Reeling back in shock, Skysun looked at the owner of the voice. Her eyes widened as large as the moon when she realized who he was. The bay colt was staring at her slack mouthed, his bright purple wings fluffed out in agitation and shock.
“I…I KNOW you!” The colt nickered again.
Skysun couldn’t believe her eyes, “H…how do I…” She shook her head to clear it, “HOW can you know me? I only saw you in a dream!”
The colt nodded quickly, “I saw YOU in a dream!” He nickered, pointing his purple wing to her.
Skysun’s head spun with that revelation, ‘Was it a…a SHARED dream?’ She thought in shock.
The colt looked at her with wide, semi-terrified eyes, “I…I’m Darkfeather.” He nickered.
Skysun flicked an ear, wondering whether she should trust the colt, making a snap decision to trust him, she spoke, “I…I’m Skysun…” She murmured.
Darkfeather nodded, “It’s nice to actually meet you, Skysun! Even if we HAVE met before…” He nickered with a playful chuckle.
She just nodded, completely taken aback that the colt from her dream was REAL, and not just some figment of her imagination. It made her wonder if any of the other foals in her dream were real too, and if the foals were real, what about the rest of it? The cries of pegasai, the wild animal cry, was it ALL real? And if it was, what did it mean? And how did it pertain to her current situation? Hazelroot looked up from her work and broke the silence.
“Skysun? Why don’t you come here so I can take a look at you?” She nickered, her green stained wings tucked neatly onto her back.
The chestnut filly walked over to Hazelroot, looking up at her. Gently, Hazelroot removed the leaves and poultice that Lotusroot had put on her not too long ago.
“I see…” Hazelroot nickered softly, “No wonder you flew here…at least for some time…your wing is healed, at least enough to fly.” She nickered, inspecting the filly’s other wounds, “You seem to be healing nicely, I don’t see why you can’t go out and play.” She nickered.
Skysun widened her eyes in shock, “Play? Outside?” She asked.
Hazelroot glanced at her curiously, “Well…yes. I didn’t think that was a difficult concept.” She nickered.
“Oh! Sorry.” She nickered with a dip of her head, “It’s only…I didn’t think we would be left unguarded.” She said.
“Ha!” Hazelroot chuckled, “You think you’re unguarded?” She asked, “There are warriors all over the forest, hiding in the trees. You just can’t see them. They’ll stop you if you attempt to escape.” She nickered, turning her gaze back to her store of herbs.
Skysun tilted her head in confusion, thinking what Hazelroot meant. Before she could dwell on it more, Darkfeather poked her with a wing.
“Wanna go play?” He asked with a bright smile. She looked at him in slight confusion.
“Umm…sure?” She replied, still unsure. Darkfeather smiled brightly before tapping her on the nose with a wing.
“You’re it!” He nickered, spinning around and racing away. Skysun smiled rearing before she raced after the colt.
She was still planning to escape, ‘But…at least I have a friend…’ She thought.
