Hello, everyone! Rainflight here! I decided today I'd share what I like most about the Guardian Herd!! Please comment if any of these are your favorite things as well!
1. The well developed plot line.
I think the fact that the plot line was full of twists and turns, unexpected deaths and events, and interesting characters really made this book series spectacular. It kept me hooked on the books and even now, rereading them for the third time, they're still just as amazing.
2. The interesting characters.
Every book needs a good main character. One that is well-developed, relatable, and interesting. Star, the black foal, is a perfect example of that. He's kind, curious, reliable, strong, stubborn, and everything we could ask for. But what most authors don't know is that the readers want every character to be just as original. The Guardian Herd wouldn't be the same if Jennifer Lynn Alvarez didn't know this. We wouldn't have the cocky, headstrong, brave Morningleaf. Bumblewind wouldn't be the sweet, lovable stallion he is. The same is true with all the other characters. If Jennifer Lynn Alvarez hadn't taken the time to develop them, the book series would not be nearly as good.
3. The descriptions.
I don't know about you guys, but something I love to read about in book are the descriptions of the characters. In this case, I like to know exactly what each pegasus looks like. I love how the author gave detailed descriptions of each pegasus so that we could envision them perfectly in our minds.
4. The villain.
Just as every book needs a good protagonist, every book also needs a good villain. The author's depiction of the evil destroyer, Nightwing, had us all in terrified awe. The amazing thing about Nightwing is that he wasn't pure evil. He was a stallion, with conflicting emotions and wild feelings, just like any other pegasus. Sometimes we even got a glimmer of the same emotions in Star. The healer just chose to direct it in a different way.
Nightwing could have had the golden starfire, but he preferred using the silver because it took no effort. The healing power requires good thoughts, while the silver requires angry and sad ones. Since Nightwing often found himself full of rage and sorrow, the silver starfire let him conduct it into a weapon to take revenge on the other herds.
There are so many other things I love and enjoy about this series, but that's where I'm going to end it today. I hope you enjoyed! Leave a comment telling me YOUR favorite things about the series!
