Echofrost bobbed her head, her wings folded at her sides. Redfire, the tall copper chestnut stallion that was leading the march to Storm Herd's soon-to-be home, had a determined look on his face.

Dewberry, a bay pinto mare that was trotting up ahead, whistled for her foals. Windheart and Thornblaze trudged a few winglengths behind her, but pricked their ears at their mothers voice.

"Mama!" Windheart bounded to her mother's side like a fawn. Thornblaze followed, but not as enthusiastically.

Echofrost nickered in amusement. This colt reminded her a lot of her twin brother, Bumblewind, who was now watching over them in the clouds.

Echofrost looked up, a bright smile on her face.

Shea, a mare that had decided to join Storm Herd, trotted to Echofrost's side. "Hazelwind told me to tell you that all is well. No need to worry." Hazelwind marched at the rear of Storm Herd, making sure that no one was left behind.

"Good, thank you," Echofrost nickered.

Valen, Shea's young colt, popped up beside Echofrost.

"Are we almost there?" He nickered, exhaustion in his voice. He was panting, and his small tail was flicking rapidly, like a motor, except it wasn't doing him much.

Echofrost dipped her head and nudged the colt's neck in a soothing way. "Almost."

The colt exhaled and nuzzled Echofrost, before trudging ahead.

"We've arrived!" Redfire brayed.

Storm Herd froze. For a second all was quiet, no one made a sound.

Echofrost broke the silence. "WE'RE HOME!" She whinnied. The Storm Herd steeds swung their heads, their eyes wide.

"HOME!"

"Is this real? Oh, gosh. I can't believe-"

"My goodness! It's beautiful!"

"Star would've loved this," Hazelwind nickered, appearing at Echofrost's side.

Echofrost was startled, but after a moment, she nodded in agreement. "He would've," Echofrost said with a smile, and nuzzle Hazelwind's cheek. Hazelwind wrapped his wing around her, and Echofrost leaned into him, watching as Storm Herd galloped forward, letting out whinnies and nickers. Some laughed, and others sobbed. A few flung themselves into the grass covered ground, closing their eyes and splaying out their wings.

Dewberry galloped to Echofrost, her eyes bright. "Ha! Take that, Kihlari!" She whinnied, rearing on her hind hooves. "And they didn't want to be free! Jerks!"

Shea whirled around, playfully barring her teeth at Dewberry. Dewberry flattened her ears, and snorted. "Sorry," she nickered, trotting to Shea's side. Because both of the widowed mares are both young mothers, and they had a lot to share and talk about, and were already good friends.

Valen raced past his dam and Dewberry. "Guys! GUYS! Isn't this great?" He whinnied to the group of foals.

Windheart trotted over to him, her ears pricked and a wide smile spread across her face. "Yep!"

Echofrost observed the meadow, watching as the Storm Herd steeds settled. Already some had kicked off into the sky and were flying loops and nosedives. Everyone had their own way of greeting their new home.

Dewberry and Shea nickered to each other, and they both trotted over to Redfire, who was giving orders and setting up patrols. He sent a group of scouts to look around and gather food. Storm Herd was going to have a feast tonight, and they also planned to build a memorial so they would all remember this day, and to honor the pegasi that have not survived the journey here.

"Echofrost," Hazelwind nickered softly.

Echofrost looked up at Hazelwind and smiled. "Hm?"

"Do you want to go... exploring? Alone?" Hazelwind swallowed.

Echofrost's ears got hot. She looked around. Redfire, Greystone, Dewberry, and Shea could manage for a little while without her and Hazelwind, couldn't they?

Echofrost smiled and nuzzled Hazelwind. "Sure."

Hazelwind swished his tail, brushing it against hers, and Echofrost followed him East, where there were a lot more trees. "I feel like this area would be a good place to ask you to be my mate," Hazelwind said as they stopped. He looked at Echofrost with a charming smile.

Redfire pricked his ears, hearing loud grunts. "Storm Herd!" He nickered. All at once the steeds quieted down.

Redfire turned West and strained his ears. The grunting was growing louder.

And then he heard screams.

"ATTACK!" Greystone neighed, as a humungous group of droolers emerged from the woods, a flock of burners flapping above their heads.

The Storm Herd steeds froze. Already, they were under attack, and they had just found their new home.

But they were letting NO ONE touch it. Not again, not ever. Storm Herd charged at the dragons.

Storm Herd:

Echofrost- Silver mare with a mix of dark and light purple feathers, white mane and tail, one white sock.

Hazelwind- Buckskin stallion with jade green feathers, black mane and tail, big white blaze, two white hind socks.

Redfire- Tall copper chestnut stallion with dark gold feathers, dark red mane and tail, white star on forehead

Graystone- White stallion with pale yellow feathers each with a silver center, blue eyes, silver mane and tail.

Shysong- Blue roan mare with dusty blue feathers edged in black, ice-blue eyes, black mane and tail, jagged blaze, two hind socks.

Dewberry- Bay pinto mare with emerald feathers, black mane and tail, thin blaze on forehead, two hind white anklets

Windheart- Chestnut pinto filly with emerald feathers at the mantel that fade to white at the tips, chestnut mane and tail, thin blaze, four white socks.

Thornblaze- Gray pinto colt with white feathers edged in blue, black mane and tail.

Shea- Very light grey mare with a white mane and tail streaked with silver, light dusty blue feathers tipped in silver.

Valen- Silver appaloosa colt with dark gold feathers, blue eyes, white mane and tail, wide white blaze.
