(SPOILER ALERT) I was listening to this song:
(because it's literally one of my all-time favorite songs) and got an idea.
Once again, you're gonna hear me yap on about how this song narrates and tells Nightwing's story perfectly, but you guys already know how I am about this song and Nightwing, so Imma skip that part XD
I was listening to the song, doin' mah homework, and got a drawing idea. So, I drew it!
(I know it isn't as realistic as my art usually is, but I didn't use reference, and I'm still pretty happy with it) (also the thought bubble stuff says "I wasn't born without a heart". I kinda regret putting it there though lol)
I wanted to draw Nightwing in a way that showed that he was still human (or his case, pegasus), and that, as broken and shielded and closed off as it might be, he still had a heart, and he still felt emotions. So I drew what I thought was Nightwing's hardest and most painful moment: Losing his colt. Nightwing has been through so much pain, heartbreak, humiliation, etc in his life, resulting in his heart being in tiny little pieces, and guarded extremely carefully. It would have to take a lot for him to feel an emotion like sadness, or guilt, or love, and yet he has in this scene. It took him losing something he has wanted for such a long time (yes I'm aware Riversun was still alive, but you get my point) to get him to feel pain or sadness, and it left his heart exposed.
All the pain Nightwing has been though explains why he did what he did, because he wanted revenge on the pegasi, and closed off his heart so much that he couldn't see how horrible everything he did was. Can you blame him? All he wanted was a family, and only knew one way to get it. I'm not saying it justifies his actions ; it doesn't. I'm just saying that it makes sense why he turned into a destroyer, and I feel bad for him.
Now that that mini-essay is done, hope you guys like the drawing!!!
