Kilroy:
His eyes widened and his heart seized. If it had been anyone else, anyone else, he would have taken the attack as useful information, a tool to use in the negotiations. But with Avery... Kilroy could not think of her life in his usual utilitarian way. “Oh, I’m so sorry...” he breathed, nearly pulling his hands off his harms with anxiety over her and the current affairs. “The only way to keep this from getting worse is negotiations. I’m not foolish enough to believe that peace will be achieved any time soon... but we have to make overtures somehow. I respect your decision not to sing, but now I think you can help me in a different way."
Summary:
Kilroy and Avery are having a private discussion about the peace summit, how Avery can help, and the attack on her and Cole, while Cole is eavesdropping. Fawnroot and Callum are in the healing cave, and Fawnroot is recuperating from her recent journey to retrieve Callum from the Afterlife. Kavani and Inigo and Kollin finally finished their food. Ashton is back with the pegasi with Rowan as his chaperone. Hawkwing is back with his herd.
Recomments:
(Idk if I have any for once)
Alrighty, it hath been made)
(Hold on! I'm making a new part now!)
Cameron: She looked back at Sultaan (I know she doesn't know their names, but I didn't want to be confusing). "Are you alright?" She asked him again
Sultaan:
He followed close behind the mare, blank and feeling nauseous. Every step was a pain, but he ignored it.
Callum:
He smiled broadly, greatly looking forward to seeing her herd for the first time as he trotted after the mare.
Cameron: She hesitated before following the Centaur. She didn't even know who these people were. She flinched slightly as she took a step forward. The cuts on her back were pretty deep, and made it painful for her to walk. But she followed anyway
Merrick:
He sighed, but followed after Sultaan quickly. Merrick rounded a corner and spotted a centauress who looked stunned as she tried to recover from the wolf attack. Merrick blinked at the mare, then looked at Sultaan. “Come on. We’re getting out of here. Those wolves are regrouping-the safest place is with the herd.“ He said before surging forward again, glancing over his shoulder to check if they were following.
Fawnroot:
Familiar smells filled her nostrils as they started to leave the Interior behind and surge into Pegasi territory. She sticked to the Vein for most of the trip as they made their way to Sun herd. “We’re almost there,” She smiled to Callum as the mountains and hills faded and meadows, rivers, and canyons opened up to reveal the Pegasi territory of outer Sun herd.
Cameron: "Oh goodness!" She said looking at his wound. "Are you alright?" She asked with a worried expression
Sultaan:
Wide eyes, he look down, his hearts beating wildly. He touched his withers and removed his hand quickly- it was red with blood. He groaned softly, looking as though he might throw up when he glanced at the bodies of both wolves.
Cameron: She was panicking, and panting pretty hard. She couldn't think straight. She pulled at the bottom of her shirt, in an attempt to calm herself down. She looked at the Centaur who helped her. "T-thank you" She said with a small smile
Wolf dude:
He snarled and snapped, slightly losing his grip. His mate lept forward, grabbing hold of the centaur's leg.
Sultaan:
He pricked his ears, hearing a cry from a centaur not too far away. Without thinking about himself anymore, he broke into a gallop, weaving in and out of trees as he got nearer.
Once arriving, he took wasted no time, taking up the largest stone he could find, Sultaan aimed and threw it as hard as he could. A thud resulted with a loud yelp, pleasing him. The stallion reared and shoved the wolf on top of the female centaur off, kicking it with all his might until it was completely lifeless.
Cameron: She cried out in pain, and tried to buck to wolf off of her back, but she had no success
Wolf dude:
He growled and lurched forward, snapping and snarling. He lept onto the unaware centaur's back, sinking his teeth into her withers.
Cameron: Her brows furrowed as she heard the loud howl. She shook her head and kept on walking
Sultaan:
He nodded breathlessly as he limped toward them. A wolf howled, followed by others as well and he tensed, as if ready to buck.
(sorry guys I don’t think I’ll be available today)
Cameron:
She rubbed her wrists. Should she head back to camp? She looked up, it was getting dark. Maybe she should? She stood there for a few seconds before continuing on walking through the forest.
sry gotta eat)
Merrick:
When he look up again, he saw the distant form of Sultaan. The sight of him made his shoulders relax in relief and he willed his legs to move faster. When he reached the centaur, he stopped, but pranced in place. “Sultaan, are you alright? Did Espen and Reba make it back safely?” He asked, his eyes moving and watching the brush, his body tense as he expected another wolf to charge at them.
(Sultaan had Reba and Espen go)
Sultaan:
As the wolves scampered away, probably to regroup, he cantered stiffly after Kelly and Merrick, biting his lower lip so hard he tasted blood. Tears stung his eyes, but none fell. He groaned coarsely; he had to stop. Without his permission, his body slowed and he halted, looking back.
Kelly:
She looked at him, and smiled slightly. Their hoofbeats pounded in her ears.
Merrick:
His face darkened, but he looked down at Kelly. “Not if I have anything to say about it.” He said, determination sparking in his eyes, then offered a small smile.
Kelly:
She raced after him. It hurt to run, because her flank hurt after the wolf sliced her scar open. She looked up. "It's dark! We won't make it back in time." She wiped her sweaty forehead. Her hide was splattered with blood.
Merrick:
“No way I’m leaving you!” He exclaimed to Kelly as he stabbed another wolf in the thigh. “We’re not arguing about this.“ Blood poured down his hand and fingertips. He winced, but ignored it. About 3 wolves were dead, there were more but he could tell the wolves were holding back-probably wondering if trying to attack them was worth it anymore. Merrick looked up and noticed an opening where there were no wolves. “Go! Let’s go now while the wolves are hesitating.” He grabbed Kelly with his non-injured hand, then broke into a quick trot, herding his friends away.
Bye!))
Cameron:
She couldn't shake the feeling that something was immensely wrong. She kept hearing growling, and if she was being truthful, it scared her.
(I'll be back sooner or later, gtg)
(OMGDNESS)
Sultaan:
Searing pain shot through his withers and blood oozed out with ease, soaking his coat with dark red. He didn't scream. He just stood there, wide eyed and petrified. Suddenly he snapped into focus just as soon as he had fell into that trance. He reared, coming down on top of a wolf just as he attempted to pass by. Its yelp fell short as the sickening crunch echoed through the forest. He immediately herded Reba and Espen away, (toward Cameron) desperateness in his face as he bit back the searing pain. He lurched forward at the she-wolf who had attempted an attack on Kelly and grabbed the canine by the neck, snapping it with his hoof.
Cameron:
Her head snapped up. What was that? She looked around on either side of her, but saw nothing. She walked cautiously and toward the sound
Kelly:
"No!" she cried. "I'm the one that brought you here!" She shot an arrow at the wolf. "You should go! You're hurt! Please go! I don't want you getting killed!" she looked at Merrick.
Wolf:
It hissed and bucked. She snarled and swiped her paw at Kelly, slicing open her scar.
Kelly:
She stumbled. She shot the wolf in the belly.
Merrick:
“Kelly! Look out!” He realized Kelly wouldn’t move out of the way in time. He thrusted his body in front of her, holding his arm in front of his face to guard his neck and head.
The wolf locked it’s jaws onto his raised forearm, its teeth sinking into the muscles. Merrick cried out, but then clenched his free hand into a fist and punched the wolf as hard as he could between the eyes. Dazed, the wolf released Merrick.
Boiling fury hardened in his eyes and he quickly stabbed the wolf in the chest, ignoring the throbbing pain above his wrist. He spun around to face his friends, locking eyes with Kelly. “Go back to camp! Now!“
Wolf:
She hissed and fell on her back. She jumped onto her paws, blood oozing from her wound.
Kelly:
She shot an arrow at the wolf. It dug into the she-wolfs shoulder.
Wolf:
She whimpered. But she was to hungry to give up. She leapt at Kelly.
Merrick:
“Sultaan,” He yelled out as a wolf pounced on him. Merrick whirled around and with a well aimed kick, slammed the wolf in the gut. His powerful kick sent the wolf careening backward. As Merrick fell back into position next to Espen, another wolf charged. It expertly swerved around Merrick and Kelly’s bow, then leaped at Espen, snarling viciously. Merrick grabbed the wolf’s tail and yanked the wolf back away from Espen.
He held her fast as the she-wolf tried to writhe beneath his grip, looking for Merrick’s neck. With a grunt, he swung her around and slammed her into a nearby tree. The wolf slunk to the ground and scurried away to recover. Merrick panted, “Go! Run! Sultaan, take Reba and go! They’re after you and Espen.”
Wolf: She stepped forward, her jaw gapping as she inhaled the sent of the centaurs. She hadn't eaten for a while, and she was hungry.
Kelly:
She glanced at Sultaan. She shook her head and drew an arrow back, ready to shot.
Wolf:
She sprang. She leaped on top of the rose-grey stallion, and dug her claws into his hide, and bit his horse shoulder.
(Sry I wasn't on! I was busy)
Merrick:
He heard the snarling, the paws on the ground, the huffs of breath as the wolves were closing in-the centaur pinned his ears and tensed. He backed up, closing the space around his new friends with his massive body. “Be ready to run. As soon as you see an opening, run back to camp.“ He said loud enough for them all to hear, his voice non-negotiable and strained with stress. Merrick doubted he stood much of a chance, but then again, Merrick didn’t need a chance. As long as his friends took the chance and escaped, it wouldn’t matter what happened to him.
He squared his shoulders and lowered into a battle stance, keeping his eyes trained on the wood line.
(Anybody on? If not that's ok)
Wolf dude:
He stopped, crouching. A centaur lay in the grass, tearing it up absentmindedly. Was it injured? He couldn't tell. A low and quiet snarl erupted behind him. It was his mate, who was eager as well to kill their meal. Both of them winded themselves down like a toy frog ready to spring. On the right moment they would leap forward and attack. This centaur mare didn't stand much of a chance, the canine presumed.
Espen:
"I'm not going anywhere," he whispered, beginning to tremble. The little lizard in his shirt popped its head out and flicked its tongue. As if sensing what was going on, it skittered down Espen's torso, down his legs and to the ground, hopping onto a tree and scrambling up.
Sultaan:
He pranced nervously and picked up a thick dead branch on the ground, clenching it firmly. He may not be anything like Merrick, but he had the guts. When Kelly came forward to protect them, he stepped in front of her, not allowing the mare to sacrifice herself. Although she might be a warrior in training, she was still a woman who didn't really belong in war. Sultaan set his jaw as he remembered his own uncle who had been a captain saying, "War gets ugly when woman fight." He said that before he himself went into the battle. He never came back. Sultaan didn't want any mare to do something that they had a choice in not doing.
He cast a desperate glance at Kelly, begging her with his eyes not to proceed.
(Who would like to do the honors of starting us off? XDDD)
Wolf:
She followed her pack members through the forest. They were a group of scouts, only 5 wolves, but one was young and inexperienced. Up ahead, the alpha of this scout group stopped. His hazel eyes trained on something, and suddenly, she smelled it too. Dinner! There weren’t many prey in these parts. She stopped and awaited orders. The leader bared his teeth, “Go for small one in middle or the 2 in back-easy target. Avoid weapons and big ones.” Her alpha instructed before the she-wolf craned her neck back and howled, her mates joined in.
Merrick:
He stopped dead at the sudden sounds of a blood-chilling howl. His breathing quivered and he held the knife up and at the ready. “Espen, stay close.” He said sharply, holding one arm close to the young centaur to try and block his view and protect him. “Kelly, cover Sultaan and Reba. You’re the most trained out of all of us.” He said, his amber eyes flickering with concern, and he tightened his grip on the knife.
(AAAAAA SORRY HERE!!!)
Reba: Panting? She did not dare move to ask Sultaan to clarify. She listened as carefully as she could, but the sounds of the forest were strange to her and she could not pick out any irregularities.
Aw man! Bye!)) Cameron: Are there predators out here? She shook off the worrying thought and continued to pull at the grass below her
(Say, I'll be a random wolf)
Wolf dude:
He sniffed the ground and a low growl erupted in the back of his throat. The familiar scent of centaur wafted into his keen nose, causing his heart to darken at the smell. The wild canine slowly made his way under safety of the darkness, his yellow eyes the only thing you see. (DARN I GTG)
Cameron: She looked at her surroundings and decided to lie down for a little bit. She lied down and started to tear out pieces of grass. (Am I the only one that does this?!? I need to know! XD)
(RIVER! STORMSUN! WHERE ART THOU!?)
Sultaan:
He fingered the sign to be quiet. "We're being followed. Don't panic and stay calm. I can hear the panting." He glared behind him into the blanketing darkness, keeping himself between the others and the assumed wolf or two.
Sultaan:
He shrugged for a moment and then froze, still as a statue. He swiveled his ears, his pale green eyes alert and wary. He put his finger to his lips, ushering Reba on in silence. "Slow," his hands motioned.
Reba: "Do you know of other centaurs being found on the shore? I was on a ship that sank out at sea and I washed ashore here-" she stopped suddenly. She could have sworn she saw a pair of yellow eyes staring at her through the underbrush. (she is from the desert so she is clueless right now)
Wolf 1: The she-wolf crept through the woods.
(AAAAAACK @Peacebringer @Peacebringer @Peacebringer @Peacebringer we need youuu!!!!)
(Here are the main re comments)
Merrick:
He head flicked back to Kelly and her anxiety made his nerves hum.
He balled his hands into fists, then opened them, then closed them. He quickly picked up Kelly’s knife he’d dropped and held it tight. “Sultaan, time to go. We can’t wait any longer. She’s either coming or she’s staying.” He snapped gently before pulling Espen closer to him, glancing at Kelly out of the corner of his eye.
Espen: "Come, what are we waiting for?" He trotted ahead, his tail flicking. Sultaan: He let Reba go ahead and stayed behind, still seething with cold anger. He wasn't exactly angry at Merrick, he was mostly angry because the inabilities and abilities he contained that everyone seemed to underestimate or overestimate. And he hated every moment of it. (We had the idea that since Cameron is walking in the woods, they would run into each other (literally one centaur runs into her, but we don't know who yet XDD
Everything else is just Fawnroot and Callum running and talking back to Fawn's herd. And Sultaan and Reba talking in sign language)
(HIII! What'd I miss??)
(Brightriver and Peacebringerm do you want Fawnroot and Callum to collide with Kilroy and Rowan? They're probably close to the herd by now, and I know that idea has been on the table for a while)
Cameron: She lifted her head, thinking she heard voices. She shook her head. "I'm just imagining things" She said
Sultaan:
He looked at Reba, his eyes softening. "We're going back to camp, and no, I highly doubt that anyone would be angry. In fact they might as well welcome and immediately add you to our camp," he replied, his hands fast.
Callum:
He laughed and loped after her.
(Sorry about the wait. I’m probably not going to be on as much as I was the past few weeks)
Reba: She scampered along with the groups, hooves dragging slightly with impeding exhaustion.
"Sultaan? That is a royal name." she smiled, but her face became serious again and she signed, "I am sorry that you have no voice. It must be so lonely.
"Do you know where we are going? Does my presence make other tribes angry?"
Fawnroot:
She whinnied happily in agreement and nuzzled Callum affectionately. His words filled her with adrenaline and excitement and she surged into a slow canter, flicking him playfully with her tail.
Cameron: She took a deep breathe. Fresh air was one of her favorite things. Yes, she loved taking care of the kids back at Camp, but she also loved the peace and quiet
(Lol, I gtg anyway)
Cameron: She shifted her weight from hoof to hoof, she had been feeling a little energetic lately. Maybe a walk would do her some good. She started to walk through the trees, and looked around every time she stepped.
Espen:
"Come, what are we waiting for?" He trotted ahead, his tail flicking.
Sultaan:
He let Reba go ahead and stayed behind, still seething with cold anger. He wasn't exactly angry at Merrick, he was mostly angry because the inabilities and abilities he contained that everyone seemed to underestimate or overestimate. And he hated every moment of it.
Merrick:
He nodded grimly to Espen, “Of course we’re sticking together. I just don’t think we...” He trailed off, then shook his head and glanced to Sultaan. He did notice Sultaan’s anger, but right now, Sultaan could be angry at Merrick all he wanted. It wouldn’t matter if they were dead. “Great. Come on.” He said before breaking into a tense trot, slow enough for the others to keep up, but passionately enough to make their adrenaline pumb.
(WHOOPY ITS RIVER YAYY)
(everyone suddenly is absent 0_0)
Espen:
He looked up at Merrick. "We'll make it if we just stick together," he said softly.
Callum:
He smiled broadly. "Yes, together," he repeated hugging the mare. "Let's go and make a change of things."
Sultaan:
He nodded toward Merrick in a gesture that Reba was coming. He winced as the burly stallion snapped at him and Sultaan's old self turned back on again. Coldness filled his eyes again and he set his jaw. Why did everyone have to be so impatient when they didn't get an immediate reply? Especially from a mute person? A growl erupted at the back of his throat, but it sounded slightly coarse and empty. Once again, he wished to have a voice he could hear and others could as well. He wanted to yell at everyone that he was a perfectly normal person and could be capable of anything they could do but talk. Sultaan looked down at himself, at his lanky limbs and shaggy coat with disgust. Sometimes he wished that he never existed.
Kelly:
"I don't know if we'll make it back in time." She looked around nervously.
Merrick:
He squinted upward at the setting sun and realized how quickly it was getting darker. Merrick snorted and straightened up. He hesitantly stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on Sultaan’s shoulder, then let go and stepped back. “We should go.“ He nodded back towards the campsite. “It’s getting dark quick. Will she come?” He asked, offering a harmless smile to the mare.
Fawnroot:
She smiled up to Callum and shook her head. She moved ever closer to him, feeling his palm slide into her mane as she did. “No. We will change them.” She shoved her worried thoughts away into the back of her mind, unreachable, and her smile widened. “Together.”
(PEACEBRINGER WHERE ART THOU)
(We should make Sultaan, Merrick, Kelly, Reba and Espen go back to camp)
Callum:
He smiled sadly. "Perhaps you'll change them," he encouraged.
Cameron:
She yawned and stretched her arms out wide. She was always tired. It didn't matter if it was day, night, or she just woke up, she was just always tired. She laughed softly, straightened her jacket and shirt, and trotted into camp
Fawnroot:
She chuckled, but her concerned gaze didn’t relax. “I just don’t know what they’ll do to you or the 2 other centaurs held captive. My herd- my family- while I love them, can be a bit radical and...intense. Mainly because my over-stallion is that way, and my herd simply follows his demeanor.“
She sighed and looked up at him, “I’ll defend you -you know I will- but I can’t promise what they think of you will be good.“ She said, trying not to imagine her mother’s restless and stern face.
(Hey Peacebringer! I commented with Sultaan)
Riverdream: She nodded and tilted her head curiously, waiting for his answer
Riverdream: She rolled her eyes at him and shook her head with a laugh
Callum:
"Hey, it's okay, Fawn," he said gently, stroking her neck. "Don't worry, I'll stay be your side. Always."
Gleamwave:
He nickered.
Rievrdream: She sent him a friendly playful glare
Fawnroot:
She tensed, her smile fading, and snapped her eyes back forward. “Of course...” She mumbled, anxiety rising in her eyes, making her stomach flip, even though she tried to hide it.
Riverdream: She glanced at Gleamwave. "I know" She said nudging him with her wing
Callum:
He smiled down at Fawnroot. "I can't wait to meet your- your family pretty much," he said gently.
Gleamwave:
He snorted, but couldn't help but soften a little bit. "I was just a little worried," he said softly.
Sultaan:
He glanced at Merrick and then at the mare. "My name is Sultaan. We are welcoming you and are going help you." He smiled slightly at the mare. "Come with us."
Kelly:
She stood there, watching them. Her eyes flicked to Reba's hands. She cocked her head slightly, and glanced at Merrick.
Fawnroot:
She smiled softly, her eyes twinkling brightly, and placed her wing on Callum’s withers as he placed his hand on her own.
”Ah, yes. I feel a lot better now. Still a slight headache and dizziness, but it’s not as bad.“ She nickered gently, then drifted closer to Callum as they trotted along, “I think that walk and stargazing we did together really helped.”
Merrick:
His eyebrows flew up as he watched their hands and arms moving in a blur, motioning different things. He tensed gently, suddenly feeling awkward and weirdly left out. Was this how Sultaan felt? Left out due to his difficult way of communication? Merrick sighed as he watched them talking in fluent sign language and he cocked a hoof to rest, knowing that Sultaan would have to translate everything, and that would take longer since he had to write everything down.
Reba: It took her a moment to realize what he was doing, but when she did, her eyes lit up. "Yes, I know some sign language! I know more sign language than Centak!" she signed.
(I don’t know the conventions of sign language, so I am treating it like English.)
Sultaan:
He raised his eyebrows and rubbed his neck awkwardly, looking slightly disappointed. Suddenly he stepped forward and took the mare's hand and shook it, gesturing to the rest of his friends with a reassuring smile that she was welcome.
Reba: She tensed. It was very important she learned their tribe. Was it a hostile tribe? Would it shelter her? Or would her presence put people in danger? Would her tribal affiliations gain her enemies or friends?
“No... what you small state? Small Anok. State of welcome or no welcome? State of peace? Yes of nation?”
Reba knew she sounded ridiculous, and felt her cheeks go red with shame.
(Reba comes from an area full of tribes that sometimes go to war and are governed by various changing social laws. She is afraid of starting a conflict with her presence.)
Sultaan:
He looked at Kelly for a moment, a blank expression on his face. Then he turned toward the strange centauress. "Do you know sign language?" He asked with his hands, attempting at keeping his gestures slow and readable if she knew it.
Kelly:
She looked at Reba, and then at Espen. "Um..." She glanced at Sultaan. "Can you try to see if she understands sign language? Please? She might know it," she said softly to Sultaan.
Sultaan:
He bit his lower lip as the itch to be able to communicate tore at his broken vocal cords. He looked away and stamped his hoof in frustration.
Espen:
"Uhh, here. Anok," he said softly. "We gotta get a doctor for you. Someone that can... help you."
Reba: She shook her head, the young centaur’s words too quick and complicated for her. “I no listen good...” she said. “What nation...or state? Of you. What you state?”
Sultaan:
He was surprised by the fact that this mare couldn't speak as well, just, in her own way. She couldn't speak their language and he found that very interesting.
(I'm gone for one day and i get a BAJILLION notifs lol)
Sultaan:
He stared in silence, pricking his ears as he stood behind Kelly and Merrick. The younger centaur, Espen, weaved his way forward and pranced. "Are you okay?" He asked. "We should get the Healer!"
Kelly:
She nodded. "Yes. Anok." She wondered how Reba knew where she was.
Reba: “Land of Anok?” she asked, sweeping her hand across the horizon.
Kelly:
She cocked her head. "Reba," she smiled slightly. "Nice to meet you." She understood that she couldn't speak their language well.
Reba: “I Reba.” she said, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth now that the centaurs had dropped their weapons. “I listen... small Centak.”
Merrick:
"Merrick." He introduced himself once Kelly was done. "Name?" He asked then pointed at the strange mare before them, wondering if she even understood what he was trying to say. Realizing that this could take way too long and they were waisting daylight, he glanced behind him at Sultaan. "Do you think she knows sign language? Maybe Sultaan could speak to her."
