Ok, so since this my first fan fic, it might not be that good, but please comment! I had a hard time figuring this story out, but I think the Prologue turned out pretty well. Enjoy!!! (Also, I'm gonna try to post 1 or two chapters a week, just so you know.)

Star looked down at his month-old filly, Riverblaze. She had fallen asleep under his wing and was now snoring quietly.

Summertail, Stars yearling colt, and Star’s mate, Morningleaf, were swimming in Big Sky Lake. Summertail paddled towards shore, and came out shivering. Morningleaf followed, and they lay down beside Star and Riverblaze.

Morningleaf blew in Star’s mane.

“Good night,” she said, as Summertail yawned.

The next morning, Riverblaze opened and closed her eyes. Everything was black. She realized that they were black feathers, and Riverblaze squirmed out from underneath her father's wing. She blinked at the sun and stretched her midnight blue wings.

“I need to fly,” Riverblaze whispered to herself, and took off into the sky. She wasn’t yet weaned, and wasn’t allowed to fly high, but her parents were sleeping and there was no one around, she figured it would be worth a shot.

Riverblaze flew higher and higher, flying in dizzy loops, and dodging trees. Wind blew through her short mane and leaves got stuck in her tail.

Finally, she stopped flying and looked around. Large trees surrounded her, and they all looked the same. Suddenly, Riverblaze realized she was lost. Then, a tree branch snapped, and the leaves rustled. She heard voices. Riverblaze turned around, her eyes wide, and she was face to face with a black eyed, dapple grey stallion.

“Get her,” he said, and pounced.
