    March Weasel/Musk Deer Hybrid Challenge

    in FAN ART

WOO! That was a mouthful! Anyways, recently (at about the beginning of March,) I made a post about a website titled ”randomlists.com,” and how I was going to start doing an exercise. The exercise involved choosing two or three animals from the website, and then practicling these animal’s forms and details throughout the month. For this month, I got the Weasel and Musk deer, which to me was a strange combination.

    Here are the results:

    Lineart:

Sorry about the flash, I was testing different ways to take photos XD.

    Finished Piece:

    (Again sorry about the lighting)

Anyways, yeah. If you can’t tell what’s changed about the weasel base, I’ll point out what I did. First, you can see fangs protruding from the mouth in a very crooked manner, much like the musk deer, although their fangs are much more ripely sharpen.

The weasel also has cloven hooves instead of paws. (I know it’s hard to tell but I swear it’s there)

The eyes have familiar markings from a musk deers eyes and much like a cat’s.

And the last detail is how big the ears are, hence why it is looking so much like a cat. Then I just mixed the colors of the weasel and the musk deer.

I may do some more drawings of this “species,” until I get the weasel aspect just right. This creature/species does not have a name, so I’d like to hear some suggestions from you guys down in the comment section! That would be really helpful XD.

I want to challenge you guys to do this monthly challenge also, and feel free to use reference photos if you choose to do so. My new animals for the month of April are the following three:

    Pig

    Elephant

    Onyx

I hope most of you know what these animals are, if not please look up a reference photo if you are joining me in this monthly challenge!

    You’re friend,
