YASSSSSSS. Let's talk about literally EVERYTHING horses!!! Fave breeds, fave colors, recent lessons, tack, events, competitions, articles, videos, if it's related to horses, we talkin' 'bout it XDDDD
Here's an article I found a year ago that I read for an assignment, + for fun XD (the assignment was for PE at the start of COVID, we had to research an olympic event and I chose dressage.)It's about CHarlotte Dujardin, who, if you don't know, (have you been living under a rock? kidding, I promise XD) is one of the BEST dressage riders in the world. She has one of the highest, if not THE highest score in the history of the Grand Prix, and her dressage performances, especially the older whens with Valegro, are BEAUTIFUL.
here's the link: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/08/08/charlotte-dujardin-dominates-dressage
I showed this article when I first found it to two of my friends, who ride at the same barn as me and are also horse obsessed, and they also thought it was super cool :)
anyway, let's talk HORSES!!!!
GUYS! I found my new favorite horse colorings!!! A silver or blue silver horse! OOH ME GOOSH! Here are the pics that made me change my mind. 😍😍😍
I had no idea blue silver are a thing. They are beautiful!!!
WHAT HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS POST BAD RIVEBREEZE BAD
Of course I know Charloote Dujardin and Valegro! They're one of my favorite horse and rider pairs! So much talent!
I like all breeds, but my favorites are Clydesdales, Thoroughbreds, Holsteiners (my horse is one), any kind of mini pony (i love miniature horses), and Lipizzaners. But really, every horse is perfect XD
ALL COAT COLORS ARE ALL SO GORGEOUS AUUGH its so hard to pick!!
Paints or any kind of dapple are probably my top 2 right now.
I have a major show coming up next week. I'm excited for it but also MEGA nervous since it's 6 hours away from where I live and it's Championships. (Which basically means I qualified for it by doing really good at a previous show)
For anyone wondering or doesn't already know, I do Eventing! Dressage, show jumping, and cross country! I'm Novice level right now (2 foot 11 inches)
AND YES I do have my own horse! Her name is Bailey and I'm obsessed with her. Here's a pic. This was cross country at our latest show.
One of my favorite things to watch horse related are the Lippizaner stallions! They are gorgeous horses and do really talented and spectacular dressage moves. It's on my bucket list to go and see one of their performances.
Here are some links that I found that are really amazing. I highly suggest you watch them! They are quite a spectacle!
(And this is what their breed was meant to do. Like Thoroughbreds are bred to race and draft horses are bred to pull large carts or work, Lippizaners are specifically bred and trained to do this.)
Okay that gif on the main post THAT IS SO HARD TO MAKE THE HORSE TO DO I JUST LEARNED THE SIDE-PASS YESTERDAY AND BOI WAS IT HARD ESPICALLLY AT A SITTIJG TROT
How long have you guys been riding befor you did a show if you don’t mind me asking. I really want to do one.
Soo... River I'm doing the show but my coach is doing the paper but i realized that if the show wasn't casual I would have to were a jacket! IN TEXAS!! I sweat when i'm still tacking up!!! But thankfully This time i get to were a short sleeve button up... And I have short boots but now I have to get long ones...

Its SUPER interesting!
@Sunlight No, actually. I've never had jodphurs, but I have had breeches. Riding tights are made of a different material. They're stretchy and have a different kind of grip on the inside, and are much more breathable. My breeches have never quite fit me right because I'm always in between sizes for some reason, but because riding tights are stretchy they're much more comfortable and fit me much better. They're also really handy in the summer because they're not a thick material like breeches or jodphurs.
Lol, I just tried on my old pairs of riding tights and boots, and THEY STILL FIT. My feet have not grown at all during the pandemic XD same for my riding tights, even though ive gotten taller XD
HI I'm thinking about doing shows so can somebody tell me what it's like and advice?
So I found this. I'm part Mexican so I'm learning Spanish and I found these Spanish horses! Andalusians are one of them! It's actually the first on this list!

here's a cool chart I found that could be useful when trying to decide feather colors for OCs XD
HORSES ARE AMAZING! My favorite breed may beeeee....Arabians or Arabian Mixes.
I ride English, but I DO want to TRY riding Western sometime!
At my last lesson, my trainer taught me how to lunge a horse! WHICH is pretty exciting! :)
Right now I'm riding a BEAUTIFUL bay 20 year old half saddlebred, half Arabian, mare! She's new to the barn too! :)
I was finally able to dig up a pic of me and my fave horse, Bella. I had to edit my face and some other stuff out for obvious privacy reasons.
Backstory: this was at the last show I did before covid, in the fall of 2019. so I was 12 in this photo (I'm 14 now). I was in.... seventh grade?? yeah, seventh grade, cause I wasn't in 8 grade in when the pandemic started. The show was at my barn, which hosts a show twice a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. (I don't think they did them this year or last year, which makes sense cause we were, and still kinda are, in a featherin' pandemic XD) This was my third show, the two other times being the fall show the year before riding my second fave horse, Tommy, and the spring show that same year I was also riding Bella. This was the first time I did two classes, the first one was equitation I think, which was ages 12-18 I think... and then a pole class. I got second in equitation and fifth in the pole class. ALso I think the shoes in the background might have been either one of my friends' or one of my friend's younger sister, since two of my friends were also doing the show, and one of my non-horsey friends came to watch.
sorry this is so long XD and in case you didn't notice, Bella is kinda huge XD SHe's a hanovarian, and is I think one of the tallest lessons horses, but not only that, but I was also SHORT when I started riding her earlier that year, and I was still short (like under five feet) then. Heck, I'm still short XD anyways, that is Bella and she was also the last horse I rode before covid hit :)
highly recommend watching this with headphones/with sound on, the music the routine is to is truly incredible.
here's a chart of different appaloosa markings I found:
my personal favorite ones are pintaloosa, varnish roan, and snowcap XD
Aren't they all leopard appolusas?
traditional arabian horse tack is so beautiful. this is on a model horse, but the actual stuff looks like this and is STUNNING.
