The Legend of Ravensong: Chapter 8: The Big Day

    in FAN FICTON

Long before Dawn on the day of the rock throwing contest on Jungle Herd, Ashfrost was flying over the trees nervously. She knew that if she failed today, the herds would never be United. As the sun climbed over the distant volcano, she flew back to the herd to prepare for the contest.

"Are you okay?" Echocloud asked when Ashfrost landed.

"Yes," she replied hesitantly. "No! I can't do it. I know I will fail!"

"Sweet filly," Echocloud started while sweeping her filly with her wings. "All you can do today is your best and you can't ask more of yourself. If you don't win that contest maybe it just means that we were meant to go on without a healer."

"I know," replied Ashfrost. "But I feel like it's my responsibility to make sure Ravensong lives until her birthday."

"I know. But remember throughout everything that happens today, you can only do your best." Echocloud then flew away to take care of some last minute preparations for the contest and left Ashfrost to think about her words.

"Mama's right," she thought. "I can only do my best and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
