Jay was laughing. Laughing at the fact that Ember yelled at the King. She rolled her eyes. “Oh, I would’ve loved to see the look on his face! I can just imagine the stunned look,” he exclaimed. Ember’s scowl deepened, and she glared at him. “The look on who’s face?” A small voice asked.
Ember looked down at her younger brother, and her face softened. “Nothing Sammy. How about you back to playing with Robin?” Robin barked at his name being said.
Robin was a 3-year-old German Shepherd. Sammy found him on the streets and decided that the dog would become a part of the family too. Ember was hesitant at first, but soon gave into Samuel’s request.
The boy shook his head. “No! I want to stay here with you and Uncle Jay!” He pleaded. Ember shook her head, and Samuel knew it was the end of the conversation. He shook his head and walked back to Robin.
Jay was grinning. “That kid adores you, you know?” He said. Ember nodded. “I know. Sometimes I think that I don’t do the best job taking care of him though,” she admitted. Jay’s grin faded. “You’re doing a great job with him, Em. From what I can tell, Samuel worships the ground that you walk on,” he assured her. Ember nodded.
“We should head home. It’s getting late, and Samuel needs to sleep,”
River was sitting across from Kyriv, who had a stern look on his face. “Look, Kyriv, I know I messed up. I got caught and was almost killed. How can I make it up to you?” He asked. Kyriv smiled slightly. “We have a new mission for you,” he said. River furrowed his eyebrows as the older man took a note out of one of the drawers.
Kyriv handed River the paper. “Now, don’t open it. We need you to deliver this to the General’s chamber,” He informed the young Civil. “One of our informants has told us that Ember and the King are fighting. We need to persuade her before it’s too late,”
Ember was sitting on her bed, next to where Samuel was sleeping, when an arrow shot through her window. She stood up and walked to the weapon. There was a note attached to it. Ember stared at it for a few moments before reading it.
General Ember Contrell,
We hope that this letter finds you in good health, and hope that you will hear us out. We desperately need help, and you are the only one that can provide us that. We wrote this to offer you a position in the Initiative. If you wish to join us, go to the willow tree at the edge of the Sherdon Woods
Another chapter! How do you guys feel about Jay, Sammy, and Kyriv? Also, what are your thoughts on our main characters, Ember and River?
I was thinking about making a schedule for updates, what days do you guys think that should happen?
