I wanna talk about horse riding with you guys :D I'm still a beginner. I'm currently on rising trot still, though sometimes I've been away from the stables for so long that I have to go back to steering and starting & stopping. Even if the lessons I get are consecutive, that means I'm only getting 30minute lessons every month (I know how much of a blessing that is compared to others but still) so I make progress very slowly, and since I haven't been in the past like three? four??? months, next time I go I'm probably going to have to go over the basics again.
Gosh, my family loves tv shows set in western areas or stuff like that, so I see a lot of horse riding on tv. I always get jealous of the characters in the show because dang, I'd literally murder someone if it meant I could ride a horse every day.
Also, there are a bunch of members on here who ride professionally and 1. compete and 2. show jump!! Like woah, how do they do that?!
The main reason I haven't been riding in so long is because the stables I usually go to, Papillon, is totally booked up. I think me and mum just forgot about it, or were about to start looking at the other stables in the equine centre when Covid struck.
At first it was 22 new cases in NSW, forcing us back in lockdown from the start of end-of-term holidays to the end.
Then in the second week of holidays, 40-something new cases.
Then 55 later that week.
And two days ago we received news there were 97 new cases in NSW. So yeah. Doesn't look like I'll be riding anytime soon. :(
I won't lie. Even though I'm so blessed to even have this chance, it frustrates me that I've been taking lessons since the start of last year and I'm STILL a rookie.
Uh, sorry for making this a vent. How long have you guys been riding? What level are you up to? hat's your favourite thing to do? Any goals/dreams about it? Mine would be learning to tack up a horse and eventually being able to do hunting exercises like pole work and low jumps.
