. The fire started northeast of Geyserville at around 9:30 P.M. on October 23rd and is still only 15% contained as of now. The fire has gone through Geyserville, Windsor, and Healdsburg and is headed for Santa Rosa.
Anyways, I just wanted to share this with you guys, and I thought it would be really cool if everyone sent Mrs. Alvarez a card or an email, just letting her know we are praying for her and we appreciate her.
Sincerely,
Rainleaf
she's ok. she's keeping us updated on Insta. the firemen have put out the fires I think and it's safe for everyone to return
Mrs. Alvarez posted this on Instagram a few days ago:
A fire man snapped this pic of our home, still standing! Our hearts go out to the crews that saved our town and stopped the fire on the other side of the vineyards. We're safe with friends, living without power, going to Target for news, playing Catan, and messing around. Just waiting. One more wind event coming, then hopefully we can go home.
That post was accompanied by the photos of her house that the post referenced, her family at (I'm assuming) Target, her oldest son playing Catan, and a video of her youngest son doing a back flip.
She has made a post since this (a Halloween emoji compilation thingy about she and her daughter looking for costumes), but hasn't made another update about the fire.
Oh no!! That's awful! I hope everyone is safe and her house isn't damaged.
This is bad. that is getting close to my house. How about I write a messege here and you email her?
Mrs. Alvarez,
We are praying for you. We hope you are ok. Remember we are your guardian herd!
