Forever Together chapter 1: Chase
Dawnfeather worried too much. 'where should I sleep?' 'What should i eat?' and 'Is it safe for me to take this?'
She never had an answer. Dawnfeather the sun rising into the morning sky. Her dam, Charmfeather snoozed upright in the shade, waiting for sunhigh. Meanwhile, her sister Dovesong frolicked unworriedly and happily by Starlight Lake.
Ah, yes Starlight Lake. Desert Herd expanded its territory to Anok's interior. The battle site was by Starlight Lake, which had crystal clear water that shined and weren't too cold or too hot. Wait, wait, wait. What battle you ask? Well this battle site is special. How it's special you might ask? It's special because Starlight Lake is the battle site between Nightwing and Star's legendary battle. And, you might have noticed, Starlight lake is named after Star, the one who survived as the bet said. You might ask, what bet? Well dear reader, this bet was between enemies, Petalcloud, who died and Silvercloud the legendary lead mare, dam of the legendary filly Morningleaf who is the best friend of Star. Got that? ok, back to the story.
Dragonfrost cantered along Starlight Lake. He had been watching Dovesong play with the other foals. He was the loner. Just then, he caught and bright lavender and orange feather out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head towards the owner of the feather, Dawnfeather. Dragonfrost watched her gallop into the sky into the woods. Dragonfrost couldn't help but notice her bright eyes shining and her beautiful sunrise colored wings. As Dawnfeather climbed into the sky, her wings matched the sunrise perfectly. Some other foals noticed and followed her. He didn't think her dam knew how the colts all pursued her except for one shy one, which was him.
Dragonfrost returned his gaze to her twin, Dovesong who was equally as beautiful but not too smart. Dovesong was blissfully ignoring everyone else.
He galloped into the lake with a big SPLASH! The foals around him scrambled out of the way. The grumpy medicine mare opened one eye and glared at him. dragonfrost looked at her sheepishly "sorry!" The medicine mare fell back to sleep. Dovesong neighed "lets play tag!" and tagged Brightstar, the over-stallion's filly. she blinked and rushed towards a bay pinto filly "your it!" and ran off. Dragonfrost hurried into the forest shade. The prickly holly bush made him want to sneeze and itch. He held it in.
Dawnfeather dove into the clouds. Desert herd pegasi foals were allowed to go cloud-level unlike other herds. She circled once around the lake and saw the ther foals playing tag. She wished she could be like them, to be more social. Instead she always quietly came and went every time, every day. Dawnfeather lazily stretched her wings, oh how great it was up here! she thought. She then dove towards her dam, Charmfeather who had woken up. Dawnfeather nickered a greeting, "hey!" Charmfeather groomed her in response, "what's going on?" she said worriedly. Dawnfeather had got worrying and smarts from her dam of course, shyness and flying skills from her sire. after charmfeather had finished grooming her, her dam promptly flew off to her mate, Dawnfeather's sire, Dragonmist who was quietly grazing little ways from the other stallions. Charmfeather nickered to her friends to join her. Dawnfeather lay down on the grass watching the other foals play, she was the oldest of all the foals. Dawnfeather heaved a sigh, she was sad, alone, and miserable.
Dragonfrost held still in the holly bush, he saw the pinto tag a palomino, who tagged Dovesong who was admiring herself. She squealed and chased Willowmoon who was grazing, another loner. After the game of chase, Dragonfrost headed towards his dam, Sunfeather. Her bright sun colored feathers floated in the light breeze. They rest peacefully onto the grass. After dragonfrost greeted his dam, he headed into the woods for a walk. birds chirped their good-byes to the sunlight, bugs crawled onto his legs, and flys bohered him. Suddenly howls pierced the air! Dragonfrost whirled around thinking no, no I won't end like this! Not eaten by wolves! A flash of brown flashed through the tree's. He suddenly felt hot, warm breath on his flanks. Dragonfrost whirled around again and reared, striking his hooves on the brown wolf's head. He neighed a warning to the herd and raced into their safe meadow.
