Dark clouds started rolling in a few hours after the warriors had set off, and there was still no sign of their return. Ravensong was starting to worry because her brother, Darkwind, was a part of the raiding party. She could only imagine what Cloudwing, overstallion of Mountain Herd, would do to the warriors if they were captured.

Standing alone,she started pacing back and forth under a large tree. She noticed her friends standing in a clump whispering and glancing in her direction. A few moments later, they lifted off and skimmed over the grass to where she was standing. This group consisted of Summerglade, Moonstone, Thunderstone, Lakesky, and her yearling brother, Stormwind. When they landed, she immediately burst out and said, "They never should have done this. It's too dangerous. If they get captured and die I'll never ever forgive my father for sending them on this mission."

"Ravensong," started Stormwind gently, who was Summerglade's best friend. "You need to calm down. Everything is going to be okay." He placed his right wing on her shoulder.

"Stormwind is right. Everything has been planned too carefully for anything to go wrong," commented Moonstone while placing her left wing on Ravensong's other shoulder .

They all stood together silently until a few minutes later a pegasus cried, "Look! There they are!"

Ravensong searched the sky, craning her neck until the raiding party came into focus. Moonstone, Lakesky, and Thunderstone watched Rvensong's expressions as she stared into the sky. They could see her eyes searching to make sure everyone was safe. Suddenly, she collapsed in a heap on the ground. "Ravensong!" Moonstone shrieked. "What's the matter!?"

"Darkwind and another pegasus..." she trailed off. "They're gone."
