I was supposed to make this in the fan fic, but i accidentally put the first part in herd chat. There are be some changes. Here are chapters one and two!
It was a dark and stormy night. Ravenfire's mane was pressed against his cloud-white blaze as he glided through the soaked trees. "Dapplefeather! Dapplefeather!" His desperate brays echoed in the deadly, dark, forest. Dapplefeather, his mate, had been banished from Storm Herd, accused of murder. Ravenfire knew clearly that Breezecloud wasn't murdered by Dapplefeather, but a mare named Swiftleaf. Swiftleaf loved Ravenfire, but Ravenfire only loved one mare; Dapplefeather. Swiftleaf had made it look like Dapplefeather who killed their lead mare in hope of being left alone with Ravenfire. She thought that mabye then she could make him love her. Ravenfire had escaped from Storm Herd to find Dapplefeather. As he thought of her, guilt pierced thogh his heart. It had been his fault that his beloved was gone. Tears rolled down his night-black fur. What if Dapplefeather had died? What if she was taken by the horrible Poison Herd? His heart thumped with anxiety. He might even never see her again!
Suddenly, he heard a rustle in the bushes ahead. Trembling, the stallion landed on the damp mosy fort floor. He slunk slowly towards the suspicious noise. Ravenfire was full of hope of finding Dapplefeather, but also full of fear of what else it could be. Ravenfire soon found the source of sound. It was coming from a bush! He tentatively gave it a whack with his wing. Collected droplets of rain dripped onto the soft soil. A squirrel dashed out and away. Ravenfire blushed guiltily.
"Sorry, little squirrel! I didn't mean to disturb your rest." He continued to trudge along the mossy forest, and the trees thinned out. He erupted into the weak dawn sunlight, into a meadow. A rainbow hung across the sky. "Where is this?" he muttered to himself. It wasn't marked on any map back at Storm Herd. Ravenblaze's eyes started to droop. "I sure hope I'm not hallucinating."
The silhuoette of a pegasus rose along the edge of a hill. She waved a large wing, calling for him to come. "Dapplefeather!" he brayed. "Dapplefeather!"
As Ravenfire neared the pegasus, he felt his blood run cold. It wasn't Dapplefeather. Swiftleaf stood ahead of him.
The sky herder smiled sweetly. "I knew you would come! Do you want me to welcome you with a friendly hug, my love?"
Ravenfire spat in rage. "Don't call me your love! Tell me where Dapplefeather is. Please!"
Swiftleaf twirled her mane with her wing tip. "Under one condition. You be my mate, I be yours. Then I will tell you where it is."
Shock coursed through his veins. "No way! And do not call Dapplefeather an it!"
Swiftleaf shrugged innocently. "Then there's going to be one mare who will be unfound."
Ravemfire whinnied and took off for the sky. "I'll find Dapplefeather without your help!"
She nickered wickedly in deligt. "You won't ever find her!"
He shut his eyes and concentrated on gliding. Ravenfire scanned the trees and scoured the praries. Their was still no sight of Dapplefeather. She must be waiting for him somewhere! By the time he rested, the sun was already high. The rain had dried and sweat had replaced it. His wings were cramped and his lips were cracked. Ravenfire took a brief wash and drink by a stream, and immediately took off again. He considered giving up and mating with Swiftleaf. No! he told himself. If Dappleleaf won't give up on me, I won't give up on her! But thoughts haunted him. Maybe she was captured by Glacier Herd steeds and was tortured! He finally gave up and flew back to Swiftleaf.
Swiftleaf was preening her feathers right where he had left her. "Come on," she huffed without looking up. "I'll tell you where it is if you be my mate."
"That's what I am here for," he hissed through gritted teeth. "I'll take that pegusus cursed role as your mate if you tell me where Dappleleaf is."
She lightly patted the grass besides her, motioning for him to make himself comfortable. "Here.""
Ravenfire shuffled into a tense crouch besides her, ears flat. "Tell me where she is!"
Swiftleaf pricked her ears thoughtfully. "It's a meadow," she nickered, giving him a hint. "With many, many pegasi."
He frowned. "Diamondtree Meodow?" he guessed doubtfully. "It was pne of Flame Herd's largest meodow. There were constantly elders and dams with their foals stretching under the shade of the large, blue-white trees on the soft, juicy, fluffy grass.
Swiftleaf positively snickered. "It's way better than that. Golden, they call it."
Ravenfire sighed, not understanding. "Then do you mean Glimmering Lake Meadow?"
She once again shook her head. "Don't you get it, love?"
His blood ran cold as he finally understood. "Why?" he whispered softly. Then, in a thunderous bray he roared, "WHY?" The eerie sound was thick with emoion; pain, grief, rage, fury, regret, and dispair.
Swiftleaf flashed him a smug grin. "Come on, let's get back to the herd. Or would you first like to hear which cliff I broke her dappled wings on and pushed her off?"
Raveblaze was gliding across a new stretch of jungle-like land. Where was this? He shrugged. He was scouring the new land for pegasi to start his own herd. Dapplefeather was carrying a foal. he wanted a whole herd to protect his mate and his foal.
He wiped sweat of his forehead with a wing. The land was strange and humid, and it reminded his of Jungle Herd. He slightly missed Anok. There was no luck of finding anyone. Thruthfully, they were across the Dark Waters, living in parts of the land where landwalkers hadn't explored yet. The stallion headed back for his family.
The word 'family' was singing on his tongue. His whole life, a family was what he wanted with Dapplefeather. And now, he had received his wish. He sent a silent thanks ot the Ancestors.
His mate was waiting for him at the mouth of a small cave she had discovered.
"No luck, hmm?" she asked. She was laying down, her enlarged stomach showing.
He sighed and shook his head. "This [lace feels almost abandoned... ominous. Something Isn't right here. Can't you feel it?"
Dapplefeather snorted. "Anyone can feel it. I like the warm weather in the winter instead of the harsh bitterr snow."
He couldn't help but surpress a chuckle. Everything had their pros and cons. "Did you go out and graze yet?"
She nodded. "The grass is lush and juicy. I had my first full meal for days."
"The sun is setting. We should sleep now."
"Who's 'we'?" she tested.
"You, me, and our unborn foal," he replied with a huff of happiness.
Dapplefeather paced to the cave's mouth and whinnied, "Our unborn foal!"
He trotted up besides her and echoed, "Our unborn foal!"
Ravenblaze's mate frowned. "We haven't got a name yet, you know."
"Easy," he replied. "We just combine our names."
She din't get it. "Ravenblazedapplefeather or Dapplefeatherravenblaze?"
"No, like Ravenfeather or Dappleblaze or Ravendapple or Blazefeather and so on."
"ooh," she sighed. "Nice idea. I'll think 'bout it."
They fell into a deep sleep.
Uhh. anyone? help. i dunno how to continue.
Ravenfire lowered his head. "Forgive me spirits, but I have to go," he whispered. Suddenly, he reared and kicked Stonefire away, and flapped for the clouds. He angled his wings and flew straight for the jet streams. "If Dapplefeather dies, then I do too!"
Stonefire struggled up and glided after him. "Come back!" The captains followed, and Strikewing brayed furiously after them.
"Let him go! He's as much use to me as a dead bear!" The captains hovered in the clouds and then darted back to their leader.
Ravenfire burst through the clouds, narrowing his eyes against the sharp rays of the sun. He flew higher and higher, so high that tears whipped his eyes and sweat rolled down his hide. He stuggled to breathe, taking deep, raspy breaths. He heard something cry behind, hi, but he didn't mind. He didn't care. The cloud sweat that had collected in his fur vanished. he felt a soft current. A jet stream!
The voice that had called sounded again, louder and closer. Pants heaved from the pegasus behind him. "Ravenfire! Ravenfire, do you hear me!"
That voice made him stop in his tracks. the soft, caring, desperate cry, tinkling like summer bells. He whirled around, and saw what he had thought he would never see again. Dapplefeather. He forgot everything. He knew nothing but his true mate. he darted for her faster than he had ever went, careening into her, sending both of them flying down. Tears rolled down his face. "Dapplefeather!"
She blinked her warm blue eyes lovingly at him. "You didn't think that I'd leave you, right?" She flipped and glided besides him, flying across Anok. He trailed after her, such desperation to get closer to her.
"But, but Swiftleaf, she said you were..." Ravenfire's voice flew away, unable to say the horrible word.
Dapplefeather's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh did she..." she growled, teeth gritting in disgust. "I'll kill her the next time I see her."
Ravenfire blinked in embarrassment. "Oh. Whoops. I did that for you."
Dapplefeather gasped in mock horror. "how could you, you rat of a heart! Murdurer! I never want to see you again! You murdured her! Why, you're exiled from this clan!"
He nickered in amusement. Nuzzling her, he asked, "What do you want to do now?"
She softly nickered back. "I want to get away from here, far as possible, and start our own herd. You as an over-stallion, and I as a lead mare. How does that sound?"
okay... to satisfy dragon
Ravenfire glared at Swiftleaf hard. "Murderer," he hissed darkly under his breath.
Swiftleaf snorted, hurt. "Is this how a mate treats another?"
He couldn't control himself any longer. Hatred pulsed in his gaze, and he advanced on her. "Why did you kill her?" he brayed.
Swiftleaf took a wary step back. "She's a distraction!"
Ravenfire lunged. It was a move only warriors used in battle. But Swiftleaf was his enemy. He slammed an angry foot down on her skull. Her scream echoed through the valley. Blood poured from her head onto the soft grass. The sky herder's eyes widened and her head tilted back and fell limp.
He backed away, nervous but not regretful. Swiftleaf's broken body lay there on the grass, and yet he felt no guilt. He felt a small thrill at avenging his mate's death. Ravenfire was just about to lift off when he heard the pounding of hoofsteps.
"Halt!" Ravenfire recognized the voice in an instant. The cry of his over-stallion, Strikewing, was unmistakable.
He turned and spun around to see Strikewing gliding over at him. "What has happened?" He whirled and thumped the captain onto the floor. "What has happened?" Strikewing repeated, pinning him down. He saw Swiftleaf and shoved the sharp edge of his hoof into his coal black fur. "Explain yourself."
Ravenfire flinched in pain. "She killed Dapplefeather!"
The other captains caught up, surrounding Ravenfire in a ragged circle. Strikewing narrowed his eyes in disbelief. "We are bringing you back to discuss this with the herd."
Ravenfire struggled to his hooves and trailed weakly after his over-stallion, hopeless. His herdmates weren't happy and easy with him now; they wore a grim scowls on their faces. He saw his brother too, equally cold. "Stonefire?" he pleaded.
He looked away but didn't reply. Another captain, Hollowfire, nipped him sharply on the flank. Horror blazed through Ravenfire. His herdmates were turning on him!
Ugh, how can Ravenfire let Swiftleaf push him around like that? Anyways, great story
