Apparently I’m making a RP now????
This RP is heavily inspired by the Misty of Chincogeatue series (Such an iconic book series XD) and the Chincoteague pony ROundup.
Note: I am using ROTR as a guide just to make it easier for people to understand, if you haven’t read it, then let me know and I can explain it in non- ROTR terms.
On the west coast of the Southern Continent, there are two islands. The outermost island is large and protects the smaller island from the harsh weather brought by the sea. The small island is inhabited by humans. The large outer island is inhabited by pegasi. The pegasi have lived undiscovered by the humans on their island for hundreds of years, but as the humans became more advanced and ventured beyond their island, they got discovered. The humans began rounding up the pegasi -or as they call them, “Selarkas'', meaning Horses of the Sea and Sky- onto their island and keeping some of the foals and young adult Selarkas to train and keep for themselves.
It has been like this for a hundred years now. In allowing the humans to round them up and take some of their foals and young adults, the pegasi and humans live on their neighboring islands in peace. That is, until now.
A new overstallion has come into power, and is seeking revenge. HIs own foal was taken by the humans, and he is now bitter and cruel towards them. The human and pegasi islands are only a few miles apart, and just a short boat ride or flight away from visiting the other. As a result, many pegasi and humans have become friends but are not owned by the other. But the new overstallion has forbidden any contact between humans and pegasi, and will exile anyone caught near a human.
The next roundup is only a moon away, and the overstallion plans on attacking the humans when they come, thus breaking their hundred year truce. Many of the pegasi oppose this, but are unable to stand up against him, because they are also exiled if they speak against him. The herd is heavily patrolled and they have set times they go swimming and graze. The herd is unhappy, but no one is willing to stand against the overstallion.
As this year’s group of yearlings nears adulthood, they begin to realize that this is a big problem. They know that a war with the humans would end very badly for the pegasi, and want to stop it before it happens, but how? Will they be able to create a plan to save both the pegasi and the humans before it’s too late?
Ze info sTuFfs:
Lives on the outer island that protects the inner island from harsh weather.
The island is called Atori
Short pegasi with stocky builds, feathered hooves, bushy manes and tails, waterproof coats and wings. Despite their stocky build, they are very agile.
Light coat colors. Typically light gray, buckskin, light bay, palomino, etc…
Pale and bland colored feathers. Most common colors are white and light brown or gray. Can sometimes be colorful, but they are always pale.
Their eyes are the most colorful part of their coloring, and have a huge range of color. They are typically blue, green, gold, or a light purple. They can also have flecks or streaks of color in them and can be a different color in each eye.
They have very bold and wild markings, like appaloosa spots, pinto markings, badger face, stockings, brindle, etc...
The majority of the pegasi like the humans and respect that a few foals is the price they must pay to keep peace between them.
They are heavily patrolled by the army and are kept under supervision at all times. They are not allowed to go into the waters separating their island, Atori, and the human’s island of Fugare.
They are excellent swimmers and can hold their breath for up to half an hour.
They eat the plants that grow on the island, and the kelp that grows in the ocean.
They have many unique herbs that they use for healing.
Tame Pegasi (Selarkas):
Singular: Selarka. Plural: Selarki. Meaning: Horses of the Sea and Sky (in the made-up language of the human peeps)
They live on the humans’ island, Fugare.
Many are descended from the wild pegasi that were captured and then bred by the humans, but a few have recently been captured and are being trained or have been trained.
They help the humans with farmwork, fishing, protecting the island, or are just owned as pets.
They have Kihlari-type names like in ROTR. The ones that have been captured by the humans and weren’t born there might go by their wildling name around other pegasi.
The pegasi that have been in captivity for generations have similar colorings to the wild pegasi, but their colorings are a bit darker and they are taller and a bit less stocky.
The humans often let them wander loose on the island if they can be trusted to do it, because they know to not leave the area they live in.
Live on Fugare.
Call themselves Fugarians.
Have a yearling roundup where they check to make sure the wild Selarki aren’t gravely injured and take some of the foals so Atori doesn’t become overpopulated.
They are basically the Sandwens just on an island lol.
Are very peaceful and don’t want to harm the Selarki.
They are led by a council, made up of 10 representatives from all over Fugare, and have a lad council member, who is technically in charge of everything, but they can’t make any decisions without the council’s input.
It is common to own a Selarka, and all the children are taught from a young age how to behave around one.
The Selarki are a huge part of the Fugarians’ culture, and are very respected.
(can’t think of anything else lol)
They also can have Dogs (they would be more like wolves though), lizards, birds, rabbits as pets.
Remember: they are islands, and so there are a lot of beaches and stuffs like that. They are also small islands, so Fugare is really like a large town.
RULES (please read)
~Human - 3, preferably 2 (this is to hopefully prevent the pegasi from getting forgotten and us just focusing on the humans, ‘cause I don’t want that to happen) (I may change this later, but it’s just to start)
~ Pegasi (wild AND tame) - 10
~ Pets - unlimited (they’re not a large part of the RP, just a side character.
Hate the character, NOT the RPer.
If you’re making a side comment that isn’t part of the RP, please put in parentheses ().
Try to make everything believable. (yes, I get that this is literally about flying horses XD I just meant no powers and stuff like that)
No black foals, that would just create a focus that could possibly deviate from the plot.
Uhhhhhhhhh idk what else.
Please make sure your wild pegasus characters fit at least a little bit into Beach Herd's description, even if it's just with one or two things.
Oh shoot I almost forgot the character sheet thing/whatever the donkeys-eating-cheetos this thing is XD
Here it is, whatever this thing it called lol:
Species (Pegasus or Human):
(Skip this if it’s a human) Wild or tame or captured wild:
Family/relatives (wait are those the same thing?):
I know there is already a lot of RPs going on rn, and I prob won’t start this till' June, I just wanted to get this out here before I forgot about it XD also, if you join, don’t get your hopes up, I wouldn’t be surprised if this crashes and burns XD
