Chase saw the blade coming just in time and grabbed Tanner’s wrist so he couldn’t stab him. He shoved the wrist over to one side, making Tanner gasp in pain as his elbow disconnected. That done, Chase leapt back out of striking range and pulled his own knife out of his belt.
The two of them circled each other, feigning with their knives. Then Chase went on the attack. He whacked Tanner’s knife away from his own and lunged towards his crewmate’s thigh. The thrust struck home and Tanner screamed. Tanner keeled over onto his knees from the pain, but thrust upward at his captain all the same. Chase moved at the last second to the knife grazed his arm instead of his stomach, as Tanner had intended.
Then Clawfire came in, giving payback for the week of brutal treatment. The captain’s experienced blows rained on Tanner’s shoulders, hips, and back. Tanner gasped in pain after each one, and tipped over sideways after a well-placed kick to his collarbone.
Seeing Tanner become incapacitated, Clawfire looked questioningly at Chase. Chase knew exactly what the white captain wanted, and he nodded grimly. With that, Clawfire reared up and kicked Tanner right between his ears on the back of his head. The nerves disconnected and the life and rage went out of Tanner’s eyes, dead.
“Good riddance,” said Beaversun from the post.
