    Just A Thought

    in HERD CHAT

Have you ever wondered why Pegasi are named the way they are??? like for example morningleaf do you think she was named that because she was born in the morning and maybe she played with leaves as a foal? I know that might sound weird but where do Pegasi get there names from. I'm just sending this out so people can share there opinion on this.

Hmmm... I always just thought they named each other like that because that's what they know :/ Like... I don't think Silverlake/cloud named her filly "morningleaf" because of the time of day or whatever, I think it was because she saw this brightly colored chestnut filly and saw the bright morning. And, as for "leaf" she saw these beautiful aqua green wings and saw the beauty of the leaves. I don't know, this is just how I name my OC's. Plus, it could just be their name :/ Silverlake/cloud KNEW that was her filly's name X)

For example... I do not name an OC with "rain" or "frost" if they have orange or yellow or green feathers. I do not name an OC with "blaze" or "star" if they don't have a blaze or a star. It has to fit them :/ Think if Star was actually named "Blazebird" or if Bumblewind was named "Cherrybutt" for NO REASON!! Lol, that wouldn't work. XD I think it just has to fit the pegasus.

Probably, but she's really awesome about personally replying to every single one of the fan e-mails/letters she gets, but it may take a week or two

This is a really good question, and because I don't recall there being anything in the books about it, I'm going to say the reason for the name varies. Like sometimes it could do with their coat coloring, something they did as a foal, they could get named after a dead relative, or the parents could have just liked the name. There are honestly a ton of possibilities.

There is one thing though that does give somewhat of an explanation for a few of the names, and that is rank. All over-stallion's names must end in 'wing', lead mare's names must end with 'cloud', capt.'s names must end in 'fire', and all medicine mare's names and with 'root'.

This is my opinion on this question, but if you would like an official answer, I would suggest e-mailing Mrs. Alvarez at jenniferdiaries@gmail.com

I thought the leaf was their because of her aqua wings and maybe Morning leaf was born in the morning.

I think they base it off the pegasus think about how we do our names like Aria means air so Morningleaf is the Morning(remember her wing color is aqua), and leaf, maybe she seemed earthy? what color are her eyes? green? Or maybe Jennifer chose it caused she liked the name.

Yeah!I think Morningleaf got her name because she's a really pretty chestnut, so maybe Silvercloud(lake) thought to name her Morning and maybe her wing color? Not sure about the leaf part, but I guess pegasus names are another part of the magic! :D

My opinion is they get their names from where they come from like Sandwing Desertherd
