Kevty settled down in her bunk after a long day of training, she was tired but happy. After brushing her long brown hair and braiding it she sat down on her bed, studying her lightsaber. It was so strange, the hilt was straight but there was an extra piece on her hilt. She twisted it and all of a sudden it turned into a long whip of blue energy. “WHAT?!” she dropped the saber and it disignigted when it hit the ground.
The door to her room burst open. “What happened?” Extrisa asked.
She stared at the girl who’d burst into her room. “What’s wrong?”
“Why were you yelling?”
“I just got startled, that’s it,” Kevty said.
“Startled by what?!” Extrisa asked.
“I just dropped my saber and nearly sliced off my foot, that’s all. Sorry to disturb you.”
Exstrisa sighed and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Kevty knelt by her saber and slowly picked it up. She turned the hilt around and around in her hand, trying to figure out what had happened. She pressed the button to activate the blade. It looked like a normal lightsaber. “What?” She turned the extra piece on the hilt and the blade turned into a lightwhip. She was startled but didn’t drop it this time.
The Kyber crystal started humming softly.
Kevty smiled, she loved it when her Kyber crystal sang to her. She de-ignited the lightwhip and decided not to tell anyone about it yet.
“So, Kevty want to teach me how to make a lightsaber?” one of the twi’lek younglings asked.
“When you’re older I’ll help you, Lenira.”
“Thanks!” the little girl said before running back to join her group.
Kevty smiled and sat down with her group, waiting for Master Ezra and Master Sabine to start the assembly.
Ezra walked on stage, Sabine at his side. “Students, I have good news! A group of padawans will be going on a special mission, to the outer rim!”
The students erupted in cheers.
“Padawans from groups 2 and 4, please meet me after the assembly,” Ezra said, then walked off the stage.
Kevty was frozen in place. Her group was group number 2.
After the assembly ended Aidor tapped on her shoulder. “Kevty, come on. Master Ezra said for our group to go meet with him.”
Kevty nodded and stood up, following the rest of their group.
“Padawan Kevty, Padwan Lira, Padawan Elilan. These are the padwans from group 2 that will be going on the mission.”
“W-what about Aidor? Isn’t he coming?!” “No, Aidor isn’t going. He will be working in the Arcives,” Ezra said.
“When do we leave.”
Kevty nodded. She’d be going on a mission to the outer rim by herself, with none of her friends. How could her day get any worse?
