This one's a long one!!!! Just a warning!
Whisperfrost peeked in front of her mother's gray chest, who was still stoic and her eyes were blank-Ravenleaf looked as if she was thinking about something.
The two stallions had dropped the colt and pushed him closer to Twistwing, who looked more angry than usual.
Whisperfrost had to see what was happening. There was something about this foreign colt. There was something about him. Maybe it was the fact that they looked nothing alike. He was tall and lean, while Whisperfrost was short and stocky. The colt had little to no winter coat, while Whisperfrost had a fluffy abundance of a coat. She didn't know what the reason was, but she was curious and excited that there's a new colt here. Twistwing's cold, frigid voice brought her back to the present, and she mustered up her courage and looked out.
"What is this?!" The annoyed over stallion asked. The two captains glanced at each other with confused expressions, obviously clueless to what Twistwing was saying. "It's-uh....the-the colt you wanted." the taller one tried to explain. "Yes, Stonefire, I know that! But why didn't you bring me a good colt?!" Twistwing snapped, becoming angrier. The shorter captain spoke up, "He was the only colt separated from the herd. He was the easiest to capture! All the other colts and fillies were in the center of the herd being guarded carefully. If we went to capture one of the other foals, it would've blown our cover! This colt was the only one foolish enough to be separated from his herd." The stallion explained, slightly smirking.
Suddenly, the colt spoke up and as soon as he did Whisperfrost felt sympathy towards him. "I was only separated because-" Twistwing didn't let the colt finish. He stamped his hoof and thrusted his large wings outward. "Silence!!!!" he boomed. "Learn your place, colt." the over-stallion snapped, glaring down at him and the colt immediately lowered his head. "That's more like it." Twistwing mumbled. He turned back to Stonefire while still keeping one eye on the colt. "Is he weaned?" The over-stallion asked, quietly, and when the captain shook his head no, Twistwing growled. "Fine. Find him a nurse mother." and at his leader's words the stallion nodded, then cantered toward the herd, who had went back to their normal lives, but still close enough to eavesdrop.
While Twistwing was waiting for Stonefire to find a mare, he began circling the colt, looking him over. "Hm....long legs and an interesting coat....a thick neck...however, not a very thick winter coat..." he mumbled to himself and the captain. "One wing is significantly larger than the other..." By then, the captain had come back. All the mare's refused. They either had their own foals to care for or they didn't want to care for a foreign colt they have never met. When he told Twistwing this, the over-stallion got angry all over again. He pinned his ears and snorted. "First, you bring me the daughter of Rockwing, and now you bring a dud?!?!" Twistwing yelled at his captains.
Whisperfrost grimaced when she realized that the colt had opened his mouth for another protest. She tried to mouth to him, "No! Don't speak!" but, she didn't have enough courage, and if she did, it wouldn't have mattered.... The colt was already speaking....
"I am not a-" Thwack! The sound of Twistwing's wing slapping against the colt's cheek pulsated throughout the valley, silencing the entire herd. The colt stumbled back, one side of his face a bright red.
"Have you no respect?!" Twistwing boomed so that the whole herd could hear. "Learn. Your. Place." Twistwing said, glaring at the colt with such coldness, Whisperfrost thought the colt would turn to stone.
The colt bowed his head in submission, biting his lip, trying to force himself not to cry.
"Take him away." Twistwing said, turing his back toward the colt and the captains, waving his wing, dismissing everyone. The two captains brought the colt toward the edge of the meadow.
Whisperfrost felt sorry for the colt, but there was nothing she could do. She drooped her ears as she watched the colt sulk away; in between his two capturers....
