Almost a month after the death of her mother, Morningleaf, had crushed her deeply Morningstar stood on a steep embankment, she watched her young foals running in the field below. She had been a mother for almost 2 years now. Her oldest foal, Smokeburst and her younger foal, Heatherblaze played tag in the field, Morningstar smiled against the sad memories in her mind, she remembered her sire's death and now her mother's. She felt the wind whip her face and smiled softly, her sire had shone her this place when she was very young.

Her mate Stormblaze walked up to her. "Hey Morningstar!" He whinnied gently.

Morningstar smiled and buried her head in his chest and he wrapped her in his wings.

Starleaf looked up as his mate Shythorn looked at him. "Hey Shythorn how is Starflight?" He asked, talking about his 6 month old foal who was trying to fly.

Shythorn laughed. "He well he is planning to run off a cliff and I told him to have an angry army chase him, that worked for Star!"

Starleaf smiled at her but turned, "Where is Morningstar?" He asked after almost a month of not seeing her.

Shythorn shrugged and smiled when she saw Larkfrost and her mate Clawpebble walk up to them leading a small speckled foal. "Hello Starleaf! Shythorn!" Clawpebble called to them. "We are here to call you to a meeting called by Morningstar," He said.

Starleaf nodded and whispered to Shythorn, "Lets get Starflight and go to the meeting." He said.

An hour later Brackensky walked next to her mate Bumblebreeze. They had been together for almost 5 years but she was saddened by not having any foals. She had wanted to have at least one foal but had not been able to since becoming Bumblebreeze's mate. They reached the council tree and took their places.
