I have seen a lot of discussion on here about the names of over-stallions, lead mares, and captains in pegasus armies. On here you can put your opinion about this issue in the comments.
In the books Frostfire is never mentioned by any name except Frostfire, but I think that's only to simplify it. I think it might be confusing for younger readers, if Frostfire was called by that name for the whole book, but was call something completely different in one story?
Another thing is, that if you look through the beginning of the book were all the names and descriptions of the characters are, all the lead mares and only the lead mares names end with 'cloud', all the over stallions and only the over stallions names end with 'wing', and all the captains and only the captains names end with 'fire'.
And if 'cloud', 'wing', and 'fire', aren't for rank distinction, then why did Icewing, Thunderwing, and Silvercloud chance their names to Iceriver, Thundersky, and Silverlake, when they stepped form leading their herds?
I prefer it when captains end in”fire” and you know the others. For some proof, Twistwing used to be Twistfire, a captain. But when he became over-stallion, his name turned to Twistwing. I think that was the same with Thundersky. When he was a captain, it was probably Thunderfire. Then as an over-stallion, Thunderwing. But when a normal stallion, Thundersky.
to start, Dragon told me that only captain's names end in "fire" when I was trying to name one of the black foals in "Sunshadow and the Black Foals" Blackfire. His name is now Blackstorm (even though he fell down Horsetail Falls), but I still remember that.
To counter that, wasn't Frostfire named Frostfire as a foal?
no I'm not saying they don't distinguish rank

Maybe. I really have always wondered what Frostfires name was before he became Frostfire.
I was saying I think that's what I think his name as a foal was
I think your right FLamefrost wasn't named Frostfire as a foal.( i think he was or it didnt tell us his real name before he became captain)
